He has been playing non stop cricket for over 3 months. He clearly mentioned that he is playing county cricket to enhance his skills further.
Is it really worth it? (taking so much toll on his fragile body).

*Note* there was a rumour that he was planning to quit test matches.

As per Aamir it was either County or CPL, im glad Aamir chose County, shows how serious he is about being a great cricketer

County Cricket is over rated. Sami, Wahab, Rana Naveed, Yasir Arafat, Azhar Mahmood have enjoyed county stints but it did little for their international careers. Wasim and Waqar would have been great bowlers regardless of county cricket.

Playing county Cricket will be beneficial for him like it was for Wasim and Waqar amongst other Pak players. Obviously the more Cricket you play the greater the chances of sustaining an injury. Can't make an omelette without cracking egg's!:inzi

Where did that rumour of him leaving Tests come from? Almost every time he speaks he conveys his desire of becoming the best bowler in the world and every Pak bowler knows this point that to be the best one has to perform in Test cricket. Even Amir talks positively about Test cricket.
As for the county cricket he is playing this is something very good that has happened to him. You can hear about its value yourself from Imran, Wasim and Waqar's mouth, plenty of videos on YouTube. I hope Hasan Ali and Raees also get some contract. Junaid has already got a deal.

All our legends were polished by county cricket. He will learn a lot. Very good move. It's much better than a monkey t 20 league

there is a big difference between t20 and first class county

County cricket is still the best finishing school in the business. No other comp offers the same mixture of variety of pitches & conditions, plus so many matches & situations to try out your skills.

It was the making of many a WI & Aussie great over the years, not to mention Imran Khan.

Will be great for Amir.

He needs to get in the habit of picking 5fers again. Also its always benifical to work with different coaching set ups might pick up more skills on the way.

County cricket is a crucial learning curve for Amir. Of course this will help him. As long as they don't over bowl him like Surrey did to Waqar in 1991 which probably caused the stress fracture that led to Waqar missing the 1992 world cup.

Again not needed, should only play 50 overs or T20 at domestic level to reduce the wear and tear and stress on his body

If he 4 day competition is necessary then id rather he go to Australia and South Africa, the shield is much superior to county cricket

It will be worth it for Amir!
The poor guy has missed out on 5 years of potentially productive livelihood.
How would you cope with such a setback?
Good on him. He's served his time, now he deserves to bear the fruit of his patience and undisputed talent.
The English county system should also allow him to perfect his skills further.
Good luck to him.

Its because their skills may be limited.

Amir has unique natural ability just like Wasim and Waqar.

Playing in a professional system and working with professional coaches with modern day facilities will do him wonders.

It would help, but again, it depends on what he wants from playing it.

If he wants money, it's not useful.
If he wants to play just for the sake of it, not gonna bear any fruits.

He should play to improve his skills, to become fitter, to become professional, to learn better English and to IMPROVE HIS BATTING.

In 4 day games he should bat atleast at 7/ 8.

What's the point of that?

What's the point of that?

Look brother, I am a firm believer of learning.
I have no use of Danish and French in my life, yet I learn it(albeit, just few words). It's not just about language. If life gives you an opportunity to learn/ improve something, do grab it with both hands. Who knows, it might be useful at some point in your life. You should learn as much as you can, irrespective of whether it's a necessity or not. There is no harm in learning English, is there?

Of course not, and he should learn English for all the reasons you mentioned. I am just against the notion that you need to learn English to look good in front of the camera when someone interviews you after the match. These guys have a job to play good cricket and improve their cricketing skills a lot more than learning a language.

Nowhere did I mention it, brother. But again, as a professional you need to be able to deliver the message to the media and the public in a perfect possible way. But, I would rate it the least, as skills come first.

Moreover, communication is the best way of learning any language. So he doesn't need to spend much time by learning books.

In his professional life(as a cricketer) this should be the preference.(Just an example)

Improve his bowling.
Improve his fitness.
Improve his fielding.
Improve his batting.
Learn captainship.
Improve his body language.
Improve his work ethics.
Stay grounded.
Have a good relationship with his team mates, management and the board.
IMPROVE HIS ENGLISH.

best thing to learn for him is about good diet and effective exercises to build some muscles. Fitness culture is very strong in uk.he needs to soak in as much knowledge as possible about fitness and proper diet.

He did admit to spot fix so it isfair to assume he made money..... probably a lot more than 5 years of potentially productive livelihood.
