What's new

It would be criminal if Mickey Arthur doesn't drop Azhar Ali for the final

I'm very glad it did.

maybe Azhar read it and he fired up after reading it? :najam

Very good to see Azhar scoring and nobody would've guessed it.

People did see it coming - like many have said he'll always give you consistency, at a cost of a lower SR.

Not true. I did say after his first couple of ODIs that he looked like he had the capability to hit big when he didn't have test match responsibility on his shoulders. I'm pretty sure Mamoon said something similar for one.

Or just admit that you were wrong? You felt strongly enough to make a thread but he has been very good so far and in the Semi.

Ho hi na jaye. There is a higher probability of Azhar scoring the fastest ODI century than people here admitting their mistakes.

Azhar has come to the party today against India. Looking very positive today on a wicket that looks perfect for batting.

All I'm going to say here is that this thread was started by a fan of Umar "I gain weight when I drink water" Akmal.

Thanks God, Mickey doesn't read too much into every thread created.

Azhar Ali played brilliantly today, a class player. He stepped up his game on the big stage. Well played.

I am a fan of Azhar Ali. He doesn't look particularly elegant, and can appear heavy footed. One day cricket does not come naturally to him. Yet, he is someone who is constantly striving to improve, is unselfish and has a big heart. There have been many more gifted players to have played for Pakistan, but few I suspect that work as hard as him.

If Azhar Ali can score at a run a ball pace in ODI's that would provide massive platform and stability for our batting.

this is an amazing victory, something i never thought possible, but after the euphoria we should look to improve.

Azhar has earnt himself another series but we can do better, there is nothing wrong in saying that

There's not much difference in terms of ability between Azhar and Shehzad, but there's clear daylight between them in terms of batting for the team's cause rather than the self. He might look ugly and disjointed gasping for air when trying to force the outcome, but you always sense he is striving for the team. That difference might seem little, but you can't measure its actual value to the team and corollary impact on morale. He is a true credit to the team.

Was a wrong choice for captain though.

Credit to him for scoring freely, when Zam was struggling and needed the weight to be taken off his shoulders.

He stood up, played the aggressor role and kept the scoreboard ticking over at a very good rate.

Fine knock in a final.

You can't knock quality. Just see what nasser and athers were saying about him...anyone who doubted him need to watch his 92 at the oval in his first series against England

Played a top knock in the final

Azhar is always striving to improve and hopefully he ll continue improving and can become a solid 45+, 80sr batsman for pakistan
