Islamabad United defeat Lahore Qalandars by 49 runs in Karachi to qualify for the play-offs

I am back to enjoying PSL in full mood now that it's in Pakistan again. Very interesting match for me, dont know who to root for. I'm from Islamabad but Lahore is my favorite city. Let's see what happen

Fakhar will lead his side to a win here.

The boundaries are too short for him.

Babar should score heavily here. He has been the biggest disappointment this season in my opinion. Considering his form in South Africa, he was expected to among the top scorers.

Good thing is some top cricket officials from around the world are also here for Pak leg. Hopefully they can take a positive message home to their respective boards and countries.

He’ll not be pressured to hit it hard.

What a joke. These boundaries remind me of Singapore 1996 and Jayasuria. Hopefully sanity will prevail and tomorrow we will see bigger boundaries. You can't be playing international cricket with 55 meter boundaries.

Show-off's 4 overs could be the difference here. He could get caned here, but if he holds his nerve, he could bowl United to victory. Lamichhane is a much better spinner and he got caned.

Faheem would also need to change his length. Won't get cheap wickets with his tame back of length deliveries on this ground.

I wonder if the pressure gets to him. His teammates and coaching management are always highly praising him like he is from another planet.

Only one side of the boundary is 54m... the rest are all between 60 and 70m, but do continue with your whining. It is thoroughly entertaining.

Fakhar and Devcich will need to click today if there is any chance for LQ to chase this.

His weak power game is exposed on UAE wickets. In Karachi, he won't need to muscle the ball and will also pick up a lot of fours. I am hoping to see him register his first T20 hundred here.

I might be jumping the gun here, but Rauf gives me the Wahab vibe. I fear he is another false dawn and the hype will fizzle out quickly.

Yorkers are pretty decent when he gets them right.

What do you think of Mohammad Hasnain?

Don't like his action, but I do like the idea of integrating him in the national setup early. If his action can be improved without compromising his pace, he could be a decent prospect.

Rauf is faster than Shaheen

His average speed is definitely higher. I have seen Shaheen hitting 147 kph against NZ in UAE. Shaheen is still young but he has got a lot of other weapons than pace alone.

I'm a bit puzzled, it's been 2 or 3 years since he made his debut yet he still looks scrawny and weak. I wonder if he and the coaching management are even trying to improve his power-hitting.

Said it a week ago. Rauf is a different bowler without reverse swing. If he doesn't get that late movement he becomes a lot easier to cope with.

Because he hasn't played much cricket on the highest level he doesn't have those other qualities yet. His only weapon is pace + reverse swing which won't be available everywhere.

People disliked this comment of mine but he has a lot to learn.

Yes action can be worked on. Round armish nature of this action can help him with reverse swing in the middle and late part of the innings.

His power hitting has improved a lot, but it's mainly on faster wickets.

This ground is child's play for Asif with no international pressure to cope with. At least Faheem didn't get the opportunity to score cheap runs here.

Yeah agree.

But i think Haris is reversing it and his action will support conventional swing with new ball too. Does he get swing with new ball?

I think he has tools to play red ball cricket too. Just needs more match time and a season or 2 of first class.

Rauf is the most economical pacer in this match so far,and he got few boundaries of edges.

Man Delport has made up for Ronchi Golden Duck dismissal, he has given Lahore a proper phainti :uakmal

Such poor cricket. Might as well replace bowlers with machines. The amount of good balls which were just about going over a small 50 meter boundary is shocking.

If this is where we select players I’m shocked and not surprised we are now Minnows

It is not just about strength though. He doesn't have the natural ability for hitting big sixes. He is a pure timer of the ball.

Thank God the squad for Aussie series was selected before this match. Batsmen and bowlers can't be judged on a 50 meter boundary and a road pitch. :P

Terrific batting here, lets see if Fakhar can get his mojo back because this is the match to do it in.

He surely has potential, needs to work on his direction and needs to keep playing domestics rather than waiting for the PSL next year.

Deserves a go in International T20s on his performances in this year's PSL.

Ramiz Raja: " Asif Ali is a star in making if Pakistan persists with him rather than giving him chances here and there". :babar

Haris has bowl well, very few bad balls and you can't do much better with 2 set hitter and small fences

I just hate how the commentators are forced to say "HBL PSL" every single time.

Asif is great for T20s but not ODIs

He was given decent chances in both T20s and ODIs but couldnt capitalize on them. Cant deny his hitting ability but question is can he replicate that at international stage and with bit more consistency.

Would have loved to see England vs West Indies on this ground.

He is judging him on a road track + mere 50 meter boundary.

Exactly. The guy do have the hitting ability but with his current consistency and lack of ability to perform at international stage in his first few opportunities, he is far far away from being called a star. I hope he can improve as we would definitely need some batsmen with high SR in LOI set up in future.

He generates lot of pace with small run up. And can bowl pretty good Yorkers, he has bowled more 145+ deliveries than anybody else in this PSL. Today’s extremely small ground and fast out field messed up Afridi and Rauf a bit. If you are bowling 145+ that is not a ground.

Rauf should work with national team, I still think he can be an asset in last 20 overs of ODIs, his Yorkers are already better than everybody else in national team...

Wahab basis problem of breaking wrist at release was never fixed, otherwise pace and fitness was never an issue for him,.. We don’t want to change his action a whole lot, that will ruin his strength. He has been bowling with this action for 10 years in tape ball, that’s why he can bowl this fast and those tailing Yorkers. He has played hard ball only for year or so.

How ridiculous does the boundary line look. At least we have a high scoring match to look forward. Though I don't think Lahore can pull this off without Ab.
