I’ve been saying it on this forum since the Woolmer days. These type of “sum of parts” - allrounders / bits n pieces players coaches do not work in Pakistan and there’s a simple reason for it - Our out cricket. It is non existent. Teams like NZ, SA, even ENG and AUS can do this because they have solid out cricket and fitness. Ones become twos when batting, and many twos become ones when bowling. We saw a perfect example of this in the England game.

There is some questions he should be asked for sure.

I like the guy. But there is some gaping holes in his strategy. We play flipping 8 bowlers at times but then bowl only 4 of them.

Some promising players like Abbas Afridi and Hassan Nawaz have disappeared.

The selection of Babar after the BBL was deeply disturbing.

In most matches Saim was outbowling Nawaz and Shadab, but he was dropped for his batting and they were retained for Thier bits and pieces performances.

Would love to see the logic behind some of these things but it will be difficult for him to be open and transparent while employed by PCB.

Mike Hesson has been an excellent coach for Pakistan. His approach has been scientific and he has done the best with what he had. Pakistan has finished 5th in the tournament. That’s very much realistically where most would rate Pakistan currently in T20
Cricket as a neutral. I would say top 4-5 is the right spot for the current Pak team in T20s .

However he comes across as a guy who is a good assistant coach/. Coaching team material but not the main head coach. He doesn’t have the respect as a cricketer or neither the personality of the guy who can become everyone’s friend/mentor .

You can't hire a high profile foreign coach and not give him any authority. If you reduce him to a dummy, he will most likely resign.
