Is this Pakistani team better than the one selected for the Australian tour?

Team A (current):

1. Azhar
2. Sami
3. Babar
4. Younis
5. Misbah
6. Asad
7. Sarfraz
8. Yasir
9. Wahab
10. Aamir
11. Sohail

Team B (not selected):

1. Azhar
2. Butt
3. Babar
4. Kamran
5. Umar
6. Hafeez
7. Malik
8. Sarfraz
9. Wahab
10. Aamir
11. Asif

For some reason, team B looks more balanced to me as it has more batting depth and 5 bowlers with 2 of them off-spinners.

Which team in your opinion will do better in Australia?

No. on current form the team selected would do better

Any person who thinks a test team with kami, malik and hafeez is better than the one with younis misbah and yasir etc is deluded

4,5,6 & 7 are chronic failures/chokers on Team B....so essentially you're saying a team of 7 players is better than that of 11. Pakistani fan logic

Butt? I seriously doubt he has the capability as a left handed batsman to face the seam and bounce of Hazelwood even on flat pitches of UAE, let alone Australia.

Im not even going to try and say anything against Hafeez and Umar. Their current form is for everyone to see. Umar getting ducks against pathetic bowlers in BPL and Hafeez has always been on the zenith of below average.

Malik retired gracefully. But even if he hadn't, he doesn't have it in him to play express pace of Starc. The only bowlers he survives against are spinners.

Then on top of that, you're not playing Yasir? How deluded can one be. No matter how unsuitable Australia may be for spinners you simply don't not play perhaps the best spinner in the world.

Mohammad Asif is low on match fitness and hasn't got the pace or skills anymore to even be regarded as a trundler.

And even if we were to imagine your team is perfect, who will be captain? Fixer Butt? Or is it brainless Kamran? Don't tell me it would be Azhar?! Someone wise once said, 'An army of sheep lead by a lion is stronger than an army of lions led by a sheep'. This statement would perfectly fit our certain scenario.

Misbah is not only a better captain than all of the choices that we have but is also one of the best captains to have played Test Cricket. His plans, analysis and approach towards a game is remarkable.

So, even though a couple of other guys could be in the squad, the current team is far better than the team you have proposed.

Middle-order is prone to collapses and bowling resources are lacking. Although we will never know for sure which one would perform better.

This squad was picked only for the Australian tour. Hafeez and Malik can't do worse than what Younis and Asad did in NZ. However, together they provide an off-spin bowling option.

Team A.

Team B is prone to more collapses.

Younis, Misbah and Shafiq can occupy the crease better than Kamran, Umar, Hafeez and Malik, even if they will end up with the same amount of runs.

Besides, Team B doesn't have Yasir who is our only good and reliable bowler.

I guess, this for Test series in AUS

Among the 2 teams, there are Azhar, Babar, Sarfy, Wahab & Amir are common. So, the comparison is

Sami - Butt
Misbah - Kamran
YK - Umar
Asad - MoHa
Yasir - Mian
Sohail - Asif

First - the 2nd team is a not a Test team. Of the 6 changes, MoHa & Mian are just not capable to handle Test bowling in AUS. Akmal bother can, but they are brittle - besides Kamran is yet to be Tested. Hypothetically Butt & Asif are better than Sami, Sohail - but I am not sure about their current status. Besides, Yasir is some class apart from Mian as Test player; hence Team A is far superior.

Obviously, if I take full potential or players at their prime, then may be team B will be edging past A because of Asif, Butt; but on realistic scenario, I'll back Team A.

Team B is far, far superior ODI side - absolutely no comparison.

Your team would be much better Down Under. My only reservation is Shoaib Malik - I would pick Hasan Ali instead or even Aamer Yamin.

Nah, It's easy to say that whoever is not playing is better. Current team is close to the best team Pakistan can have right now.

lol

not even close. Team B would produce the kind of results we had in 2010 vsAuz and vsEng

Team A is clearly better and its not even close

Lol Butt Umar, Hafeez in Australia??:))
Salman Butt - same age as Azhar Ali but two Test hundreds in Australia against better attacks than this one.

Umar Akmal - Test average of 30 in Australia but also 2 centuries in 2 Pakistan A v Australia A "Tests" in Australia.

As for Hafeez, the argument is simply this. Who is going to bowl off-spin to the 7 Aussie left-handers?

Lol. What an awful thread. Kami, Hafeez, Malik and Akmal will allow the Pakistan team to open up their own duck farm. Team 'A' is far better.

B seems like a more match winning combo.

OP finally gets it.

And if Team B lost the clamoring for Team A would be high again.

Yeah, a far better team struggling to cross 100. Team B would wipe the floor with this team.

B would be worse on the count that it does not involve any forward looking rebuilding of the team. If you unearth a new talent you at least have gained something from a series.

I'd like to see the following team sometime soon. Have no idea whether it will do better, but it would be a way forward.

1. Aslam
2. Fakhar
3. Azhar
4. Babar
5. Fawad
6. Salahuddin/?
7. Sarfraz
8. Yasir
9. Amir
10. Abbas
11. Pasha/Sadaf/Imran
