Kohli has been with RCB since their very first season and despite being regarded as an ATG by many, has failed repeatedly to secure the glory for RCB. RCB had one of the most decorated and iconic squads over the years but still never could the make it over the line. And out of their 17 seasons, Virat had been captain in 8 of them.

Even the Women RCB squad have won the title recently so did Mike Hesson with IU in PSL 9.

So is it just Virat Kohli's selfish statpadding and orange cap craze that is holding RCB back or something else?

I won't say that he is selfish but the team on the whole has been unlucky with lots of close matches didn't go there way.

Same story persists even during the Watson, ABD, and Chris Gayle days. They always have the worst bowling lineup. Anyhow, RCB management doesn't seem to care about winning.

Watson have won it with RR, Hesson had won it with IU, even the same management had helped the Women's squad to get over the line.

So i believe the one playing for centuries and runs is responsible for it.

I don't think it's selfish. Today, he scored a hundred with a 156 strike rate, which is not bad. However, other players like Maxwell and Green are failing in every match to continue the momentum. This is where RCB is losing.

You can believe whatever you want, kohli is not getting enough support from other players and no one care these IPL stats.

Chris Gayle summed it up with RCB, the biggest problem with the Franchise is that the main players like Gayle, Kohli, ABD, Maxwell hog most of the limelight, attention in the Franchise, there is no focus or attention paid to the rest of the team whereas the more successful franchises has everyone contributing from top to bottom with no discrimination and that eventually reflects on the results.

I bet if they only had Dhoni on Top then things would have been massively different provided Kohli not there.

Finishers are more important in T20. Team that lacks finishers always end up losing at some point. Apart from one season where DK fired , RCB never had finished. It was always a top heavy side. Also Chahal was a fantastic bowler for them. Not sure why they released him. Also bowling and fielding strategy is amateurish. Cummins even with pedestrian bowler like Unadkat went with slow ball strategy and successfully executed it with right match ups.

Their home ground is bowlers graveyard, that also not help them.. plus they leave Chahal who does have good record for them (considering the ground)..

I think they are highly impatient. THey don't stick with players long enough except mega super stars like Kohli, ABDV. They play a couple of matches and drop them. No player feels secure in this environment. So they end up underperforming.

Faf with Chennai > Faf with RCB

Watson with CHennai > Watson with RCB

Dube with Chennai >>> DUbe with RCB

Kohli is the GOAT. That was a brilliant hundred and they only failed to get to 200 because the wickets kept falling and the other batsmen consumed too many deliveries.

I can’t believe Indian fans are so naive that they ridicule this GOAT. A 67 ball hundred is slow?

I don't understand why they released him, He's the only bowler who consistently performed well for RCB.. He can be used in PP, middle overs or even at death..
anyway it's good to have him in our RR set up..

125 runs in 13.5 overs without a wicket loss is slow..

Is Virat to blame for that with his 150+ SR? I would lay more blame on Faf and the following batsmen who consumed so many deliveries to score a run a ball.

He is GOAT in world T20 by a country mile. But problem is in T20 there is no room for tapping full tosses for singles just to get safely to a 100. That is a cardinal sin. With 7 wickets in hand they scored 4 runs in 19th over.

To score 4 runs in the 19th over is not a cardinal sin but a blasphemy.

The way you should look at it is 205 all out > 184/3. IT is simple. A couple of 20 run over right there would have put the score well beyond Rajasthan Royals reach. Think about the assault from Russell. They reached a massive total , SRH almost hunted it down. Similarly Mumbai INdians reached 246 chasing 277. Iif you take your foot of the gas for any reason that will come back and hurt you.

I have noticed one thing about kohli which will probably end up becoming the biggest stain on his career.

With the exception of 2013, he's been a mainstay in the sqaud since 2012 and he hadn't really won anything for India tbh.

Asia cups sure, but not icc tournaments

Kohli is an absolute legend. But not really sure the way he plays currently is the best for the Indian T20 team considering what the format is like right now.

They have so many talented and explosive players for the format. A 30(10) is worth much more than a 50(40) in this format.

