Is Mohammad Hafeez Pakistan’s best batsman?

Best batsman after Babar Azam in Pakistan.

An average of 20 in 5 t20 world cups , an average of 27 in 3 50 over world cups , an average of 32 in 180 one day matches the list goes on...

Yes he most definitely is up their just behind Babar Azam . Pure class .

Of course one of the best. Best is Babar .

Only one apart from Babar who's comfortable against pacers and can hit cricketing shots against them.

Kami too is up there.

I'd put Babar, Kamran, Fakhar and even maybe Sharjeel ahead of Hafeez. Malik, Iftikhar and Haris would also possibly sneak ahead. I'd still definitely take him to the World Cup and the eight batsmen i'd take would be Babar, Sharjeel, Kamran, Hafeez, Iftikhar, Asif, Fakhar and Malik.

Best batsman after Babar Azam in Pakistan.

He gets a lot of criticism because he's sometimes exposed in big international competitions, but that is because Pakistan has poor quality batsmen at that level. He is still one of Pakistan's top players in limited over games. Averages don't count as much as match winning ability, and he has the ability to dominate bowlers.

Won us CT final 2017. In ENG.

Some good cameos in 2019 WC.

Hurts?

Your lack of cricketing knowledge is alarming.

Hafeez's struggles in swinging and bouncing conditions are known to everyone, you just can't hide behind his CT Final innings to prove your point.

His "good" cameos in the WC ended up with him getting dismissed by the likes of Williamson and Finch.

And you are Not looking at Stats after CT 2017 he played with Pace Usually more then run a ball in every odi he played and that too with An Avg of 45+

Babar really is an exception an anomaly really
He Loves to play on Bouncy Tracks Like Australia or South Africa i think his best IT20 innings also came in that SA Series where he Made 90

Babar's technique is outstanding, but you are right, he is an anomaly. He gets criticism from home fans for not slogging the ball more, but the best hitters in the game have a sound technique as well. Esay to slag off Hafeez, and it's true he is better in low bounce conditions, but I would still like to know who are the alternatives?

Reality is any one Who has a little ounce of Potential is untested they are not getting opportunities the way they should So In that Sense no one Really is Better Alternative
Our Bowling is so so good with Shaheen,Naseem,Rauf,Amir and Imad,Shadab maybe Umer but Batting Still depends on Babar alone

I don't care about his record since the CT Final. His overall record suggests that he is a very good player in subcontinent conditions, capable of dominating attacks when in touch, but below average when it comes to handle quality pace in swinging conditions.

I actually wanted him to be out of the squad for the WT20, but keeping a look at our current batsmen and their mediocrity, I would say that Hafeez would walk into this team just after Babar for the tournament. He remains a better option than Malik who is going to be a walking wicket in Australia.

I don't think hafeez is lacking in overseas condition he just doesn't seem to have self belief which is probably fostered by his bowling action getting picked on repeatedly on other shores
The professor is some times too textbook and a somewhat perfectionist and maybe needs to dumb down and just enjoy himself

Yes he is the best batsman batsman in Pakistan for limited overs cricket. His latest innings proved that.

What an excellent innings under pressure granted to be in the squad for world cup

He has past his peak but he has been an overall very good batsmen for Pakistan.

He will open the batting in my Pakistan's best ever XI(since 2000s) along with Azhar Ali in test cricket.

Utterly bizarre that we keep turning to these losers. How long are they going to play for? Him and Malik are a curse on PK cricket

He’s starting to look like Viv in 1991 towards the end of his career , you still see shades of greatness and nothing but respect from the opposition bowlers clearly admiring the great batsman for all his world conquering innings over the years - but like other elite batsmen of his calibre in eras before him , be they Bradman, Sobers, Viv, Lara, and Sachin - all these legends had to quit the game one day realising that age is no longer on their side.

Hafeez might still get 100s but I reckon he’s past his best and we may not see those double centuries and big 150s especially against top class fast bowling that we took for granted when Hafeez was at his peak.

He doesn't play test match so were do you expect him to get double centuries and 150s lol

Match losing knock today.

Hafeez doesn't fit in the top-5 of any T20 team anymore. He struggles against good pace bowling and even with spin gets stuck on the crease being unable to rotate the strike. At best, he's a good off-spinner with some infrequent ability with the bat at this point of his career. He spent all of 2019 finding it difficult to bat wherever he played. For Pakistan, in the CPL, Vitality Blast and now this year's PSL. He's becoming a burden on batting line-ups with his inability to accelerate at any point.

LQ were at 32/1 at the end of the powerplay today chasing 188. With Hafeez at 13 off 17 balls.

Dreadful batsman

Still playing for Pakistan means our batting in LOIs is totally dead

In a Pakistan XI of this millennium, him and Azhar Ali will be the first choice openers.

Like I've always said.

YES HE IS!!!

Take out Babar Azam and our team 100$ relies on him.

Class timing.

Class elegance.

2nd best Pakistani batsman.

Right now in T20I, he is Pakistan's best or second best batsman. He has had a great 2020. Even better than Babar.

Babar might be the best batsman in Pakistan but hafeez when he plays his wicket is more cruciel as he can change gears, he has always had the talent he just didn't always do justice to it

Sorry for criticising and hating on him. But he is better than all these PP talent spotter threads.

