In Nagpur, bats got out due to magic deliveries.

Here majority of dismissals are self inflicted.

Kohli - Chased a wide one.
Rahul - Threw it away.
Ashwin - Defense hits boot. Unlucky.
Jayant - Doesn't keep his foot back after playing a defense.
Jaddu - Slog

I think we are done.

Aus won't crumble to 100 here (unless the pitch has gone completely rogue which I don't know for now...just tuning in now).

90% of Aussie win. All in the hands of Ashwin and Jadeja now.

You couldn't have been morr wrong even if you had tried. The batsmen played those poor shots because they were worried about the turn.

Why are people arguing whether it is a turner or not? Do people from other countries have to justify why they produce green tops or flat wickets that suit them? What's the point of touring other countries if you only want pitches that suit you?

Its not about whether its a turner or not (which it is).

But when you have established its an Day 8 pitch on Day 1, then it creates a cozy narrative wherein you can praise Australia's score whatever that may be or explain away its failure if it indeed collapses. It sets things up in a way where Australia's 260 can be called an incredible achievement and India's performance with the bat today just reinforces it.

With that being said, there are quite a few non-Indian posters who truly believe this is a rank turner on day 1 but NOT for the purpose of creating any narrative or denying credit or giving undue credit to anyone. While I would disagree with them reg this pitch, it makes for an interesting and engaging discussion nonetheless.

So Warner was worried about turn when he chopped onto the stumps? Smith was worried about turn when he decided to hit the ball in the air? Mitch Marsh missing a straight ball was worried about turn?

Your entitled to your opnion but unfortunately your coming across as biased and not being very objective.

If India loose couple of matches on pitches like these, specially series, they will stop making them... I remember against England (series before last one), they made rank turner, in which Dhoni demanded, it should turn from the first ball, they lost that match thanks to KP and Monty, after that they did not revisit that strategy till SA series. Where they were worried about AB and Amla ;-)

On a turning pitch, the ball that does not turn is a wicket taking ball, I am not joking ;-)

I have mention this before: back in 80s, Pakistan and India were playing on such a pitch, ball was turning a lot, but spinners were still not getting wickets... Bedhi commented "When wicket has so much turn, you don't have to" , means don't give revs to the ball, just bowl, next day spinners started taking wickets on straighter ones... Obviously they were not bowling every ball without revs...

Iqbal Qasim and Tauseef ran rampant the last day and despite Gavaskar getting several lives, they could not prevent Imran's tigers from winning the game and taking the series as well!

Wicket should be true, either pacy, greentop or turner, not under prepared like this one , where luck not skill of the batsmen are tested.
 
Check this out, this is the Day 1 (or if you like to call it Day 8) pitch right at the fall of Warner...all these spots over the pitch and on the grass are pitch debri/loose pieces of dirt all over the field!

If this is how day 1 pitch should look like than only God knows what a day 5 pitch usually looks like (according to Indian poster's arguments):srt

^^^I couldn't take the best shot but these loose pieces of grovel/debri/dirt were all over the pitch and area around it...it looked more like a random piece of land some kids decided to play on rather than an Int'l pitch on the first day before lunch!

Yes, precisely. They were playing for the turn and thus, got dismissed by ones that didn't turn. Not every delivery on a rank turner, turns but the ones that do turn a mile and confuse the batsmen.

Credit goes to Australia and also Indians played horrid cricket, on any other day they will score 500+ on the same wicket, one needs to be prepared for the knives to be out, happened to all teams on top and it was bound to happen after winning against England on non turners

Ahaha exposed.

Warner was dimissed about by Yadav in the 1st innings so it had nothing to do with the spin.

Smith came down the pitch so if he was that worried about the pitch, I don't think he would come down the wicket to play an ariel shot. It was just a poor shot.

You've been exposed for the longest time yet still persist in continuing your self-inflicted humiliation for the whole forum to see. That was a general comment and I wasn't specifically referring to Warner's dismissal.

Smith was doing what Starc did so well later on and tried attacking the Indian spinners to through them off their length. He was put into that frame of mind because he knew that eventually one would come with his name on it and he would be better served trying to get as many as he could before that.

Give it up, man. You were wrong. It happens.

Sure it was a general comment.

He had faced 90 odd balls so he didn't mind occupying the crease. It was just a poor shot, even his reaction when he was dimissed you could see he knew he had made a mistake.

Some of the dismsaals might have been due to the nature of the pitch but most of the Australian wickets were due to just giving it away. Some of the Indian wickets were the same but some were due to the pitch as it had gotten difficult to play.

