This is the first day of test series and none of the Aussie bowlers or fielders have had a go at Indian batters. It is disgusting.

The way things are going, it won't be long before one of these players decide to get married to each other.

Nicemanship is a genuine threat to sports and must be countered at all cost.

Th onus is now on us fans to make things nasty and hardcore.

This is the most dossile Aussie welcome in a supposedly high profile test series..

Cant you even spell docile.

The toughman ship is reserved for England and South Africa

There is no end to it right.. if ppl abuse each other then we have a problem as fans. If they don’t then also. All I saw today was proper gritty game. Also the characters who used to fight have matured and actually Paine was having some banter with Virat.

It's just ok for Virat to abuse others while others have to be docile for the fear of losing IPL contracts. I don't understand why other Aussies cannot be aggressive on the field and humble, calm and friendly outside like they claim Kohli is.

this is test cricket as aggressive as it can get. if you find it boring then go and watch hit and giggle stuff

There used to be a rivalry between Australia and India when Ganguly was our captain. Currently our only rivalry is against Bangladesh. Others are being too nice these days. :inti

Yes.

I miss Ishant's facial seizures, Smith's brain-fades and Kohli saying he would re-examine his friendship with the Australians after the 2017 series. Without confrontations and abuse this rivalry is not what it used to be.

One of the reasons the 2017 India-Australia series is one of my favorites test series in recent memory is because the high-quality and competitive nature of cricket was backed by equally confrontational attitudes on the field...from both sides. Besides a select few; Ashwin, Pujara, Rahane every player was saying something or reacting to something in the heat of the battle. And that just made the cricket all the more entertaining.

They are nice to each other off the field but there is still an intensity on the field.

It's hilarious seeing Pakistan fans mocking the teams being nice to each other. Firstly our players don't even have the social skills to behave in such way as all they can is " I respect him because he is a senior player or he is a world class player". And secondly no one plays against Pakistan with such intensity because we are an average team .

What has Pakistan got to do with Ind vs Aus series? :inti

There was no Rivalry with Australia before, we you expecting now?
Except Ganguly all 90's players were too nice and timid.

As for the "nicemenship", yeah I would agree, it is a bit cringeworthy to see all the smiles and giggles in a series that used to be so fierce in fun to watch. Kind of taking a dimension out of the game.

This is what the fans want, cricket is a gentle game. players with attitude spoil cricket.

Two best teams competing each other, but thanks to IPL, there is no tension or rivalry in the game. Everyone is so friendly to each other, does not want to mess up their IPL chances. Not blaming IPL or Indian players for that.

Australia have been putting up this good guy act since Sandpaper-gate and it doesn’t suit them. They need to move on now.

This good guy act only goes well with New Zealand.

Remember how the Aussies gave it to NZ in 2015 wc final, mocking their nicemanship.

And now the Aussies are forcing nicemanship on us.

It is unacceptable.

No cricket team goes to Australia for being treated nicely.

Forget the players, what's wrong with the Aussie commentators and media giving Presidential level respect to Indian cricketers?

Not so, nicemanship has been forced on the Aussies, everyone complained that the aussies were too rough and tough for cricket and needed to change. CA have imposed new rules on the team and they are going to play nice to stop the complaining.

Nice arent they.

1) they need money. More viewership
2) IPL contracts for their sooooperstars.
3) marketing reasons
4) sucking up will land them a higher paid job in IPL commentary or perhaps Indian fitness management type roles.
5) future coaching role ?

Uh I don't think the game has been all that nice lmao. Players are playing with real intensity. There is mutual respect. That's about it. Just because they don't sledge right up to their face or swear like McGrath and Donald used to doesn't mean they are both being 'nice'.

Also India performs much much better if opposition team sledges them. It fires up Kohli and co. They retaliate with real intensity. It's a different India. They don't back down under Virat if players get sledged.

Australia is actually smart for not sledging. Langer the grumpy old **** even said it himself. Australia does not wish to sledge Virat.

Cricketers or for that matter sportsmen in any sport are not paid millions of dollars to be nice on the field. It's a disgrace and a clear lack of respect for the fans and viewers of the game.

Don't make my sport a 9 to 5 job affair.

On the field, whatever it takes to bring the opposite down must be done. This is what Dharma says.

No friendships are allowed.

Never ever smile. I cant put into words how pathetic I feel today at seeing this mockery of Cricket right in front of my eyes.

Disgraceful.

How many Australians in the current XI are sucking up to get a seat at the IPL auction next year?

Sehwag should say something about it.

No disrespect, but Indians should get over the delusion that any cricketer anywhere is going to be nice to Indian team in order to get an IPL gig. This was cleared in the inaugural IPL itself in 2008 when Andrew Symonds earned highest overall big despite monkeygate.

These accusations that Sehwag make and some fans support, make us Indians look small, which we actually are but not in that way.

Seriously takes away from the viewing experience. They act as if they're friends playing on a Saturday afternoon at the local park.

What is going on?

Australia is letting Indian bowling dominate them like the days of Windies.

Saw pics of Babar Azam and Kane Williamson having a joke before the game. Luke Ronchi and Waqar having a a catch up. And Shadab and Brendan Mccullum in conversation.

I'm sorry but if this was India and Australia players, PP would be all over this . But I don't see any Pakistani fans having an issue with our players and New Zealand players smiling and having conversation before, during, and after the game.

Our fans are hypocrites.

Also when Williamson hit the final ball for 4, Faheem was smiling. Again our fans have no issue with this. Imagine if Bumrah was smiling after Smith hit him for 4. You guys would be all over it lol.

But when it's a Pakistan player, it's fine.

Starc's celebration after Jadeja's wicket. Pant getting under Wade's skin to the point where the latter was yelling personal insults at him and even tried to intimidate him off the last ball of the 2nd session by charging at him. Pant's unflappable response to the ram-charge was :)))

But, it's begun.

Australia were lucky that nicemanship didn't cost them first test but they were back to being lame in 2nd test.

I don't know why I am even following this series.

Dude India does the same with n.z

They are tricking everyone into thinking that new Zealand is this team of nice guys. Screw all that. I want a focused India and Pakistan play them next time away from home. Prepare well by playing tour games and then beat n.z in n.z. enough is enough

I am sick and tired of desi teams underestimating n.z and treating those tours like it's a holiday. They are not a minnow side in home Condtions.

This need to be nice is destroying Australian cricket . Its clear the Aussies are frustrated they aren't able to have a go at others and, therefore, are underperforming.

Lol what?? They are all fired up. Absolute balderdash. There is no nicemanship.

Starc, Wade, Cummins all were fired up vs India. The young guys are just soft. That's all.

The reason why they look soft now is because the Indian bowling is very capable of hurting them hence the so called quietness. Pace and bounce are on display from both sides..it's just that India are able to dish it out even better the Aussies appear to look nice.

Aussies are always competitive. They never back down. Trust me. They are going as hard as they can.

36 all out is proof lol.

Tbh I don't really care if the teams are friendly. Just find it weird that our fans are complaining when our players smile and be nice to opposing players. Even if they got sledged, most our players won't respond with anything intelligent . As seen with Sarfraz incident with Andile Phehlukwayo.

Another dumb comment. Sarfaraz was not even responding to Pehlwayo. I do my best to avoid the nonsense you spew but sometimes I just can’t help it because it isn’t in my nature to not be a voice for those who cannot appropriate themselves to the west.

Not being able to speak English does not mean that they lack intelligence. Please think 3 times, 4 times maybe before pressing the post button on a public forum

Australia-England is the only real rivalry left and it is the most original one.

No doubt.

AUS vs England
India vs Bangladesh
Pakistan vs Afghanistan

These are the three most intense and bloody rivalries in the world of cricket right now. They are the realest. Rest all are phoney.

Starc has admitted on air that he texts Kohli. :faceplam: Give me a break.

Yup. It's happening :97:

Paine today on Wade-Pant

“I think it’s boiling away,” Paine said. “There’s some stuff starting to happen, there’s a bit of chat starting to happen. I think this Test is going to be fascinating, not just from a cricket point of view, but also I think there has been tension starting to boil over the surface with a lot of unnamed sources coming out from their camp saying where they want to play the fourth Test and where they don’t want to go.

“I think it’s starting to grind a few people. We’ll see how it goes.”
“It’s been unusually tame the start of this series and I think it’s because both teams are just happy to be back playing Test cricket. There has been such a big break and there is a lot of respect between the two teams, there’s no doubt about that, but it’s very competitive sides.”

Some nice moments from Day 2 of the 3rd Test:
1. Labu relentlessly being in Gill's ear for 2-3 overs from short leg. Even sledged him, when Gill was at the non-strikers.
2. Rohit smashes Wade at shortleg with a sweepshot. Wade howls clutching his shoulder. Rohit asks him how he is and Wade snaps back rudely. Later when Rohit was wrongly given caught out to Wade, he excitedly was yelling in his face.
3. Rohit ran a quick two and was collecting his breath. Paine made loud panting sounds. This was quite funny actually.

NZ showing a lot of nicemanship.

Pujara hit on the helmet by Wagner but he runs up to him to give a him a fist pump lol

Hopefully tomorrow’s big final will have a tinge hostility in it and no nicemanship.
