Islamabad United beat Lahore Qalandars by 71 runs in 17th match of PSL 5

Why fix something when it is not broken. U drop fakhar the only impact player at the top and choose fixer over him. I think Crowd should drag aqib outside the dressing room aur chapalon se maro ise. First appoint sohail captain, and that is not his fault as he is not a natural leader or a grt player.

Lahoris should choose Multan and support them as a punjab team. LQ is already out of the tournament again. 🤦*♂️

Not only that but fakhar and lynn have the highest partnership record in psl by average. also why bowl first!

Lahore back to be the football which everybody kicks. Even in the last game they would have lost if Sarfraz Ahmed was a bit competent captain.

Who can beat ISLU now?

Wow what a perfect combination today. Great spin bowling. Top fast bowling. Excellent batting.

Invincible. Title winners.

This is what I mean. Dont know who is making decisions here, i dont think its Sohail decision as he not a strong character or intl superstar. Its Aqub and he has destroyed LQ. I want Mohd Wasim or Rashid Latif Head Coach. Captain i will go with Fakhar Zaman or Parchi Imam ul haq, kid has a brain and possibly a good leaders skills.

The combination was messed up because Akif was injured.

Yeah, and Amad, Faheem were spraying it everywhere, ruining our bowling.

Spin needed some boost and Zafar has done well.

The best PSL team is back in form.

Future of LQ should be like this-

Mohd Wasim Head Coach.
Rashid Latif - Mentor
Bowling Coach, Mohd Asif
Captain - Rohail Nazir or Imam. Lets go with youngsters and groom them.

Fakhar was the worst captain last season. Lahore should do a trade with Zalmi of Imam and Amin with useless Fakhar and Shinwari.

Fakhar is not bad, he needs a guidance, someone who plays sensible shots like Imam, and that will keep Fakhar on the ground and play shots only when they are there to be hit
Lynn and Fakhar is a hit and miss combo.

I'll take Fakhar over Salman butt any day. At least Fakhar can play a good innings 1/10 of the time. Salman butt doesn't even have that capacity

You forgot the Karachi game?

Some bad performances don't mean ISLU isn't the best.

Their combination was far from good. And it's only been a few matches.

They'll thrash Khi again when/if they meet.

Fakhar scores 10s 20s every 7/10 games that too at a good ST. Butt's best was today's game.

Fakhar is not that bad, he's pathetic. Lahore should have dropped him this season yet they signed that joker on platinum contract. Amin and Imam are much better option. Even Sami Aslam would be better than that hack.

Another reason why lq should remain at the bottom of the table.

Fakhar problem is that he does not want to accept his problems in technique , and work on them.

Lahore Qalandars makes it seem that Pakistani talent pool is Zimbabwe talent pool. So many options but, pick the worst.

U think we will win 5 in a row. i will do my face kaala and send pic here if that happens.

na kar yaar, :)))
koi aqib javed ko dhondho, ya wo match khatam honay say pahlay he ghar chala gaya ? :))

Yeah definitely Lahore should trade with PZ for Imam and Amin.

Having a top 3 of Lynn, Imam, Amin can be quite solid and fairly consistent. With their bowling attack and decent lower order hitters like Hafeez, they can be a strong team if managed right.

Last wicket partnership was entertaining , Shirwani looked good with bad , but United won by 71 runs

Lahore, 4 March 2020:

Colin Munro’s unbeaten 87 and a consolidated bowling performance set up Islamabad United’s third win of the season as they beat Lahore Qalandars by 71 runs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Wednesday.

Islamabad United, after being asked to bat, put a daunting 198 for three after the opening pair of Luke Ronchi and Munro provided a profound 103-run opening stand.

Their partnership, which stretched 11.1 overs, came to an end on Mohammad Hafeez’s first ball of the match as Ronchi, who made 48 off 31 balls and hit six fours and a six, was caught at deep backward square leg.

Munro ensured that runs continued to flow. The left-handed batsman was at the batting end for almost half of the United’s innings, facing 59 balls, and smashed eight fours and three sixes. He was later named man of the match.

Colin Ingram made a useful 19-ball 29, which included six fours, in the middle-0rder, but it was Asif Ali’s blistering 20 not out off just six balls, out of which three went for fours and one for a six, which ensured Qalandars’ required run-rate touched almost 10 an over.

United’s three wickets were shared equally amongst Salman Irshad (one for 43), Mohammad Faizan (one for 41) and Hafeez (one for 11).

Lahore Qalandars, in their reply, perished for 127 in 18.5 overs.

Problems compounded for Lahore Qalandars from the very first over as Dale Steyn struck on the second ball, accounting for the wicket of Chris Lynn (o).

Hafeez, who had scored 98 not out against the same opposition at the same venue earlier in the tournament, was the next batsman to fall as Akif Javed dismissed him in the fourth over as the all-rounder scored 10 off 13 balls.

A 41-run partnership between Salman Butt (21 off 24) and Ben Dunk (25 off 15) instilled hope amongst the Lahore Qalandars’ fans but Zafar Gohar and Shadab Khan struck at regular intervals throughout the middle-phase of the innings and shared five wickets between them.

Zafar returned three for 31, while Shadab took two wickets for 21 runs.

Rumman Raees cleaned up the tail, taking three wickets for 29 runs.

With an unbeaten 30 off 13 balls, Usman Shinwari was the top-scorer in Qalandars’ innings.

Islamabad United are now placed second on the points table with seven points – coming from three wins and a washed-out match – while Lahore Qalandars, with four defeats from five matches, are at the bottom of the table.

On Thursday, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators will face off at the Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, in the 18th match of the ongoing HBL PSL 2020.

Scores in brief

Islamabad United 198-3, 20 overs (Colin Munro 87 not out, Luke Ronchi 48, Colin Ingram 29, Asif Ali 20 not out)

Lahore Qalandars (Usman Shinwari 30 not out, Ben Dunk 25, Salman Butt 21; Rumman Raees 3-29, Zafar Gohar 3-31, Shadab Khan 2-21)

Result Islamabad United win by 71 runs

Massive shame that the Number 9 outscored the entire team.

With Fakhar, Butt and Lynn all struggling, one possible solution can be pushing Mohammad Faizan to open. While in the PDP, he opened and averaged 98 with a strike rate of 143.