RCB as a whole batted slow last game. Faf scored 44 of 33.

The correlation between Kohli and RCB's consistent failure is too long and too strong to be hand waved away and dismissed, I am afraid.

Kohli's record in major knockouts, his inability to change game to suit the needs of the team - these are all to glaring to not be noticed.

RCB should look to change its strategy. They have been backing big names like Kohli, Devilliers, gayle, McCallum, maxwell, Faf etc too much. They always had batting firepower but they ended up on the losing side because of stat padding like we saw with kohli last night. Bowling is pretty mediocre TBH and it the bowling that is going to win you tournaments, not batting.

Kohli's spin game is his problem. He just finds it harder in IPL than in WT20 due to lack of multiple quality spinners in SENA countries.

In last WT20, he was slow vs Adil Rashid but Pakistan simply didn't used spin enough vs Kohli and relied on pace mostly. Even it was Nawaz who got him out on a no ball. But Rauf lost the plot completely vs him.

It's on kohli too, these 40 ball 50s are completely sucking the life out of the rcb innings and putting too much pressure on the remaining batsmen.

Shouldn't t20s for india, he just can't strike beyond a certain rate

He is no hero or villain but just a statpadder and unfortunately can't do anything about it

Virat Kohli RCB's Hero or Villain? Making sense of 'slowest' IPL hundred in Jaipur

IPL 2024, RR vs RCB: Virat Kohli has been shouldering the burden of RCB's misfiring batting unit in the new season. His best IPL score, 113 which came in 72 balls, was far from enough on Saturday as Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson made light work of the chase. Is it fair to point fingers at Kohli's 'slowest' IPL hundred for RCB's loss?

Virat Kohli's 72-ball 113 not enough as RCB fail to defend 183 in Jaipur

An out-of-form RCB batting unit and dysfunctional bowling attack not helping Kohli's cause
Virat Kohli brought up his 8th IPL hundred at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur where, until Saturday, he averaged 21. On a pitch that was not conducive to free-flowing stroke-making, at least in the first half of the IPL 2024 match against Rajasthan on Saturday, Kohli kept the RCB charge going. There was a familiar feeling as Virat Kohli, single-handedly lifted RCB to 183 for 3 in 20 overs against RR, helping the former finalists post a total that was considered par, at best.

Virat Kohli carried his bat and ended up scoring 113 off 72 balls. The rest of the team managed 59 off 48 balls. RR were gracious enough to offer 11 extra runs to RCB. However, Rajasthan made a mockery of the chase. Despite losing Yashasvi Jaiswal, their flamboyant opener, for 0, RR got the chase done with 5 deliveries and 6 wickets to spare. At no point did 183 look threatening as Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson enjoyed the conditions that increasingly became batter-friendly on a dewy evening. Buttler returned to form with a 58-ball 100 not out while Samson did his thing, smashing a 41-ball 69.

T20 has evolved and no place for anchoring . Ind with its anchors for t20WC deserves to be hammered. Knowing Ind think tank the line up will full of tuk tuk anchors - rohit gill klrahul kohli pandya jadeja - exception being jaiswal. 6 out 7 are anchors. Good luck scoring anything above 165 when the norm nowadays is 200 or 200 plus no matter what the surface. No " assessing the conditions bs" and " getting to a par score nonsense" . Got to be aggressive with intent guns blazing attitude. Maybe another WC loss is needed to kick these senior leeches out

I don't consider them unfortunate rather they are foolish in picking up players during the auction. I have never seen them with a well balanced team in any IPL.

Until they address their horrible bowlers, they will not win anything.

Also, Kohli should not be their leading scorer. He should only play supporting role. The rest have to make the bulk of the scoring at high S/R.

RCB fans: We have the best team ever and nobody can break our records

Le other cricket fans: Then how many trophies do you have?

Le RCB fan: You are a Kohli hater

Another special knock from Kohli today made 3(9) against MI. King for a reason😁

Pathetic franchise

Not sure who has their plans as a franchise more wrong, RCB or Peshawar Zalmi?

probably only care about the money they draw through Kohli and nothing else

RCB will draw money with or without Kohli, Bangalore is a sport crazy city with the cricket stadium bang in the center of the city.

