Our friends at Edgbaston (Birmingham, UK) have reminded us of the supercharged atmosphere that you can experience as fan when you come in to the Edgbaston:

Up to 8,000 fans are expected to gather at Edgbaston for the game on Sunday 9 June after the ICC confirmed the ground among just a handful of host venues globally.

The India v Pakistan match is expected to be one of the highlights of the tournament which gets underway in the USA and West Indies on 1 June.

And for the first time ever the ICC are giving UK fans an opportunity to watch it live from Edgbaston Stadium where the piazza will be turned into a family festival of cricket.

Fans will be able to watch the action on a big screen and enjoy the build-up as comedian and cricket commentator Aatif Nawaz takes to the stage alongside former India and Pakistan players.

Edgbaston Chief Executive Stuart Cain, said: “We’re the only venue in the country to have been chosen by the ICC as a T20 World Cup Fan Zone location which is amazing.

“It’s an opportunity for our local communities to really feel part of the T20 World Cup experience and I’m sure it will be a fantastic occasion.

“Pakistan and India fans generated an electric atmosphere here in the 2019 Cricket World Cup and I’ve no doubt we can get close to replicating that in the Fan Zone.”

As well as being able to see the match on large screens with live commentary, fans will also be able to access a large family picnic area with activities including cricket skill challenges and cultural performances from both the Indian and Pakistan communities.

ICC Head of Events, Chris Tetley explained the significance of the event. “Fan parks are an important part of bringing World Cups to more people across the globe,” he said, “and we are delighted Edgbaston Stadium will be hosting the screening of one of cricket’s biggest rivalries.

“I am sure there will be a great atmosphere on the day and based on previous India and Pakistan matches that have taken place at Edgbaston it will be an occasion not to be missed.”

Gates are set to open at 1pm on the day before the live feed of the game starts at 3.30pm.

It's a great initiative by the ICC, though such events often risk becoming chaotic and leading to altercations.

The odds are highly against Pakistan this time, just feel for those Pakistan fans who will be in New York amidst the sea of team blue fans.

I am sure that the atmosphere is going to be electric at Edgebaston. People there always show support for Pakistan in those areas. Nothing better than watching the greatest rivalry in cricket with your friends and family.

I will be sitting 18 miles away from the stadium and watching Pak vs India on the TV as I could not get the tickets.... :( but the good thing is that I do have tickets for Pakistan vs Canada match on June 12th! :)

:D :D Good point. I love cricket but not that much! I was not going to spend $2500 to see India trash Pakistan. :p I applied for Ind-Pak match ticket for general stand tickets that were sold via lottary. They were around $125-$150!

If you are in the area - this will be a great day out!

How many are gonna go there and witness the impossible that is about to happen later on? It is India vs Pakistan game day.
I hope the people who are going there will be getting a lot of entertainment from this game. They can witness Pakistan doing the unthinkable.
