Fun cricket ever since.
Not even close
Pakistan don't play enough tests for him to do be able to do that and he sucks in every other format
Pakistan don't play enough tests

In the test arena hes a great! Webguru any stats please
Just goes to show that class is permanent. Still one of the finest Test batsman in world cricket.
Happy birthday.
Just goes to show that you still don't watch a lot of cricket.
Younis averages in the low 30's in Test cricket over the past 2 years or so against non minnows.
YK is just a top Test player who is lucky that Inzamam backed him or else he was toast with a mid 30's Average at one point!India tour saved him!

I think he will be remembered for making a classical partnering duo with Mohammad Yousaf. I mean these two together always brought out Pakistan from tough situations. He will be remembered by me for being part of one of the best middle order batsmen Pakistan ever had. Him, Inzi, Yousaf sound Iconic.
Happy Birthday.
Not an all time great, but is easily a Pakistan great.
* There are 5 batsmen with 4 Test centuries in 4th innings and YK is one of them other 4 are Gavaskar, Ponting, Smith and Sarwan. (all of them average 50+ in 4th innings except sarwan he average 37).
* 3 out of those 4 centuries of YK are against South Africa and one against India.
* Younis is the only Pakistani batsman with 1000+ 4th innings runs.
* He is involved in 47 century partnerships, Miandad was involved in 50 so he can break that record too.
* He got a Test century in every country except Australia.
* and there are many other records he hold in Test cricket like century on debut and most runs against Murli in an innings etc
I'd go with this. he belongs in the bracket with Dravid, S Waugh, Chanderpaul. National treasures to their country but probably not quite in the all nations, all time greats discussion.
No, a level below Dravid and Waugh certainly.
belongs with Chanderpaul, but then again Chanderpaul has a better ODI record.
Younis and Jayawardene are strikingly similar, but Jayawardene is a bit more pleasing to the eye and has played some quality knocks in ODIs and on big occasions in spite of averaging a touch above Younis.
Dravid and Waugh weren't great ODI batsmen either but they were clearly superior to Younis in Tests.
Webguru your a genius! Also I read a post that said he doesn't deliever, if thats the case why has he got 4 4th innings centuries.

No way in hell is he anyway equal to Dravid, let alone S Waugh.he belongs in the bracket with Dravid, S Waugh, Chanderpaul.

Apart from being a great batsman, also great by his on/off field conduct.
Never heard anything controversial about him.
Arguably the strongest test batsman from Pak since Miandad
How long can he carry on for? Born in 75 (according to YK himself) so at 38 he's pretty old. Even legends like Ponting and Tendulkar struggled once they got to their late 30s. Alternatively players like Misbah and Chanderpaul carry on as if being 38/39 is nothing.
Can anyone tell me the difference between ATG and Pakistani great? Plz![]()
VVS Laxman an Indian 'great', but not an 'All Time Great'. Brian Lara a West Indian 'great' as well as an 'All Time Great'.
