Is Karachi dirtiest city of Pakistan? Some media thinks so. Do you agree?

Add to that most hated, neglected and ignored city of Pakistan. The current system of governance will not allow Karachi to ever prosper.

Most cities in Pakistan are dirtier but Karachi being the largest and most populous would obviously be the dirtiest. The only clean city from experience is Islamabad.

Yes it's filthy. I hear it was once "the Paris of Pakistan!".

Yep zardari has virtually milked all the coffers that were meant to establish the city.

Plan to destroy Karachi is part of the treacherous h****** of the PPP so that it hurts PK. A well run Karachi could add a point to the GDP growth of Pakistan each year.

Population of London is almost half that if Karachi. There are 32 boroughs in London and there are only 5 districts in Karachi. There is no devolution of power in the city, which means people don’t have any control of what happens in their own city. It is therefore not surprising that the city is such a mess right now or has been for the last however many decades.

The 18th was supposed to devolve power to the people, instead in practice the PPP has used to create a lootocracy with AZ as its head.

These archaic districts preceded Zardari and co. Zardari is a symptom. The rot goes deeper than that. Get rid of one Zardari and another will take his place. On the other end of the spectrum, we have Malik Riaz of this country. They’ll just grab whatever land they can get hold of and start their ‘cities’. Both are disastrous for the city but the problem is that both have their backers deeply imbedded into the systems. And then we have all too holy cows who can do no wrongs. They develop their own ‘cities’ in the name of facilitating the martyrs’ families but in reality it’s just another shame to fill their own coffers.
The whole system is irredeemable.

The system is redeemable with honest people and political will. We need Punjab to be broken up into 3 areas, Pothwar, Central and South, we need to KP into 2 and Sindh into at least 2, if not 3. I would give special status to all Cities of over 2million to have self govt with directly elected Mayor's and councils.

Those are things that will never happen. Which is what that makes it all irredeemable.

In the age of bullet trails, Karachites would give anything just to get their trams back. Shows where this city is going. And where it is.

That's because people of Karachi don't even have self rule. What does some wadera from interior Sindh know about Nazimabad, Baldia Town, Banaras Chowk etc etc????

I've gone once and I wouldn't want to go back. Not just because it's filthy but for other reasons as well.

Its about good management. Doesnt matter who does it.

Really sad to read so much negative stuff of this great city. In sha Allah this mess will be sorted out, somehow. Most politicians in Pak seem to be only worried about their own pockets and closest family. When you don't care about your city/province/country and your entire country's coming generations this is bound to happen.

After the FATF blackmailing by the Nooras and PPP last week, we know where these treacherous crooks are coming from. They will do anything to destroy PK, and as the Karachi is our economic hub, this is their main target at the moment.

I think the size of Karachi is the main problem. It has become too big and not easy to manage. I would divide Karachi in 2 to 4 cities to make it manageable.
