Jacques Kallis Invitational XI lost by 3 runs

ah well never mind. The day has definitely been a success for pakistanis in the side. Hopefully they would perform just as well in the next game if not better.

still not like this match was that important to us...

both pakistani players did good.. sami did good with the ball..
and well butt did great with the bat.. would have been even better
if we went on to win it though...

someone post up who the man of the match was when they say it plz...

Salman (who was embarassing himself earlier! apparently) and Sami do the nation proud!

It was great to see all the players including brian lara, kallis, allan donald, and coach duncan fletcher giving him a staniding ovation when he got a century,

I personnaly think Duncan fletcher must have been scopin salman out and making notes on his strengths and weaknesses for england series.

Uhmmm...just thought I'd give an opinion on Butt's innings on Friday. I watched his whole innings from ball one to the last one....Salman played very well!

When everything else around him was falling apart, he played a very good, calculated innings. For the first time since I've seen him, this was an innings where Salman proved he may be a slow starter (as are most batsmen), but he finally seems to be coming to grips with his own game. He wasn't going hell-for-leather, as some of the commentators demanded, but he played within himself, up to a point where he got his team to the brink of victory. Almost like he believed he could win the match for his team, even if he started slowly....

The pitch played a little dodgy in the second innings, and Salman batted truly superbly. He seemed to be concentrating well and batted within himself. Most of the commentators thought he was batting a little slow, BUT they also admitted that even the "brilliant Kallis and Lara" weren't playing the SA attack as well as Butt. It was only Pat Symcox who climbed into Butt a little. But by the end of his innings, he was the one looking on his fat nose more that just a little! And even he had to admit that Salman played a brilliant innings under the circumstances.

Oh and, while Kallis and Lara were jumping around and even looked a little clueless against Ntini and Pollock, Butt looked the more composed against them....Howzat! ANd that 6! I must admit, it's the first time I saw him hit a six....Coming down the track....EISH!!!

And of course his bowling....I have never seen Butt bowl, so when Kallis brought him on to bowl, I thought "chicken-murder!" But it wasn't to be....Looking ultra cute, bowling with his cap on (other-way around), he looked more than half decent.... Really.

Well, I enjoyed watching him bat and bowl in that first match...and his fielding has improved a GREAT deal. Kallis had him fielding all over the place, and he was throwing his body around like it was an international match of status....

I have only one question for Bob Woolmer.....While everyone and sundry were singing the praises of Butt at Newlands on Friday....WHY ON EARTH IS HE NOT THE REGULAR OPENER FOR PAKISTAN!!!!!! There should be no-way this boy gets dropped again....

Or I'll throw a tantrum on his website that he'll NEVER forget....

Oh yeah, the boy can play.

One more thing.....

When Butt was bowling he wasn't just happy with any old field Kallis wanted to set for him...

He gave his input and at one point looked like he DEMANDED a fielder in a certain position...Kallis didn't agree, but Salman stood his ground :D and got the fielder...

Big Kallis backed down to little Salman :))

I just wonder how Kallis knew about Butt's bowling abilities :13: .....Seems like nobody else does....

Can anyone upload the Salu Butt Innings plz...on yousendit preferably.

Salman But has played in South Africa before he played against the A team. He made a 233 including 33 fours !!!!!!!!!!!!! I think he also bowled in that match.

it might be broadcasted by Super Sport, maybe Kallis saw him on the televison :25:
