[REPORT] ICC referee Andy Pycroft apologises to Pakistan team over handshake row [Update@ Post 310]

ICC hung out the umpire as they couldn't beat Pakistan to miss the match.

Cricket is a joke. Indians ruined it and now our board are doing these dramay too, and the ICC stands up for nothing. Feel sorry for Andy, he was misled by Indians.

Cricket was wonderful from 1772 till 2007.

After 2007, Indians ruined it with overcommercialization and petty politics. :inti

Good on PCB to show spine against the disgusting noveau rich. Got an apology and also got their man thrown out of the stadium. Alongwith a conduct violation investigation as well. Far cry from PCB of Raja, Zaka and Najam Sethi which always had a egg on their face.

I think that serves enough deterrence for any clown trying to go beyond their domain.

Pycroff wont be allowed to Pakistan ever as well. Good riddance. Bloody clown, indian agent.
This man is living in lala land . Match refresh is same in today match. Pakistan surrender yet again :klopp :kp

The $16 mn reason why Pakistan is playing with UAE despite ICC snub

After days of uncertainty and heated discussions, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to go ahead and play its final Asia Cup group-stage match against the UAE in Dubai on Wednesday. The decision comes despite the International Cricket Council (ICC) rejecting PCB’s demand to remove match referee Andy Pycroft from Pakistan’s games — a move that had almost led to a boycott threat.

The driving factor behind PCB’s U-turn appears to be financial. Reports suggest that a pullout would have cost Pakistan an estimated USD 16 million in revenue — a significant loss for a board that operates on a fraction of the budget of its Indian counterpart, the BCCI.

Naqvi consulted with Ramiz and Sethi too. I give him big credit for that. Pakistan establishment and PCB are for once aligned.

Of course you feel that. In your delusional world. Just like you claimed the match referee was thrown out.

When reality is hurtful and your enemy is ahead in every field, one does need to come up with fantasies and alternate realities to make feel life better.

. This is the same person who made big claims before the Champions Trophy. He said, "India must come to Pakistan to play; there is no other option." If they don't come, the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan without India, there will be no hybrid model.

:klopp :kp

It was a middle solution. Happy to see that. Because if referee was terminated then it was a clear loss of BCCI and win for PCB. And if he remained without any apology then otherwise

Now both parties can say we won

I will say this with all my heart and there is no trolling/point scoring involved.

If my side lost to Pakistan and Pakistan didn't offer Bharat a handshake, last thing I would want is a 69 year old neutral refree paying the price for the political tug of war between the two nations.

It's embarrassing that Pycroft was made to apologize just so that Naqvi could sell this as a victory to Pakistani awaam. It's just sad.

This is the perfect model on the pakistan society on a whole which is full of deceit, lies, manipulation of its own awaam and delusion of highest order.

Pakistan ( PCB in this instance) always seek something that can be used for validation of its domestic awam irrespective of humilation. They just need something to sell to their awam of the so called 'victory'.

All the paid out journalsists were first celeberating the removal of pycroft followed by boycott ( including some chomus here). They just want to declare "victory" at any cost. Then when it was clear pycroft was here to stay, they all need a new narrative. So here come the apology saga and Naqvi press confrence where they shamelessly declared " jeet of pakistan".

Then they leaked a audioless video with pycroft and bombarded the social media with the new narrative - apology by pycroft and how they brought a match refree to its knee. , uf so much propoganda just to seek validation of thier awam who is already under the boot of a general.

This is how they 'try' to manufcyure 'win' for the last 75 year. The recepitent - the poor awaam who take their chooran and chest thump. Pity.

Pycroft hasn't apologize for handshake , he said it was miscommunication. PCB used this fake propaganda for face saving.

ICC gave clean chit to match referee.

:klopp :kp

Not a fan of scapegoating Pycroft. The instigator was BCCI who issued the directive to the players.

Both boards are taking turns to embarrass themselves and the tournament has been completely overshadowed. Asia Cup should've been scrapped this year.

Pakistan Senior journalist has exposed PCb

He said PCB knew before the toss that India is not going to "handshake"! yet Pakistan did drama to fool the fans & targeted Pycroft unnecessary

@Rajdeep @Hikaru @Vikram1989 @deep82

:kp

Who is this senior journalist? Don't know the merit of such claim but if true, its further humilating.