They need to let go of Kohli like they did with Gayle.

RCB's woes are never due to their batting. Yeah in this season they are struggling with the bat as well but one thing common in all of the IPL seasons for them has been their poor bowling attack. RCB has a lazy talent scout I think. They always bid for famous names in the auction and end up with mediocre attack. Chahal was the only one who was consistent for RCB through the seasons and they let him go. Since Chahal was let go they have struggled to have any decent spinner in the playing XI.

Unless RCB really work on their bowling picks in the next mega auction they aren't going to win any titles. Virat might be scoring little slow this season but again he has been a stalwart for RCB over the years but repeatedly has been let down by poor bowling attacks. Like someone mentioned already, their management isn't patient enough and keep changing personnel which causes confusion within the camp and none of the players perform to their fullest ability. The one thing which CSK and MI have done consistently over the years.

Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara feels that RCB batters need to make up for their weak bowling line-up by scoring “20 or 30% more runs” since what they are currently doing is not enough. He said this while speaking on a program on a local Indian sports channel:

"They've got to understand that with the bowling attack that they've got, they have to try and hit 20 or 30% more runs because it's just not enough. So, they need to break their innings together and say we need to get so much in the powerplay, middle overs and the death, but nobody is getting into batting form, nobody is getting into bowling form as well, and it's a team that is just not in the top 6 or 7 in this tournament. They have to improve so much, to really be a factor, to sort of challenge the teams. Just like KKR have got a good bowling attack. So, it's good to see the batters getting runs but they need an injection of good bowlers and positive thinking in that squad."

"They've not been able to get it right at all, they are not bad bowlers. You look at [Reece] Topley, you look at [Mohammed] Siraj, they are international bowlers and I believe that something is wrong, they are not getting their game plan properly, they are not bowling in areas that the batters are weak in. I think they are just running in and bowling sort of into the pitch or up to the bat, not thinking of the weakness of the players. When bowling to Ishan Kishan you've got to get the ball to nip back into him and not give him any room. It's just so free for all."

"Quite happy with Virat Kohli coming in after him with the new ball, he said the wicket was sticky. Virat would have done better looking for the ball, getting his boundary, but he went ultra-aggressive and got out.”

They are the South Africa of the IPL with a lot of fancy players but can't win anything big. :D

RCB is another version of Lahore Qalandars who spend a lot of money but on the wrong players.

THey are the worst at the auction table. They never ever learnt the art of constructing a T20 team. They always lacked in one area or the other. Kohli as a captain was also poor. Faf is just continuing the poor captaincy legacy. For bizzarre reason they left out CamGreen against Mumbai Indians. Last time on that same ground Green made a 44 ball 100 when he played for MI. If you look at the amount of talent they let gom it will be staggering. For some reason anyone who joined RCB suddenly started underperforming. DK iss the exception.

RCB has a poor bowling lineup and they are not going to win anything until they solve this problem. 4 bowlers got hit for more than 50 runs each for the first time in the t20s. This shows how poor their bowlers are. Batting can win them a few games but this bowling line-up is not going to win them any tournament.

RCB pummeled SRH today. Not sure whether to call it a upset or some good performance from RCB.

The things with Kohli in RCB is that the whole set up, team works to make Kohli look good. Winning tournaments or matches even is secondary many times. Kohli has had unparalleled (not the only one but very huge) say and influence in getting the players who play for RCB. The Women’s RCB team already one tournament while Kohli couldn’t do it for so many years. The common denominator in all the failures is Kohli and how he has influenced the team so far.

I am so glad Kohli got kicked out as Indian Team captain. The way Kohli plays now, there is no reason to select him for T20 World Cup except the sentiments about his past great innings. Unfortunately Father Time doesn’t wait for no one. Time to move on from Kohli for both RCB and ICT. Will they have the guts? Doubt it.

I would call this an upset. why? because SRH was smashing each and every side in this IPL but once their top-order failed, the whole team collapsed and RCB took advantage of it.

