There was a lot of competition among spinners in his younger days so he planned on moving to Australia. Tahir had decent number of FC wickets in Pak before he decided to move to SA due to the number of spinners in Pak

Faheem has been royally bamboozled here in this innings by Fawad.

I think its because of our system too.

Usman Qadir was worse than a third grade spinner here but in Aus he is becoming better and better and i wont be surprised if he plays for them soon. Fawad is easily superior to some of the spinners we played in last 15 years.

The wicket isn't ideal but it has nothing to do with the fact that Faheem hasn't picked even one delivery off Fawad's hand. As I type this, Faheem edges one to the slip fielder.
 
It's pitched outside leg and if you can't read him from the hand, then do it through the pitch

You know it's going to be a googly 100%, but he is still trying play him through the legside
 
Fawad seems to be a much better bowler than Shadab. Flight, googlies, length everything is better.

At 37 he might be looking better with experience but he is nowehere near peak Danish Kaneria, Saeed Ajmal, Abdul Rehman etc.

In Australia there are 5-10 spinner max in their FC if we count so competition is much less. However our system isnt perfect either
 
Why not give Amad Butt a go instead of Faheem? He offers more with the ball and it's not hard to outdo him with the bat.

Fawad and Sikander were picked up on the basis of their Pakistani descent, both are average cricketers - the latter even more so.

I meant that's the reason Fawad has looked phenomenal today in general. On friday he looked mediocre.

Faheem just played two important cameos back to back and has been Islamabad's best pacer by far.

Especially when you consider how bad Faheem is against spin.
 
Faheem needs to work hard to get atleast decent against spinners

He looks better than Abdur Rehman who was a one trick pony. Even Zulfiqar Babar was better than Rehman but he too was robbed off his best years.

I think Amad offers more with the ball. On his batting I'm not sure but he has played good knocks in domestic cricket.

Rehman has 99 test wickets @ 28 and huge number of FC wickets. However in LOIs its arguable at max. If a spinner cant play for Aus there is very low probability he could have played for Pak considering the number of spinners Pak has

He may "offer more" but it will be difficult for him to match Faheem's actual performances with the ball.

Yes. For me that's what Pakistan needs. A batting all rounder not a bowler (only). Faheem Ashraf isn't in the top 3 pacers in the country, hence he doesn't fit in the team in my opinion only as a bowler . . and Hasan Ali is a better batsman than him

He'll offer more with the bat. Faheems bowling is nothing special. Doesn't swing ,doesn't seam it , doesn't extract any major bounce, and isn't express.

Bell could have easily played 1 down, he is technically still one of the best players around and is decent form as well

Not in my opinion . .

First, the management needs to decide is Faheem an all rounder or a bowler?

If he is a bowler, is he in the best 3 pacers in the country? For me, the answer is no!

If he is an all rounder, is he capable of batting at number 8 with Shadab at 7? For me again the answer is no because Faheem can't bat . . I can't remember a single innings of note in LOI from him . . I rate hasan ali a better batsman than Faheem . .

Imad is a better bat than both shadab and Faheem in LOI . .

Pakistan needs a batting all rounder . . not a bowler in the disguise of an all rounder

He definitely does get seam and good bounce along with bowling at good pace.

There's a reason why he's been so successful in T20s for both Pakistan and IU.

Talat can be a 6th option at max not good enough to be 5th and on wickets who provide assistance to pace bowling where you need a pace bowling all rounder to replace either Shadab or Imad who will that guy be? We dont have a lot of options.
 
What I love about Asif Ali is the fact that when he hits the ball, THE BALL REMAINS HIT! Very clean striker and huge sixes!

T20s aren't the gold standard for me my friend. I want to be elite in ODIs and tests.
 
Asif really had a poor SA T20 series considering his ability in T20s

I think this should be the last PSL for Irfan Jnr, this is his 3rd one and he is still mediocre.
 
Next week Corey Anderson, Collin Munro, DJ Bravo, Dan Christian, Ben Dunk, Sandeep Lamichanne will most probaby be joining their squads.

How many times have I seen Asif Ali get out like that!

Slower ball, long hop which he just pumps to square leg.

His shot placement is dreadful
 
Asif Ali needs to realize that against slow ball only time wont be enough he needs to add more force as well

Fair point.

My disagreement is with calling Faheem Ashraf an all rounder . . for me, he is not a batsman . . so if you want to play a 4th pacer, you might as well play someone who will give you some runs too . . cuz at the end of the day our problem stems from our very brittle batting line up . . and so we can't take the risk of having Faheem bat at 6 wickets down . .

Btw, I do think Faheem is a decent bowler . . btu he is playing in the all rounder slot . . and he isn't an all rounder. . that's my only point

Agreed. He hasnt done much to be called an all rounder, howver his few FC centuries and an innings like first match of this PSL gives hope to selectors and Mickey that he can be developed. As there arent many pace bowling all rounders around, Aamir Yamin has a decent record.
 
Samit Patel's batting is the stuff nightmares are made of. Meanwhile, Parnell is making the other United batsmen look like duds!
 
Mohammad Nawaz never fails to impress me in the field.

But his bowling was exposed horribly in the Asia Cup.
