What's new

Is it time to forget Mohammad Amir, or does he still have something to offer Pakistan?

He still went for 67 runs and got 2 lucky wickets. This is a guy who only picked up one wicket in the PSL. Very high chance he would have been smashed as well.
Outsmarting Buttler is not lucky. You need to let go of hate against Amir. He’s the best bowler in Pakistan

Ah, I forgot to check the lucky wickets stats, my bad. I guess everyone picks up “lucky wickets” or maybe it’s just those who you don’t like.

So because Amir performed poorly in the PSL then it would mean he would’ve been smashed in England as well. So by your logic, Shaheen should’ve been our best bowler on this tour because he was the 3rd highest wicket taker in the PSL. 🧐 What happened to Shaheen today? Think his first over went for 16 and the second for 10? What happened to his ability to bowl the in-swinger?

How can you claim to be the best bowler in Pakistan if you are performing poorly in the leagues that you are playing in? Amir was smashed in the Sri Lankan T-20 League, in the Pakistan National T-20 League, he got only one wicket in the PSL. People need to wake up and smell the coffee, Amir is nothing but hype.

Have criticized Shaheen for his performances of late but his performances have still been better than Amir of late

So if Pakistan do well in this tournament - will that end all hopes of a Amir comeback?

Amir will never play again.

He has ended his career with a higher test bowling average than his mentor Salman Butt's batting average. And that should tell the story for generations to come.

Shaheen may be the new Wasim. Amir is a nobody.

Again jumping the gun based on one game... Shaheen had an amazing game yesterday..
But as we know with Pakistan cricketers, he may live on this one laurel for decades to come

Thats exactly what Amir has done. Good games here and there accompanied by unnecessary drama that is not worth it.

You obviously don't watch follow Pakistan closely or Shaheen closely

Well amir should never play for pakistan again

But this is pakistan cricket so expect him to make a comeback

being totally objective, he makes the xi as middle over / death bowler, but he is a self obsessed drama queen so if pak dont really lose to much if hes not in the team.

also didnt show up for northern, so according to pcb own criteria theyve historically said if u dont turn out for ur domestic side ur not eligible for pak.

There won’t be a come back for him at least until Ramiz is in charge and hopefully he will be far past it when Ramiz gets the boot. #wedon’tneedfixers

Mohammad Amir so far in the Caribbean Premier League:

Overs 16
Runs conceded 85
Wickets 9 (2nd highest)
Average 9.44
Economy-rate 5.31

Should’ve tried to get Asif back in instead. Needed his talents far more even if it was just for 1-3 years more… 2nd ranked test bowler at the time of his ban officially, and probably could’ve been one of if not the best ever. His bowling style was not hard on the body like a typical pacer. Could’ve played a while.

Thanks to Misbah's and now Ramiz's personal ego, Pakistan cricket is missing the services of a match winner left arm pacer.

A left arm pacer who brings the ball in is a match winner on his day. Yes, we have Shaheen but what when he is not fit to play .

Unplayable on his day. Massive part of t20 and Champions Trophy success. In tandem with Junaid, unplayable

Wow, way to twist it :)) Amir doesn't care about Pakistan.

Pakistan have enough pacers now to move on from likes of Amir.

Even bench strength of Pakistan is pretty good when it comes to pace bowling.

Below average cricketer and way past it. Pakistan is doing the right thing right now by investing in bowlers that can serve us for the next decade. Going back to Amir is taking 10 steps in the wrong direction.

His real age is like 33.

He is absolutely done at the international level as Pakistan have much better, faster bowlers now. Amir has nothing left to offer.

Is Pakistan missing Mohammad Amir?

I never understood the hate he got in his come back. He always kept it tight with his economy, might pick up a few early wickets, and a handy lower order batsman.

He's performed decently in the CPL as well. How would he have fared in the 2021 T20 World Cup and will he slot in easily as our fourth pacer?

A bowling attack of Shaheen, Rauf, Naseem, and Amir would instil the fear of god in every single batting order in the world.

He himself turned his back on your team. He wasn't forced to retire, was he?

Pakistan have a decent T20 pace attack already, so don't think so. But for Tests and ODIs, sure. Shaheen sadly is the only world class pacer out of the lot there. Peak Amir could be a major boost.

Is Amir an international level bowler? I would say yes. Does he fit in the Pakistan team? No. Someone who cheated on his nation once and then preferred leagues over country would never be respected by his teammates and only create fissures in the team.

Still the best death over in Pakistan.

I wouldn't mind having him back in the 2023 WC.

Our bowling attack has everything else. It's the death bowling that's letting us down and losing us games. Having said that, Babar's captaincy doesn't help either.

Hate? He didn't get any hatred, if anything he got a King's welcome back into the team. And the fans supported him like he was the best thing we ever produced, I've seen it live at the ground in several matches but he wasn't the same bowler he one was. Yes he was economical but wasn't picking wickets when required. Eventually he retired himself from the test team along with Wahab when Pakistan didn't have much option. That's where all the hatred started and deservingly so. He chose leagues over playing for Pakistan and they let him have it. Good riddance. Hopefully he never makes it back.

At this rate, even when retired Amir becomes 40 years old there will still be people pondering on his return.

Amir is 30 years old now while Pakistan has a pretty formidable and young bowling unit. Makes no sense replacing any of the current bowlers with Amir especially for only 1 particular format.

Reham Khan of cricket needs to write a biography with tips for aspiring fixers. That is just about everything he can offer.

pak already has enough young bowlers. adapting the lengths to the conditions and game situation needs to be discussed by the team a bit more i guess. all said batting is clearly the bigger problem.

At least he is way better than Haris Rauf and still has the ability to get you wickets when required.