Kohli played a beautiful test innings though and if they had lost this game, Kohli would have been blamed.

Virat bhai didnt say any word when his team was losing, right after winning a game aggression came out lol

Sorry kohli. You have not silenced anybody. 200 was well below par on that surface. We know you are good at chasing below par total. But while setting India always ends up 20 to 30 runs short due to this strike hogging.

Will Jacks unbelievable inning saved the day for Kohli. He will play a similar inning at middling strike rate in the World Cup but unfortunately there won’t be Will Jacks (ot Head, Klassen type) to save the day for India when it matters.

KL Rahul, Virat, Shubhman Gill - these selfish players would never let India win the World Cup.

He wants India to lose another trophy in his presence. He doesn't want to break the losing streak. So its been 17 years and his team didn't win even once. There is only word to describe this: Panauti. :inti

Biased post. RCB lost 2009 final against deccan chargers. Kumble was the captain of RCB and gilchrist was the captain of deccan chargers(old SRH) . RCB lost a close game.

In additon to being unlucky, RCB's chinnaswamy/Bangalore ground did not help RCB offering no home team advantage. RCB is like indian team of the last decade, came close to winning an ICC trophy but came short every time. when a team does not win for long time, they forget the art of winning championships.

Kohli is not the reason for RCB's performance. Historically they lost close finals which is continuing. Lack of support from other team members in 2016 led to their best chance of winning title. IPL unlike world cup knock outs has different format of 1 and 2 in playoffs getting two chances in the semis before playing the final. Unless a team ends up 1 or 2 in IPL play offs, the odds of winning become less which is why RCB despite reaching play offs in 2020,2021,2022 did not win the title.

Kohli's captaincy was terrible. Kohli's way of building a side was also terrible. Shane watson once left the franchise said this in his book. None of the players looked secure with their spots as per him. Chopping was always around the corner. THey never build a team. They assembled individuals and randomly slotted them hoping all would click. That is not how you win matches. There has to be some level cohesion. Infact Kohli built India exactly the same way. Top heavy. Never built a bullet proof unit anytime. MS DHoni had far terribe resources. Some journey men bowlers. He and Fleming always managed to put together a TEAM. Kohli never built a TEAM. That is why they never won. Australia won so many trophies because they always played as a team. No superstar culture.

Man of the Match awards by Indian batters for RCB in IPL

Virat Kohli - 17 MoMs
All other batters - 17 MoMs

It is an interesting trend to see the support for Kohli by the local posters. That's what you gall backing your players.

This is not Kohli v Babar. This is Batsman A v Batsman B who are usually top run getters each year, play at a decent clip, lose matches.

Bat B is annihilated by his own unfortunately. Its sad.

Kohli is a bad man manager compared to dhoni, sort of aussie interpersonal skills with no filters often bordering on perform or perish. Since his work ethich is next to none, he expected the team to be an extension of his work ethich which did not work.

In addition, he led RCB to 2016 final in addition to play offs in 3 other occassions.

Rohit reached semis of World T20 which Kohli couldn't in 2021. Virat could not win WTC either. And India also had a more dominant run in the 2023 World Cup under Rohit compared to Virat's team in 2019.

India 'doctored' 2023 World Cup final pitch: Mohammed Kaif's bombshell charge

Former India cricketer Mohammed Kaif has alleged that India doctored the ODI World Cup Final pitch against Australia in Ahmedabad. Kaif alleged that he saw the pitch changing colour in the lead-up to the final.

I was there for three days. Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid inspected the pitch every day for 3 days ahead of the final. They stood beside the pitch for an hour every day. I saw the pitch change its colour. There was no watering the pitch, no grass on the track. India wanted to give Australia a slow track. This is the truth, even if people don't want to believe it," Kaif said

Gavaskar was in no mood to let Kohli get away for speaking out against commentators, saying if his strike rate was low he deserves to be criticised.

'If you have a strike rate of 118, you come and face the first ball, and then you get out in the 14th or 15th over and your strike rate is 118 -- if you want applause for that, then that's a little bit different,' the batting great told Star Sports.
