A clash between India and Pakistan is always considered the biggest battle on the cricket pitch and a defeat doesn't go down well either with the fans or the former players. And while the Pakistan players have come under heavy criticism post their loss to Virat Kohli and boys at Old Trafford on Sunday, former Pakistan stumper Kamran Akmal has now urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to initiate action against the cricket team for their dismal show against India.

Akmal criticised Sarfaraz Ahmed's captaincy and also requested the Prime Minister to take action against the whole team.

"Pakistan has not won any match in the World Cup, where they opted to chase. The only victory for the greens caps came against the tournament favourites England, when we batted first and posted massive 300 plus runs on the board, while against West Indies, we were badly exposed and flattened at meagre 105. Our batting badly flopped and all the flaws were exposed by the opponents," Akmal told Pakistan's English daily 'The Nation'.

"I request Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is also Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) patron, to start ruthless accountability and all those, who inflicted huge damages on Pakistan cricket, must face the music. We are blessed with so many natural cricketers, who, if selected on merit, can strengthen Pakistan batting and bowling and can take Pakistan team to a much higher level," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, PCB had announced that it will hold a "robust review" of the Pakistan team and its support staff after the World Cup and submit its recommendations to PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and the Board of Governors (BoG).

In the much anticipated contest, India rode opener Rohit Sharma's fantastic 140-run knock to post a massive 336. Opener K.L. Rahul (57) and skipper Virat Kohli (77) also cracked half-centuries. In reply, Pakistan finished on 212 for six in 40 overs, losing by 89 runs (D/L method). The Sarfaraz-led side will next take on South African on June 23 at the Lord's.

I request the PM to open an investigation into why this individual helped us lose the Sydney test match and was subsequently found cavorting with known fixers..

Imran hopefully has more important jobs. Cricket is not the main goal of the PM. Hopefully, he asks someone capable to handle the sports ministry.

Start an enquiry against Kamran Akmal first. We all know about his pathetic keeping against Australia. And according to him only kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal merit a place in pakistan team(I guess).

Kamran Akmal should be the last person demanding investigations from the PM.

Wow every ex cricketer coming for their 2 minutes of fame when team is down in the doldrums. No wonder Pakistan cricket is going down the hill.

I remember when Sachin had tennis elbow and afterwards lost form Sanjay manjrekar wrote a scathing article in times of India asking Sachin to be dropped/retire. However Indian ex cricketers like Siddhu, gavaskar came to sachins rescue and gave him much needed confidence boost.

Rest is history. Pakistani ex cricketers all just want quick money and beat the players further down when they need support and confidence from their seniors. Sums up the state of cricket ..

Yeah....laugh & the world laughs with u....cry and u cry alone...loose and the whole world and its aunt will put the boot in....
once u start loosing, all the conspiracy theorists come crawling out of the woodwork with every theory possible but wont say 'we lost to a better side' .....
never any constructive criticism...however If he says "We are blessed with so many natural cricketers, who, if selected on merit, can strengthen Pakistan batting and bowling and can take Pakistan team to a much higher level," he added.
If i was the PCB/media/some higher up - i would ask him to name those - natural cricketers, lets see if he can stick his neck out and take a tough call instead of sniping from a distance....

Tbh Kami only has had the best interests of PCT in mind for the last 4-5 years.

All these guys are taking advantage of the situation. This was the expected result from the team. Looks like everyone want to gain attention here.

Coming to Imran khan, it was not required so many tweets on indvspak match..
If he really wanted to give suggestions, one personal call. It was purely show off from Imran khan.

Now every tom dick n harry will wake up with such statements... first need investigation on the sydney test how beautifully you kept wickets and embarrassed yourself and pak team. Go back to sleep Kami...:shhh

Has the audacity to talk about investigation Justice Cooke gave him the benefits of doubt :amir

He didn’t ask Sachin to retire while he was going through his injuries. He asked Sachin to ignore the little niggles and aches, and play with minor injuries. He also asked Sachin to not be afraid of failure.

Someone should take action for all the deliberate underperforming this entire family has done and their relationship with Mazhar Majeed. Kami got once in a lifetime opportunity during his last test tour to Australia to drive around in a convertible Aston Martin..thanks to Mazhar.

Anybody unsure about his integrity should just google: Kamran Akmal and Mazhar Majeed and click on images.

Should be labeled the traitor he is but I wonder why no one calls him out for it? Go figure...

Well let's see how many WC matches Kami played against India and how much did he win?
Wt20 07,
WC 11
Wt20 2012
Wt20 2014

Matches won = 0

The opportunists are just trying to hit out at the current players with any opportunity they can get. We've seen this with Shehzad, Umar Akmal and now Kamran Akmal. All 3 who have done nothing in the WC's themselves either.

Of the worse, Shezzy's case is honestly the worst with him trying to mock with the nursery rhyme in gym. That too when he's been playing with Sarfraz in QG since the very first season. And Moin Khan was lobbying for them about how Shehzad and Umar should be treated with respect. Shezzy needs to be shown how good he did in CT17's opening game against India.
These guys need to be hit with some good fines, don't know one bit about how to conduct themselves in public.

