So, its looking likely that New zealand will whitewash us at our adopted home. I can't remember the last time New zealand beat us at home.

Our batting is a complete circus.Watching them bat is embarrassing to say the least. Bowling alone can't save this side from getting whitewashed.

Is this the weakest Pakistan test team ever ? Discuss

No.

However in terms of batting, it's terribly weak and probably amongst the worst ever for Pakistan.

Over the years Pakistan has always had at least one or two world-class Test batsmen - sadly this squad doesn't.

Don't think so, we have had pretty weak sides in the past as well. 2005 tour of India, we had one of the worst bowling attack of Razzaq, Sami and Afridi. Also the one when Rashid latif was captain and we lost to Zimbabwe at home.

2005 side still had batsmen of the calibre of Inzi, YK and MoYo. I don't see a single player in the current side - be it batsman or bowler - who can be put in the class of Inzi or YK.

The NZ team was not a weak team. They do deserve credit for coming from behind.

For me the biggest loser was Bilal Asif. Cant bowl even on a turning track and arguably the worst no.8 batsman.

Yes, Pakistan heavily invested in the likes of Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq in the hope of them becoming a MisYou or InzMo, but, in reality they’re just another FarYas (farhat and hameed)

Have we already forgotten the side that went to England in 2010 ?

No, those 2 poor shots form bilal and hasan have made us look very bad.
Drop Hafeez and Imam for Fakhar and saad/saud and it gets much better

Why is Shadab not picked over Bilal.... He is a better all rounder than him

2005, We had a pretty decent batting line up. This current team doesnt even have 1 decent tests batsmen, never mind any world class ones.

I think this is the weakest Pak test team. There is not a single player who the opposition fear....

But I genuinely feel that things will be far better in a couple of seasons

This is not the weakest test side. We probably have one of the worst test captains however. We actually almost won and dominated most of the match till the last 20 to 30 runs.

Joke thread...

Imran Farhat
Yasir Hameed
Salman Butt
Faisal Iqbal

This was our top 4 against Australia and England in 2010

The team was carried by the bowlers

Agreed. Sums up the current situation nicely. We have very good test match bowling with Abbas, Yasir and Hasan. Our batting is at its lowest. We need at least a couple of guys to put up their hand and say they can lead us out of this rut. Based on potential, one of them can be Azam, however, he is quickly turning into a Graeme Hick of our test team. PCB better sort this out quickly and hire him some sports psychologist.

Asad was doing great till he got out. I think he should be batted higher and hafeez should be dropped down.

Personally speaking, its a shame Malik retired from trsts because he could use someone like him in the UAE.

I also think we should bring fakhar in and fit him somewhere in our trst team. Our batting is looking really bad and desperate times call for desperate measures.

That being said, I nce we figure this out, our test side will rise, i am sure of it.. we have all the other ingredients..

So abbas, yasir and hasan ali are not feared? Or st least respected? Come on!

What the point of fearing and respecting when you can't win matches, one of the most overrated teams, I can't last time they won match..

O bhai meray, hawas bakhta kyon ho rahey ho.. didnt we just win against aussies?

Damn wrist slitters!! Besides i was talking about bowlers.. not batsmen!

This side's batting is equally bad, if not worse. This side is carried by the bowlers too.

Same team managed a drawn series vs Aussies in UK, But were poor during England series yes.

Could have drawn that English series as well if not for fixing in the last test. That 2010 side is better than this joke team, imo.

Abbas is very new and Hasan Ali is a v good bowler but nothing that would give you sleepless nights as batsman, and Yasir in last 3 tests hasn't been really threatening... My overall point is that bowlers like Wasim, Shoaib, Saqlain etc from past Pak teams used to really worry you as a fan, they could take you down from 150/2 to 200 all out, that part has simply vanished from your cricket and that is huge...

In batting, none of your batsman really threaten anything although I think Babar and Ul Haq will be really good in future

Plus the captain is very defensive, his style is to wait for batsmen mistakes, India can run with a captain like this but not Pakistan, you need someone who understands bowling and gambles....

But I am still hopeful that Pak will be better in another 18 months as Sarfaraz, Hafeez, Azhar etc won't be there....

P.S. I genuinely hope one of Amir or Hasan Ali or Abbas leads Pakistan

Nope. They are the weakest mentally though. Completely disintegrate on even the slightest signs of pressure. This was Asia Cup 18 all over again.

Not the worst - a batsman or two need to step up though - Fakhar, Azam, Haris are the three who could potentially.

Not sure if anyone has the class/temperament to deliver the way - Younis, Yousuf, Anwar, Inzi and to a degree Misbah did.