It's not about right or wrong , I'm just giving my opnion. The difference the other posters know I'm not giving an opnion to be biased and hateful towards India.

The curator should be given a polite warning that this is not on.

Australia are Grade A FTBs but there is a middle ground between a flat pitch and what we saw here.

Indians would be gloating all day if they ended up winning this match, regardless of the pitch. All this whining, after losing at home on made to order pitch.

Not really. How much celebration did you see after every match in the NZ or England series?

All pitches are "made to order", so I'm not sure how it makes a difference.

I don't mind any disaster if it's on a fair wicket. It shouldn't be one of these lottery types where a no-name firang spinner can come to the party having done nothing of note anywhere in the past.
 
Insulting results and I am seething with anger. Kohli and gang better thrash Australia in all the remaining matches. This match should be treated as a fluke.

Can't even play O Keefe when he wasn't even turning the balls.

True but it was difficult for the Indian batsmen to distinguish between the two that don't turn.

We did throw our wickets away in first innings but the performance in 2nd innings proved that we would have crumbled against O Keefe anyway cos we never bothered to cover the line when he bowled.

Over-confidence (probably), lack of planning and practice.
 
Pakistan might be bad but they are not "lose in 3 days by 300 runs" bad LMAO :)))
 
Question: So, India lost on a day 8 pitch in 3 days, while being bowled out in 74 some overs combined. Now on to Bangalore, will they now prepare:

- Day 24 pitch (8 x 3) to somehow reverse the 3 day loss
- Day 64 pitch (8 squared) to bamboozle Aussie somehow
- Have the BJI loonis dug up the pitch and then play that pitch unchanged, hooping Ashwin can bug some cheap wickets rather than giving away close to 200 some runs in a loss of 300+
- Your take on what kind of pitch it could be?

I am not so sure that they would have lost if they batted first. If Ind batted 1st the chances are that they would have scored 275, and the way the pitch played, it would have been a match winning score.

Well there are several factors that point against that.

If this game played out like the India vs Australia Delhi 2013 or the India vs SA Mohali 2015 with first innigs scores being almost level and India losing cos they couldn't overcome the toss disadvantage....I would agree.

Here we lost after Aus made 280 in 3rd innings which like almost 3X of our first/second innings total. If the pitch had deteriorated so bad, how did they get there? Yes, we dropped a bunch of catches off Smith (Renshaw was soon dismissed after his drop catch) but others scored without any fielding blunders from our side.

If we hadn't thrown our wickets away in first innings, the improved lengths of O keefe would have got us out anyway cos we were playing him for the turn and missing all his straight or little spin balls (which is what he bowled like 90% of the time).

We weren't technique equipped or well practiced enough to handle O Keefe on that pitch which is why we would have lost regardless. If we could play O Keefe well enough to get 275 in first innings, then we would have shown glimpses of it in the 4th innings.

Anyways, next game, Indian bats are gonna come prepared for O Keefe's style of bowling. Plus its gonna be relatively easier to play his style of bowling on normal tracks. But if they keep making the same mistakes as they did in this test, don't be surprised if O Keefe takes a lot more wickets when the pitch starts turning.

I agree with most of what you say but i cant believe that as poor as Ind were in their 1st innings they wouldnt have got 275(if they batted 1st) against this Aussie bowling line-up, who are solid but hardly spectacular. In the end it was the overconfidence that killed them and poor fielding.

All reports indicate that team India demanded this pitch and even got the BCCI suits involved to ensure that they get it. Kohli either doesn't know what his coach does behind his back or he was lying at the presser.

Nobody asked for anything. The BCCI is in a post-apocalyptic state right now and effectively doesn't exist.

The pitch was terrible.

And you are making these claims how? There is a very revealing article on cricinfo where they state how multiple BCCI officials were seen visiting the groundsman in the weeks leading up to the match, how there was very little watering of the pitch despite scalding hot temperatures and the fact that spinners average 60-odd on this pitch in the Ranji competition, where it is all about pace and bounce.

The Indians team wanted this pitch; they simply did not account for the fact that they can lose the toss. If they stop asking for these disgraceful pitches, we'll stop seeing these disgraceful pitches.

And as if, Indian fans never heard of BCCI and captain pressuring the groundsman in to making a pitch of their liking? Dhoni even rewarded some groundsman, right, is that not an indirect way to tell all groundsmen: toe our line and get rewarded?

Indian fans, seems to have an unlimited supply of blue shades covering their eyes!