The next thing we'll see will be Salman Butt asking IK to look into match fixing in Pakistan's WC matches.

The whole nation is angry with PCT which is understandable, but these guys are just trying to get themselves in the good books or trying to hit their team mates when they are at their lowest. Everyone knows how they would've done if they were selected ahead of the incumbents.

K akmal Should be the last person demanding enquiries His careers been one big disappointment after anothet

Its shameful behaviour instead of supporting his fellow colleagues hes putting his boot in to get himself selected

Disgusting but that k akmal for u

We have sooooo many dramatic characters in our cricketing fraternity! Such outlandish demands/requests it's nuts!

In hindsight, KA should consider himself lucky not to be selected in the playing XI otherwise there would have been others baying for his blood.

Wins or losses against India especially bring out the worst or the best amongst the Pak fans and the looser armchair former players. Focus on improving the domestic structure instead and get the team ready for the future.

At the end of the day, its another match and the bette rteam will win

In hindsight this a sorry state of affairs where the prime minister of the country comments about what a team should do not in general terms but in specifics (the coach and management are for that purpose). And an ex player (and a brain **** at that) raises the issue of the prime minister should intervene. So many larger life and death questions govern the leader of a nation and to think (and ask him in a public forum) to intervene tells you all there is to know and see in this once proud cricketing nation.

When a civilization decays it does so from the inside, and when a fish rots it rots from its head.

Don't need lectures from either of the Akmal's. They are just bitter knowing their careers are over. Hard to believe that Kamran even knows how to tweet let alone anything else.

There should be a parliamentary inquiry after this WC , not to make any scapegoats , but to genuinely find out what went wrong and how does Pakistan cricket and indeed sporting culture move forward in the country as people will be seriously disheartened and lose interest if the same mismanagement and lack of planning continues to go on.

And the PM himself should head the inquiry panel , yes there are other important issues but cricket is also of importance given how it affects national morale and sports across the board in Pakistan needs a new vision and strategy.

Kamran Akmal is literally a snake. He was singing Sarfraz's praises when he was recalled for the WI series. Then once he got dropped, it was the same old how Sarfraz is undeserving of being in the team and the Akmal brothers are being discriminated against.

It appears people lose their media gigs if they don't cater to the lowest common denominator. Experts are supposed to be objective and rational. Every Pak tv expert speaks like a local mohalla man who watches highlights of T20s and judges the players' ability.

What did I just read?

I won’t lie maybe up till 2010-2011 he made some bad decisions but we are all human at the end of the day. He’s repented and apologized to the nation. Ever since it’s been genuine performance after genuine performance.

Maybe I’m a little biased, idk. My cousin and I met him in Lahore during eid at a bakery and he was very humble.

Players being dropped for poor performance is enough of a punishment. This guy needs to calm down.

Everyone wants attention. Even Shoaib Akhtar posted a video denying an affair with an Indian actress while no one really had said anything to that effect.

All of these cricketers have made youtube channels and now are trying everything to gain attention. Just click a 10 minute video and upload it, get a million views even if the video has the worst possible pointless content.

Rameez seems to be doing a better job than others though.

He wrote one article asking him to retire or be dropped. I remember it clearly.

Top post. Fully agree. I was thinking the same!

Amazing how opportunistic people are attacking their team. Guys Pakistan is not out of world cup. They need CT 2017 kind of 10 days. These ex players are doing it for themselves

Knowing the capabilities of our board and the people in charge of our cricket. Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me seeing this guy back in the team after the World Cup and possibly even as a captain

Sarfaraz catch of Faf is exactly the reason why Kamran Akmal should not be in the side!

Yes Kamran is right. Imran Khan should take action.

His first action should be to start an investigation into the Akmal brothers and their shenanigans in almost ruining Pakistan cricket.

Always supports and backs the team. Good on him to honor the competition on Sarfraz.

ISLAMABAD - Test-discard wicketkeeper and opening batsman Kamran Akmal has demanded Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to introduce across the board accountability and show the door to entire team management, coaches and selection committee.

Talking to The Nation, Kamran said: “Pakistan cricket team went beyond expectations in the world cup as they had beaten the heavyweights of world cricket. If we look at the last five years of Pakistan cricket team’s performances, one can easily claim that this world cup was by far the best as far as they finished fifth. But for me and others, who had some knowledge of cricket, it could be the best one, had the team management paid heed towards day-to-day changing situation and maintained the team’s run-rate, which was rock-bottom after the worst ever defeat against the West Indies.

“Pakistan team could have easily played the semifinals. The matter of the fact is that chief selector, coaches and team management considered them above everything, which is the core issue and where PCB needs to pay attention. Unless these high-flying officials are not thrown out, Pakistan cricket will continue to suffer while blaming only skipper or players is no solution to our problems,” he added.

He said merit and performance must hold the key to selection in Pakistan team. “If someone is performing on consistent basis, he should be given his due right, unlike of past, when top performers in domestic cricket had to sit out and ordinary performers were given countless chances. This culture of nepotism must have to be tackled with iron hand. I am confident that PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani and MD Wasim Khan will take very serious notice of injustice done to the players in the recent past.

