Quetta in dire straits at the moment - cannot afford to lost any more games.

Abu Dhabi: Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed emphasized that his side will be playing in a must-win situation as they restart Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six campaign.

2019 PSL champions will take on Islamabad United tonight in the 18th match of the season. Gladiators are at the bottom of the points table with two points.

“We are already behind on the table and cannot afford any more defeats. If we want to make it to knockout stage we have to win each match from here on so it is all to play for in Abu Dhabi. We have to put in the best in every department of the game to stay in the competition,” Sarfaraz said while talking to reporters in a virtual presser.

Sarfaraz identified that the side has to improve their bowling and fielding. “Yes we had a horrendous run in Karachi when our game plan went haywire, particularly our fielding. That is surely one area we’ve been working on diligently,” he added.

Wicketkeeper-batsman opined that every individual knows his role and won’t repeat their previous mistakes.

“Every member of the team is capable of delivering and making the best use of his abilities. What we want from our batsmen is to stay at the wicket and make sure that there are enough wickets to go for a kill in the later part of the 20 overs. And when it comes to restricting opponents we should make the best of our bowling abilities,” he maintained.

IU looking quite weak. Zafar and Akif should be given a go today. Pitches are good for spinners.

Islamabad United win the toss elect to bowl first against Quetta Gladiators

Musa Khan and Akif Javed are playing today.

Aleem Dar putting doubt into a kids kind by warning him about his follow up. Akif already has a very risky landing with his feet

Good shape from Akif. One of the youngsters whose progression I am most looking forward to.

This Muhammad Waseem Guy is so handsome...easily the best looking guy in the Pakistan team :ik

Surely Faf has never faced any Indian bowler in the IPL who hurry him like this

Well bowled Wasim.

Faf’s tendency to play back to good length/ fuller deliveries have caused trouble for him quite a few times recently.

Refreshing to see 2 youngsters bowling above average pace with good control

Poor effort by Munro there. Should have dived head forward!

Decent pace bowlers these two!

Absolutely. These two have good basics, rather than just rushing in and trying to ball fast all over the place and leaking runs. Accuracy of good length is the basic of fast bowling and you should be able to hit that with certain consistency, rest of the skills are build upon this. Some other young fast bowlers around in Pak sometimes put the basics in the back burner and that never consistently works in international cricket.

Same is the issue I have with some of our young batsmen, their basics of batting are pretty poor sometimes.

Akin n wasim have hurried the batsmen with pace and bounce on a usually docile abu dhabi track. Some real potential

144.3 kph from Musa. Lets see if he has worked upon his overall bowling

Good rise up delivery from Musa gets Sarfaraz

Sarfaraz gone. Shouldn't play these cheeky shots all the time. Play normal cricketing shots.

Azam's performance in this game should have no bearing on his selection for Pakistan. Not easy to bat on a sluggish pitch with 80m boundaries.

We have no batting talent what so ever even afghanistan has more no wonder we have three or even four of their batting stars in our league

Its disgusting to see Azam pile on stones yet making it to national team. The selectors are making a joke of the game clearly fitness has no bearing in selections.

Azam has been getting better of Shadab since national T20. Shadab needs to turn the tide

Shadab is Azam's bunny. Not seen any batsmen dominating a bowler as much as Azam has dominated Shadab.

Who is Jake weatherald.

Aussie opening batsmen who represents Adelaide Strikers in BBL. Was sixth highest scorer in BBL 2021 and third best Aussie batsman averaging 36 with a SR of over 140. He is rated pretty well in Australia

Seriously Azam didn't ran 2 on that top edge? Can this kid run 2 at all, I'm sure he will never run 3 in limited overs game.

The female commentator....How did she get in here like I can get you want inclusivity but why not get a play by play female commentator?

Excellent comeback from Akif post injury. 4 overs for 18 runs and a wicket

Faheem’s absence being felt in IU’s bowling as well

That was quick from Musa. Hopefully Russel is OK

Thats one hell of a comeback by Musa in the over. Rattled Russel with shortball twice in two balls

Musa’s shortball is decent but, needs to work on his accuracy of good/ fuller length ball as thats where sometimes he is all over the place with ball rarely targeting the stumps.
