Is it time to announce Salman Ali Agha as the ODI captain?

One mistake he has made is not coming to bat up the order at 4, or even 3. Instead hanging behind Saim, Haris, and then batting like a chicken.

His captaincy is an upgrade on Babar in general, but that's not saying much if you cannot do your main role.

Agha's runs with the bat in ODIs and tests are very important and if he's going to compromise that over captaincy then we don't need that.
 
Hesson had to hand hold him for the best part of the match from what i saw. There were frequent message sent from dug out to Salman as he looked rattled
 
A garbage T20 batter, an even worse captain, and nothing more than a passenger in the team, he likely cost us the Asia Cup with his clueless batting and poor leadership. Today was no different. Not saving an over from Shaheen for the death was a massive tactical blunder. And benching Nawaz after just one over, despite spin working well? Unbelievable. Nawaz could’ve easily bowled 3, maybe even 4 overs, which would’ve freed up Shaheen to bowl the final overs when we needed him most.

He never looks confident while making decisions, and his body language on the field is anything but commanding. For someone leading a national side, he inspires zero confidence, either with the bat or as a leader.
 
Fakhar should be the captain in T20s

This joker should never play for Pakistan again in this format. Hassan

I believe T20 captaincy requires a bit of experience in different situations. Is he a good player or good captain in domestic T20? If not there is no logic in blindly appointing him as captain. A guy like MSD would have completely put a choke hold when the team is 20/3. India doesn't even have Kohli. All inexperienced youngsters. Less experienced than Saim Ayub.
 
Whose decision was it to bowl rauf, youve to sometimes be little unorthodox, nonetheless aggressive captain with modern mindset, he will learn with time.

When India were 20/3, something else happened too, Salman completely became a dummy captain. From that point on, every decision seemed to come from the dressing room, likely from coach Hesson. You can't play cricket like that. A captain needs to think on his feet and make decisions based on what he sees and feels in the moment, especially by reading his bowlers' body language and understanding the situation on the field. When decisions are fed from the outside, the captain loses his instinct, his flow, and his ability to react to the game as it's unfolding in front of him.

I wouldn’t mind considering Farhan as a part time keeper either but Rizwan doesn’t fit if he can’t bat in top 3
 
We have a good coach but not sure about the captain. What is going on with the batting order? So much tinkering and not playing batsmen to their strengths. Saim at three, no Hassan Nawaz, M Nawaz not being promoted.

Don’t know if this weird batting lineup is on the captain or coach.

Very bad. Talat and Ashraf are just PMLN picks.

Tala too? It was obvious for Fahim and Haris.
 
In four decades of watching Pakistan cricket, he is probably the worst performing captain. He looks clueless, his individual performances is laughably bad, has a personality of a rock, poor communication skills, absolute lack of skills in white ball cricket, and I probably could go on. It is a joke that a player like that has a place in a team like Pakistan a d he is also their captain. Get rid of this joker, make Shaheen captain
 
He isn’t suited to T20s, he just doesn’t have the game for it. He should concentrate on ODIs and Tests and make space for someone else.

First 3 wickets Pakistan got were Indians committing harakiri than him doing anything.

The most mediocre player to ever captain Pakistan. I thought maybe he had some captaincy genius to justify it but he made some of the stupidest choices with his bowling changes. Left Saim and Nawaz with overs to spare, took off his spinners when India were on the brink of being forced to do something rash and brought Rauf who looked tense from ball 1.

Yeah I was a big fan of his when I used to follow the IPL religiously over a decade back and he was with KKR. Reminded me of KP, his style then, when he used to come at7 think. Even today he appealed for an obstructing the ball when the Pak batsmen had opted not to take a run off the deflection. Hope he learns his lesson quietly because he was most likely pressured into doing this by some political powers.

Mostly pressured yes. But overall due to his recent poor performances he wouldn’t have the will to push back
 
He totally flopped in this Asia Cup. He did not look international quality at all this series. I fear his purple patch is over. The amount of abuse and trolling he is receiving on social media, i doubt he will be the same player. His form in Test Cricket and ODI Cricket could potentially nosedive as well. He should resign from the T-20 captaincy before the PCB puts him out of his misery.

He was always punching above his weight. I suspect that is about to come to an end.

9 wickets india got after 113/1 were mostly same harakiri by Pak batters than Indian bowlers doing anything. All of them trying to smash it out of ground From ball 1 ..start with Saim Ayub til last wicket of Nawaz

I am pointing out how India's collapse on their own is attributed to Salman's captaincy. HE did nothing there. Imagine someone saying SKY caused that Pakistan collapse. Pakistan did it on its own.

Pakistani batters did not respect the conditions or the opposition, the pitch had slowed down considerably and the Indian spinners were cleverly varying their pace and lengths. In comparison Tilak Verma, Dube showed the correct technique and manuvered the ball around for singles and only went after the really bad delivery. They were intelligent enough to wait because they knew mental midget spray gun rauf would give them runs at the end.
 
I think Agha should be gone from T20. He should only play ODI and Test.

I think he can be tried as an ODI captain. It may work as the format suits him.

Tilak Verma and Dube adjusting their Game to spinners is actually one benefit of chasing in Dubai. At least you know by second innings what to expect.

Agha made an error and did nt let Saim finish his quota and had Nawaz bowl only one over. He only gave 6 runs. If you take your supposedly best spinner out of attack just because he is match up to left handers , then. you need to learn more about cricket before becoming captain. Surya was not afraid to bowl Axar against Fakhar or Talat and he got Talat,s wicket eventually

Some very basic captaincy errors and decisions made under heat of the moment without going it a proper thought

I agree, this team management under Hesson are going over board with these match ups approach ie bowl an off spinner the moment you see a left hander at the crease. As if a left arm spinner or leg spinner cannot bowl to a left hander. A good bowler can bowl to any batsman.

He did nt even let Saim finish who was off spinner to both lefties and had done well in 3 overs he bowled. May be that one more economical over by saim could have made Game more tight at the end. Pretty sure Nawaz would nt have been Smashed for 50 Runs either like Brainless Spray Gun

Tilak was just playing cautiously. But if necessary, he can thrash spinners all over. HE is one of the best reverse sweepers in the INdian side. With the third up, he would have collected boundaries there. Problem is Haris Rauf should have been used in power play and Faheem or SHaheen should have had more overs later.

Harris Rauf is a Gamble even in powerplay

And Tilak was lucky to be not Run out by M Haris.

In the second match, both Abrar and AYub leaked runs. But Haris bowled well. These guys usually use data to make the choice. Haris is supposedly the best middle over bowler for Pakistan.

Again we have to look at match conditions. Spinners were difficult to put away and Saim was reasonable in 3 overs he bowled. We cannot just take a bowler out of attack because opposition will line him up . Thats inherent Risk you always have to take. Same with Nawaz He gave away 6 Runa. He deserved another over at least

in Spin Friendly Conditions , Indian Spinners bowled 13 overs out of 19. and Pak bowled only 8 .. That does nt make sense

Indian spinners are proper specialist spinners. From Pakistan only Abrar was the specialist spinner, Saim and Nawaz are lotteries. Honestly think Pakistan should have been bold enough to back Suffiyan Muqeem, they totally discarded him after one bad game against India

Saim has done more than decent in this tournament and Nawaz was your MOM in tri Series Final. Saim took out Tilak in First Game with great ball that pitched in middle and took Tilak's off Stump. Both of these should have been trusted more with Game situation at hand. One Miss hit like Samson was also possible