“Pakistan is blessed with great talent, but the rights of deserving players were denied, which resulted in huge frustration among the top class players, who could be part of any international team, but they were denied to represent the country,” he added.

He said that he baldy fears for Pakistan cricket, as results are not coming, which the team is capable to produce. “The way we were humiliated by West Indies and then we beat Kiwis and almost lost against the minnows Afghanistan, it was sheer brilliance of Imad, Wahab, which saved the day for Pakistan cricket. Otherwise, it would have been the darkest day in the history of Pakistan cricket, had we lost against the Afghans.”

Kamran said that the PCB has to wake up from deep slump and has to take things very seriously. “Being the proud world champions and Champions Trophy winners, Pakistan team should have performed much better. Such pathetic and ordinary results in mega events won’t satisfy the masses. Now the chief selector has decided not to renew his contract and others must follow the same, rather than waiting for coaching staff to resign. PCB must take action and send them home.”

When asked about captaincy of Sarfraz Ahmed and his performances in the recent past, the wicketkeeper batsman said: “I guess everybody including the PCB has witnessed Sarfraz’ track record. I can’t comment whether he should stay as captain or not, as it is purely the PCB’s provocative, but I think time is ripe when the PCB should come up with something different and something solid if they want to save Pakistan cricket. If situation remains the same and PCB keep on hoping for miracles, then the future of Pakistan cricket seems very bleak.

“I hope Prime Minister Imran Khan will bring positive changes in the team management and national team and also provide justice to long suffering players and fans. I am sure he will act without any further delay,” Kamran concluded.

Lol Kami..." I can’t comment whether he should stay as captain or not but I think time is ripe when the PCB should come up with something different".Who are you fooling?

Like politicians are some of these Pakistani players - when out of the team they are in “opposition” mode and there to tell you all the problems that exist and solutions which are usually only possible if they themselves are back in government / team.

he has no real gravitas or authority to speak about pakistan cricket and the current team. A pathetic player and one who should not be allowed to make stupid statements.

he along with his brother is the worst thing to have happened to pak cricket in last 10 years... i cannot believe that they are still listened to and are given big contracts in domestic and PSL. i really hope some1 steps up and bans these useless gutters for good ...

Make Latif as head coach, Tanvir/Razzak as chief selector and Miandad as PCB director.

Kamran c
Umar-V captain
Young Faisal Iqbal can replace Babar
and Anwar Ali will replace Afridi.
They can recall Azhar, Shafiq, Khurram, Gul etc.
Perfect TTF squad.

Amir has set a bad example for Pakistan cricketers: Kamran Akmal

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal believes that pacer Mohammad Amir has set a bad example by taking retirement from Test cricket, at a young age.

While talking to Cricket Pakistan in an exclusive interview, Akmal was surprised at Amir’s decision to bring the curtain down on his Test career.

“I was surprised to see Amir announce his retirement from Test cricket because I think he should have atleast played for another five to six years,” said Akmal. “Amir taking retirement at the age of 27 is bad news for Pakistan cricket and this will set a bad example for young local cricketers.”

He added: “Selecting players on performance based in PSL and increase in T20 leagues around the world is encouraging cricketers to focus on T20 cricket rather than putting in the hard yards in domestic four-day cricket. I’m sure more players will soon announce retirement from Test cricket as well.”

The 37-year-old also questioned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s selection criteria.

“It is disappointing to be out of the national side despite my performance in domestic cricket — which is the main criteria of selection,” he said. “Players who have not even played domestic cricket for two to three years are getting regular chances to play for Pakistan.”

He further stated: “Unnecessary experimentation is hurting Pakistan cricket, which is evident from our position in the Test and ODI arena. I hope the new selection committee and PCB ensures that, in the future, the deserving players get the chance to play for Pakistan.”

Despite being out of the Pakistan side since 2017, Akmal vowed to continue playing till he was in from and fully fit.

“I will continue to play until and unless my form deserts me and I’m no longer fit enough to play,” he said. “The example of Younis Khan and Misbahul Haq is infront of us as they contributed for Pakistan despite being in their late 30s and early 40s.”

The right-handed batsman also spoke about the need to properly plan for next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.

“Bearing in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup, we need to properly plan, beforehand, for the event, unlike the 2015 and 2019 World Cups, because this is the difference between us and the successful teams in the world,” he said.

Akmal also stated that PCB should give captain and coaching staff atleast two years before assessing their performance.

“I think PCB should atleast give two years to the captain and the coaching staff inorder to properly gauge their performance,” he said. “Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed and the current coaching staff have been there for around three years, which is enough time to put the team on the right track.”

I can't believe Kamran Akmal has the audacity to talk about bad examples when he used to drop catches for fun and fix matches. He is a disgrace and should keep out of cricket instead of trying to stay relevant.

If anyone has set a bad example, it’s his younger brother Umar Akmal who dared to fake an injury just because his worthless, imbecile older brother wasn’t pick in the playing 11. And this was after he played just a handful of matches. Can you imagine the audacity!
