What's new

Is SuryaKumar Yadav the most overrated/overhyped player ever?

Even if surya scores duck in every single match from here on, he would have still done better than every pakistani batter ever .
The guy has unreal stats even after a pro longed slump he averages 38 with a strikte rate or 166! And it is not a small sample size either.
Age might be catching up with him but he will retire as a t20 legend.

Surya was top class T20 player, currently he is useless . :kp
Being out of form doesnt make one useless. Every cricketer has tone through this. Surya has lot of credit left in his account and India can afford to give him a little more time.

If he doesnt recover he can then retire as one of the greatest to play this format

Surya Kumar Yadav last 10 innings in t20

5(11 ), 47 (37), 7 (2), 2 (3), 0 (4), 14 (7), 12 (7),0 (3),1 (4), 4 (9)

These are more than enough game to replace him. We have so Many well deserved player's who are waiting for their chance.

Jaiswal, Iyer and Rinku easily can replace him now.

T20 cricket cannot afford out of form players. Sure they need some rope after stellar 2 years . But you would rather go with inform batsmen. THis is not test format to use that age old adage "Class is permanent, Form is temporary" and back players. Class, Form everything is temporary in this format. You just milk it when they are in form. When they go out of form move on to next batch.

Suryakumar Yadav is the biggest liability in this team in the last 2 yrs,he is no longer the same sky which we used to know.He is the captain and it's a big worrying sign.

He is not the clutch,he was avg in world cups.He is not the man for big occasion

Proven match winners always get longer rope- irrespective of format. Remember how kohli was scratchy for a long term and then won the game against pak with that Rauf 6.

Aldo going by that - would you move on from Bumrah because he has been out of form too?

I am not saying you are right or wrong but if you identify a player with skill and talent they get a long rope. Plus if you have an already established t20 legend you should give him longer rope. (According to me)

I know he has been going through a very bad patch. But I would give him another series for sure as he is just coming out of surgery.

Rinku is not the answer. He has not been scoring any runs for India and in IPL for last 1.5 years. He has been found out with that rising ball into the shoulder length.

SKy's form has been falling steeply ever since he took over captaincy. Given his age i think it is time to move on.

What if the form slump is related to the captaincy. Some people just cant handle both together.
Maybe its worth to him as a batter first a couple for a series to see if thats the case.

He is going through a bad patch of form in T20s and that’s why these failures are coming. His overall career record is phenomenal and will make it to India’s all time T20I XI.
