Kapil was slammed on Twitter by many who felt that the stand-up comedian was being "desperate".

Indian comedian and actor Kapil Sharma, who was in Dubai to promote Pakistan Super League franchise Peshawar Zalmi ahead of the league's third season, has invited the ire of Indian fans on social media who didn't like Kapil's gesture.

Kapil was slammed on Twitter by many who felt that the stand-up comedian was being "desperate".

"The King of Comedy @KapilSharmaK9 pictured with Peshawar Zalmi's skipper @darensammy88 and chairman Jafridi10 during #ZalmiNightWithKapil in Dubai earlier tonight. #YellowStorm #HumZalmi #HBLPSL," Peshawar Zalmi said in a tweet.

"Lovely to have kids from @SKMCH interacting and spending quality time with their favourite Peshawar Zalmi stars they are growing up watching on television. It is always a moment of great pleasure to be the reason of these brave kids wearing smiles on their faces. #HumZalmi," franchise chairman Javed Afridi tweeted.

Reacting to the comedian's gesture, a Twitter user called him "desperate" and mentioned how he behaved with his colleagues in drunken state in recent past.

Another user went on to call him Gaddar (traitor) for promoting Pakistan's T20 league.

During his show in Dubai, Kapil made everybody laugh in the light-hearted session as he shared some jokes with renowned names like West Indian bowling all-rounder Darren Sammy, Hasan Ali, all-rounder Haris Sohail, England seamer Chris Jordan and Mohammad Asghar, Kamran Akmal and Mohammad Hafeez.

When Kapil asked Zalmi skipper Sammy, "Why do people call you Khan?", he replied, "It's because of Afridi. And also, maybe, because I'm from Peshawar."

Teasing Pakistan wicket-keeper-batsman Kamran Akmal, the comedian said, "You are three brothers; [with] one cousin playing top-level cricket - and you all have kids - it means Pakistan doesn't need any other family in cricket."

Defending champions Peshawar Zalmi's owner Javed Afridi said that he wanted to make his team feel relaxed ahead of the action-packed cricket league.

"Kapil Sharma is the best comedian in our region these days and the players had a great time," the Geo TV quoted Afridi as saying.

The third edition of the PSL will kick-off with Zalmi taking on the newcomers Multan Sultans in the opening game of the tournament at Dubai Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

The league will span across Dubai and Sharjah before shifting to Pakistan for the final leg.

Celebrities are always soft targets for Twitter trolls nothing new just ignore them.
I am fadeup with this hyper nationalism.

Pakistan has way better comedians than kapil sharma. May be kapil does comedy in hindi so he does not sound much funnier with same old jokes and concept.
Between what i heard from my friends that indian and pakistani punjabis get along very well with each other abroad though in the battle field its different story altogether..

We should never let indian and pakistani punjabis to get friendly with each other. Remind me to activate one of my pakistani punjabi profiles so that I can try to create wedge between this qaum divided by religion.

Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma, once upon a time a pet name of every Indian household, has been spotted performing for Pakistan Super League's Peshawar Zalmi, ahead of their inaugural match against Multan Sultans, in Dubai. Famous for generating comedy out of nowhere, Kapil Sharma is no stranger to controversies. His recent act of performing for the PSL franchise might brew another fresh controversy. In the past, his show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' witnessed many cricketers where he poked fun at them and also at the neighbouring nation.

Slamming the comedian for his decision to perform for PSL's franchise, India.com quoting Shiv Sena said, Kapil is playing with India’s honour for earning money. “Kapil Sharma is making a mockery of India’s honour. He just wants to earn money and doesn’t care about the country. We strongly condemn Sharma for performing during PSL,” Sena said.

Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) also hit out at Kapil Sharma. “He (Kapil) should be ashamed of himself. Pakistani cricketers are banned in IPL but he went there to perform. I used to be his ban but after this episode won’t watch any of his show and also urge people to do the same,” MNS spokesperson Amay Khopkar quoted India.com.

Sharma’s action comes at a time when Union Minister Babul Supriyo has called for a temporary ban on Pakistani artists for working in the Hindi film industry. Singer-turned-union minister Babul Supriyo said that Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's voice in a song that features in Bollywood film Welcome To New York must be removed and dubbed by someone else. Supriyo said that he is not able to comprehend the need or desire to cross the border for entertainment content at a time when tensions on the India-Pakistan border have escalated.

"Our soldiers are being brutally killed and their bodies are mutilated… If we can stop Pakistani players playing in IPL…. At a time when we have cornered Pakistan, even US is one step away from declaring Pakistan a terrorist nation… maybe it would have been nice if Bollywood showed solidarity and took a stand,” Supriyo has said.

India had banned participation of Pakistani cricketers in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) in the wake of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. India had also suspended bilateral cricketing ties with the neighbouring country since the dastardly attack planned and executed by Pakistan-based terrorist groups.