I'm sorry for not realizing this earlier.

Said it before. Will say it again. Best limited overs batsman after Babar for Pakistan

2nd best after bobby but woefully underachieved....and lack of proper
Coaches or desi batting coaches has
Not helped him too....got good cricketing
Brain too..... Had numerous pretty 30s and 40s.
Throughout his career which could have been 140s..
If he had truly developed his potential....

Get him back in the test team. It will be a sad day once he retires.

ATG no doubt.

Does Hafeez make our ATG T20 team after this year? What is our ATG T20 team anyways?

Said it before. Will say it again. Best limited overs batsman after Babar for Pakistan

Babar is really good, but can he play the sort of innings that Hafeez played today? Personally, I think Hafeez is our best LOI batsman. This guy can go from 20 off 20 and end up with a score of 70 odd off 45-50 balls.

The t20 era has coincided with our worst decade as a cricket team. Therefore you wont find much quality and depth here. In fact, it is hard to make a full xi with guys who truly deserve to be there.

These are the guys who I believe leave a semblance of a claim to be in this xi.

Kamran Akmal
Sharjeel khan
Babar Azam
Umar Akmal
Mohammad Hafeez captain
Shahid Afridi
Imad Wasim
Abdul Razzaq
Mohammad Amir
Umar Gul
Saeed ajmal

This really looks like a terrible side with a dearth of batsmen, but i would still expect them to challenge the best because of Babar's consistency and the bowling attack.

It's okay, you're now realizing it! ;) That's a good thing.

Well, this XI says it all, really.

Definitely not ! Anybody who averages 20 in 5 t20 world cups with one 50 and a SR of 105 deserves no mention in any best 11.

His current form is brilliant but he has lost to many matches for Pakistan and choked in to many pressure situations.

Replace Imad Wasim with Shoaib Malik.

Shoaib > Imad in Fielding
Shoaib > Imad in Batting
Imad > Shoaib in Bowling.

Babar Azam has been carrying Pakistan's batsman for the last few years. You can't say Hafeez is best when cricketing legends add Babar to top 5 list of batsman in the world

Best batsman for Pak in the shorter formats. Vastly under-rated but a true match winner. Was highly instrumental in Pak winning their only ICC trophy / major tournament in the last decade.

Babar I must say is not the match winner Hafeez is and has been.

On any given day, I will put my $$$ on Hafeez's chances of playing a match winning knock over that by Babar.

First ball facing.

PULL SHOT.

OUT OF THE PARK!

King Hafeez.

Replace Imad Wasim with Shoaib Malik.

Shoaib > Imad in Fielding
Shoaib > Imad in Batting
Imad > Shoaib in Bowling.

You're not wrong.

Malik is obviously much better bat than Imad Wasm, but overall, the equation is still crap.

He won't make an impact on batting just like Imad.

The worry I have is that he could decline at any moment. He is aged 40 and this is Pakistan 40. He is in great form and should not be dropped but we need to be wary he could suffer a massive decline at some point.

If only he could have figured out his game 6,7 years ago.
Really looks a million dollars right now when everyone expected him to decline. Who knows, may continue like this till the 2023 world cup. Rofl
Anyway, I see a great coach in him once he finally hangs in the towel.

Watch his form decline in the WT20. The professor would then revert back to his much less coveted alter ego... the TA. Long may his crazy t20 form continue :hafeez.

He is having an insane purple patch at the end of his career.

I really hope he can keep this up and perform in the T20 WC.

Pakistan best batsman after Inzi.
Unfortunately underrated in this forum.

Uh no.

I'm loving Hafeez's purple patch, believe me. However I have watched his career pretty much from the beggining and I know what this man is like.

Throughout his career, he has had extreme highs and extreme lows. There was a time where Hafeez was even making enormous test scores. However the unfortunate fact remains that either side of these purple patches, there are a whole heap of very poor performances. And when Hafeez is on a low, he is so poor that even his strongest supporters are pulling their hair out. Take the World Cup 2019 - Hafeez looked silky smooth as always but his mode of dismissal was just atrocious in every innings - usually the slog sweep. That too having consumed a whole load of balls for virtually no runs. That version of Hafeez has unfortunatley cost us as many games, if not more, than this version of Hafeez has won us.

It's an unfortunate fact because he is supremely talented and an absolute delight to watch in full flow. I even think Pakistan is making a massive error sending him back right now when, in this sort of form, we could do with him in our test team given that we don't have Barbar.

No. It is Babar Azam in current times. Hafeez is very irresponsible. Not the trait of a good batsman

His knock was good but he had 4 dropped catches. Should've been out on 45. Would've been a good score even then but I doubt our team would've reached 163.

Remarkable turn around by hafeeez.playing down the order has had big impact on his form

Does he fancy opening in Tests again? I am getting desperate now :ssmith

Hafeez will play a vital role for Lahore if they're going to chase this down. Already 20 from 14 and he doesn't look like stopping

This is stunning striking once again. Best white-ball batman in the country

Man Hafeez what has happened to you?

The curious case of Muhammad Hafeez.

He is murdering everyone. Another six as i type this.

His arm must be getting tired of always having to raise his bat
