What's new

Is Sanath Jayasuriya one of All-Time Greats in ODIs or just a Sri Lankan great?

Asian great I'd say.

He would have been found out if teams had bothered to do their homework on him. Never faced the scrutiny of analytics etc.

Stats might not show it but bro used to clap bowlers on a regular basis. He was definitely an atg in White ball. He used to bring that fear factor like Gayle and Rohit. He was one of those guys that Revolutionized how an opener should play. In my book, ATG in ODI

Exactly he has tonked 2Ws , and Indian trundlers got panicked against him

At a time when really good ODI players used to have an SR in the mid 70's, he played at an SR of 91.

Still a choker
Always a choker when it matters
And was trash vs Aus in Aus.

Their whole team had that tag but what he achieved in Tests was truly extraordinary, if he was asian he would be worshiped

ODI players with min 2000 runs and 200 wickets

Mostly players from.90s , just shows how supreme was the OdI cricket in 90s, elders in that time use to take leave from work to watch cricket
I myself skipped school plenty of times back then to watch bilateral ODI matches.

I think this list is faulty. :inti

There is no way Chris Cairns and Heath Streak rank higher than Jayasuriya.
The list is sorted by (Batting Avg - Bowling Avg).
All statistical AR chart does that , though it heavily favors Batting AR over bowling AR.
Regarding Cairns and Streak , they had advantage of playing lesser matches. If i increase limit to 2500 runs and 250 wickets then list becomes lot shorter. That will remove Cairns , Streak and Jadeja who are above Jayasuriya.
On the flip side if i reduce limit to 1500 runs and 150 wickets. It will feature Imran Khan pretty higher up with bat avg of 33.41 and Bowl avg of 26.61. However since Imran had only 182 ODI wickets he is missing from this list.