Pakistan did very well know that no handshakes be made at toss but believe they were unaware about the after match handshake boycott. Even if this is not true then what can be said further.

Yeah Pakistan post match should have just walked away.

That visual of Pakistani players hanging around while the dressing room door was closed on them hurt their ego.

And Pakistan runs on ego.

Shoaib Malik lambastes ICC's double standards on a local TV show:

"Surya gave a political statement during the post-match ceremony. If the match referee is not holding him accountable, then this is wrong. ICC had taken action against Usman Khawaja & Moeen Ali before, so why are they not doing it now?"

Everyone knows why lol.

The best way to respond to these Indian idiots is by playing good cricket. You cannot beat your chest on these issues until the team is well capable of competing with the top teams and play entertaining cricket for fans world over.

Become a marketable team, then you can look the likes of India in the eye and trash them all over wherever you get the opportunity.

If India can bring up politics on the field and get away with it, your captain should do the same. But only if you are a top dog on the field, not this spineless coward that is currently incapable of any fight whatsoever.

This also depends on the economy.

You mean they tried to the decent thing and got shown the door by the Indians

As per Indian media following transpired yesterday:

After much drama on Wednesday, Pakistan withdrew its pullout threat and showed up for a crucial Asia Cup game against the UAE on Wednesday, but not before causing a delay and claiming that it had received an "apology" from match referee Andy Pycroft, who was retained by the ICC despite the country's repeated demand for his removal. That Pycroft would remain match referee was communicated to PCB chairman and Asian Cricket Council head Mohsin Naqvi by ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta in a conference call. The ICC maintained that the Zimbabwean would remain in charge as he had followed all the rules and regulations

Pakistan In Trouble For 'Misconduct', ICC Set To Take Action Over Pullout Drama In Asia Cup: Report

The ICC is mulling action against Pakistan for "violation of multiple tournament rules" prior to their Asia Cup match against the UAE that was delayed by the team to protest the world body's rejection of its demand to remove match referee Andy Pycroft. The ICC has shot off an e-mail to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) citing "misconduct" and "multiple violations" of the Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA) protocol before the game held on Wednesday. "The ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta has written to the PCB stating that the board has been guilty of repeated PMOA violations on match day. PCB is in receipt of the e-mail," a tournament source told PTI.

It is learnt that despite several warnings, Pakistan breached the rules by allowing media manager Naeem Gillani to film a meeting between Pycroft, its head coach Mike Hesson and captain Salman Ali Agha before the toss.

The ICC had made it clear that media managers were barred from such meetings.

The team had initially refused to leave its hotel after holding Pycroft responsible for the 'no handshake' fiasco in the game against India, causing Wednesday's match to be delayed by an hour.

The PCB alleged that Pycroft, at the time of toss on Sunday, prohibited Salman from shaking hands with his Indian counterpart Suryakumar Yadav, who made it clear that the pleasantries were avoided as a gesture of solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.

ICC agreed with PCB that in order to help resolve the matter related to the India game, Pycroft would meet the team captain and manager before the toss of yesterday's match.

"The purpose was to eradicate any regrettable misunderstanding or miscommunication which may have arisen at the time of the toss (of the India match)," the tournament source said.

"PCB brought to the meeting their media manager and insisted that he be present during the conversation," he added.

Naeem was refused entry by the ICC Anti-Corruption Manager because "he wanted to take his mobile phone into the PMOA".

The source that at that point, the PCB threatened to "withdraw" from the match if the media manager was not allowed to attend and then insisted on filming (without audio) the conversation, which was a "further violation of the PMOA regulations." "The ICC, in order to preserve the interest of the sport, the tournament and the stakeholders involved accepted PCB's asks although this demonstrated a complete disregard for the sanctity of the PMOA, where the meeting took place," the source said.

The ICC was also not made aware of how PCB planned to use the filmed footage. The short clip has been circulating on social media with various speculations on what might have been discussed during the meet.

The world body has also taken exception to a PCB media release that claimed Pycroft had "apologised", when in fact he had merely expressed regret over a miscommunication.

PCB media manager Naeem was denied entry into a subsequent meeting inside the PMOA, where filming is strictly prohibited.

That would be fantastic because yesterday they make mockery of cricket. They think they are playing in Ramzan tournament in Pakistan so they can Start the match at any time.
