Is the Road to ICC Champions Trophy 2025 eerily similar to that of World Cup 2023 to Pakistan?

We were dominating B/C teams left right and center, going into the Asia Cup we were favourites for both the AC and the WTC. Then the phainty by India (similar to the one by NZ today) and Naseem getting injured (like Saim) and our whole balance and momentum was thrown off.

Seems like we're on a similar path here, any other similarities?

What B/C teams? Australia had their B team in one match. South Africa rested some of their main players in the final match of the series, after they had already lost the series. Get your facts straight before creating a entire thread on an assertion that isn't even true.

Ya bro people dont value those series wins pak had vs aus and sa its a big thing for asian team to win there most of the matches they had their best teams playing pak beat them easily in pak condition pak just need to add one more spinner team will have all bases covered.

Agree, dumb premise. We actually lost our most important player Saim Ayub which is why our winning chances have fallen down massively. We only have one match winner in our team in Fakhar, or maybe Shaheen at times - rest of them are bunch of jobbers or pro stat padders (at which they are struggling as well now).

Pakistan team was looking World beater against second string team's but as soon as teams chose to play with full strength team due to ICC tournament or ( in the ICC tournament) they are back to the reality .

Yea. That Australian batting line up sucked. Matt short/hackGurk, inglis at 4, Hardie at 6. Seemingly they were doing some experiment. . This has to be the first warnerless ODI series for them. Smith/Labu way past their sell by date in ODI. Without Travis Head this Austrlaian team is a very poor team in ODIs.

Pak will always never be in running for white ball cups anymore on true wickets because game has passed them on.

Pak batting is still in old era of get a slightly quick start in 10 ovs, then consolidate for 25 ovs and look to launch in last 15.

They dont have any player of doing a spot matchup takedown other than Fakhar and nobody else in the top 7 takes on role of breaking the game by batting at par plus strike rate.

Pak is also hamstrung by need to get 10 overs out of batting allrounders. In today's white ball cricket you need minimum 5 specialist options and then a sixth atleast just as cover against a bad matchup or situation.

They may win the odd match here or there by individual brilliance and luck, but they are only a spoiler team now. Never a contender.

Also, on the subject of B/C teams, I doubt Pakistan even have such teams. They play their best and only XI series after series, injuries notwithstanding.
