Is Shoaib Malik the best ever Pakistani T20 batsman?

I am strictly talking about T20 cricket overall, domestic plus International cricket.

He has an average of 38 with the bat in domestic T20 cricket, which is amazing. While 27 with the bat at International level, which is not bad! He has decent S/R as well.

He has also won some domestic tournaments for his team, where he contributed vitally for his team with the bat. He also played a crucial knock in the 2009 World T20I final, hence a World Cup winner as well.

In my opinion, he is our best ever T20 batsman.

I've always been a big supporter of him and a huge fan. He had a subpar PSL but I would definitely call him one of the best Pakistani T20 batsmen. Hopefully PSL 2.0 is a better going for him

Always liked him as a LOI player. Ever since his comeback some while ago he's been great (so his average could be higher, would be great to know what his numbers have been post-return to the side). Definitely a solid number 5 you'd like in your team to finish things off in an innings.

Malik is overrated. Never shows up when his team needs him. He can bash useless spinners and looks like a Tailender when batting against good pacers. He should stick to these little T20 leagues where can be an asset.

He probably was, as he grew older he changed his style of play to accommodate deteriorating reflex's. To be fair, he wasn't brilliant at rotating the strike but had a big tank of release shots.

Shoaib Malik is a different beast altogether in domestic T20s. If you have Malik in your T20 side you would sneak your way into the semis at the very least (example of KK in the PSL )

He knows how to pace innings and accelerate at the correct moment.

However, Malik in international cricket is a shadow of his domestic self. He seems like a deer caught in the lights, unable to get bat to ball and often only nudges it around before holing out to deep mid wicket or long-on trying to up his strike rate.

Like it or not Shobby is the most accomplished sportsman in Pakistan atm and is a role model for young kids who want to be cricketer s or even want to pursue other sports.

He teaches you how to carry yourself as a person and no matter how much you achieve, to still stay humble. Something you don't learn from the Afridis, Akhtars and MoYos.

Pcb should kick itself for losing and backstabbing a young Shob who was about to hit new heights as captain.

Shobby is a current sports star, everyone you've mentioned is pretty much retired.

It's easier for a kid to take a role model who is currently playing obviously than retirees. It's why Akhtar looked up to Waqar or Wasim more than Fazal, because he witnessed them live.

In his prime, he was very good. He could hit big against any one. Then he grew older and lost his reflexes so he couldn't do it against pacers anymore and the pressure of captaincy got to him. I still say he was unfairly sacked as T20 captain. He has a fine record as T20 captain.

Shoaib Akhtar is a joke and no way near a role model. Imran Khan is probably a globally recognised role model and that's really the only name I'd have for Pakistan, with Misbah in there too no doubt. Both accomplished and have taken Pak to great heights.

Mentally boomed when he should have been in his prime after losing captaincy from 2009-2015. Was frustrating seeing him dominate in t20 leagues around the world and then look like a tailender in internationals.

Finally got over it when it was too late and he was too old, when he bashed some spin attacks down the order and couldn’t play pace anymore.

Captaincy ruined this guys career. It still turned out ok, but it should have been so much more.
