Aus will still win few matches when their pacers are back. They have weak batting lineup but i feel they can still win without warner and smith. Biggest test for them will be to stop india at home.

Pakistan took both of the next 2 ODI series to till the final ODI and lost there. Showed a lot of will power and strength during that time to turn the fortunes around. Australia haven't been able to do that yet.

When all three of Starc/Cummins/Hazlewood played in the same match during the last ODI series in Australia, England managed to score over 300 and win the game. It will be even easier for England in home conditions and flat phattas. India can score heavily against any attack. However, you're right in that you can't discount the Aussies.

I think the Pakistan 2010 fiasco was much worse. Pakistan (as a country) already is not viewed positively in the media as we all know and the fact that our players had cheated and got banned for a long time was awful for our team image and it was just an embarrassing moment for not just our cricket team, which it is for Australia, but for the whole of Pakistan. Many Pakistan fans stopped following cricket all together.

I don't think what is happening to Australia is anywhere near as bad. They have never been this good in bilateral series, even in January before sand paper gate, Australia still got pasted by England in an ODI series. So I don't think it is as bad as 2010.

Warner and Smith were in the team that lost to Indian 4-1.I dont think Smith would have made much difference to them in this series.

There is definitely an element of missing players but it is evidently true that batting in ODI cricket has changed and we haven't changed with it.
