Karachi Kings 2017 Squad | Discussion Thread

KK will win PSL 2. I backed them last time :), & LQ this time :(:(

Finally, they have fixed their starting XI & order. The team that played against IU is by far the best squad in PSL. For every team 1, 2, may be at most 3 players have to do it or they are gone - any of KK's top 6 can win a T20 almost alone. Their bottom 5 are Imad, Sohail, Amir, Mir & Shinwari - probably still the best lower half batting unit. Bowling has the most diversity with 8 bowling options & every type of bowlers. And, KK is one of the best fielding unit - I don't see them losing any further match chasing; while batting first, now I think, they'll take the match out of reach.

It's IU, then most likely QG - 2 weakest sides, therefore, they'll have an easy ride to finals. IU wasn't the weakest, but lose of 2 PAK International starter & then the Poms, Russel is too big to cover - had Shadab, Talat & Ruman not performed such, IU would have struggled to make the cut.

If Chris Gayle continues to deliver, chances are great.

KK's team is better then Islu this time, but still, lineup needs to be adjusted...

BABAR, GAYLE opens and then bring Malik but then what is Sanga gonna do?

or

Drop Malik and bring Jaywerdene, he can accelerate then innings extremely well! but oh, he's a foreigner

we have a lot of problems but Inshallah they won't be there anymore!

If Karachi are serious about winning this thing and have a decent keeper in the squad then now would be the time to replace Sanga with Mahela and start fresh me thinks. Mahlea is a great captain plus looks to be in very good touch. With Babar firing and Gayle/Pollard getting back into their groove that batting line-up would be something else.

Mahela
Gayle
Babar
Bopara
Malik
Pollard
Imad
Sohail

Bowling and fielding tho is a bit sus for mine. Not a lot of reliability there.

Supporting Karachi has been a very difficult task. Sanga is an awful captain (as I type this he takes a screamer) and the batting lineup is uninspiring barring the very occasional moment of brilliance.

That's Karachi personified. On the surface it may seem dull, moth-eaten and uninspiring, but inside it has got the heart of a champion :akhtar

There is only one true champion in the Karachi squad and he hasn't played a single game :rahat

So basically,

IU was at no.3 in PSL 1 and won

Same goes for KK...lol, stop being superstitious!

Alhamdulillah. Karachi is the best city in Pakistan, confirmed. I'm honored to be the son of Karachites.

:salute

When your team´s defending a total as low as 127, a brilliant catch or a run out can really lift the whole team´s spirit within minutes, and Sangakkara´s blinding catch did exactly that; just wow! It gave Karachi a sniff and then the bowling in the middle-overs sealed the game. Misbah´s wicket was the turning point in my view, as a score like that was really his territory.

They need to send Pollard post the 10th over, as simple as that! He´s not your Maxwell or de Villiers like hitter who can hit from ball one. Like MS, he´s a bit iffy early in the innings and takes time to first get his eye in; but who on earth can hit farther than him once he´s set?

They´re wasting him below Bopara, and Bopara... well, there´s a limit to keep playing someone based on performance in the tournament a year ago.

Karachi are the dark horse in my opinion. Excellent comeback by them in the tournament.

How did you get into this position in the first place? That last over from Nawaz will haunt the Zalmis for eternity

We have the confidence that we are the best among the three remaining teams.

It will be a great game. thankfully IU is out of the league. Makes for a much better final.

a lot of players in the KK are miss and hit while Zalmi have players in good form. Kami is due a good knock as well.

Supporting karachi in Karachi vs Zalmi.

Was supporting Karachi last year but decided to stay neutral this year because of their pathetic performance in the previous season.

That's what spoiled fans do. Sticking through thick and thin makes winning feel good.

Confidence was oozing in that last over against Nawaz. Fact is without Afridi, you wouldn't have even gotten close

That's a flawed argument. Afridi is one of our most important players, and he made an impact. On the same note, Quetta themselves have been carried by a few select players. The likes of Shafiq, Anwar Ali and Nasim weren't going to take them to the final.

It was a quality run chase and Hafeez and Malan played excellently too, but Kamran was the biggest culprit followed by Sammy who made the blunder of sending the rusty Haris ahead of himself as well as Wahab batting above Hasan.

Bopara na hi jata tou behtar tha :ashwin

But jokes aside its good that he has said that he is going.

KK have performed mostly based on their domestic players, which is only positive. Only Pollard should be contracted next year, while they should look for a younger left handed opener to partner Babar.

in the last Zalmi game I predicted Hafeez is due a good knock and he did played a marvelous knock and now Kami..about time people respect my predictions;-):afridi

Been a decent season, especially the latter half.

We'll be back next season.

Finished above the Qalandars, so good enough. :kk

KKs squad was one that looked great on paper but in practice was mediocre. Bopara was poor Malik was mediocre and the big names like Sanga and Gayle look over the hill. Only Pollard really from their overseas names delivered. Sanga looks finished tbh MCL is is his level now.

Given the way the campaign was going for for them in the initial stages, Karachi can still be proud of their overall effort.

I thought the Gayle-Pollard stand looked very threatening, and Gayle could´ve seen off Wahab´s over untroubled (he should´ve especially been keen on getting his bat down in time for the yorkers). The way they both were going they could´ve easily made for it in the following overs.

That still though wasn´t the turning point. Although I´m not quite criticising Imad as it was a pressure situation and Peshawar got their yorkers spot on a couple of overs there, but it was the lack of boundaries from his end the last 8-9 balls that sealed the game - Imad was on 14 off seven at one stage. It kept piling the pressure on Pollard as the required run-rate kept creeping up. Once Pollard sets his eye on the required rate, he rarely walks away without winning the match, especially in these league tournaments, but things got too far out of reach which made him give in to the pressure.

When Peshawar made just 21 off their last three overs I really thought they might be in trouble, because the pitch was pretty good, although perhaps a bit slow. If only Pollard had been sent ahead of Malik and Bopara. This is a trick that Karachi kept missing. Flexibility with regards to the batting order in T20 cricket is a must.

Anyway, thank you Karachi. That 10 off two balls match was one of the best games of the tournament, their highlight of this edition.

Its time for Karachi Kings to win the PSL as well, Mickey please make sure Afridi doesn't get into Team and make Amir a captain.
