A good choice but as a player has Imad actually reached the next level as a player? I feel his batting hasn't reached its peak yet and all his power hitting abilities seem "forced". He's still the number 1 T20 bowler so that's all good.

He is an above average captain as well. Borderline good.
 
One more reason not to support KK.
 
should have been babar azam or Mohammad amir..imad will find it tough to make it into the team and they are making him captain.
 
Good move I think. Good for the development of Imad Wasim as a player also
 
It’s not necessarily a bad choice. I would consider it as a lesser evil. Don’t want to see Afridi, or a convicted criminal, as captain of KK, therefore, a sensible choice.
 
Should have given it to Babar or Amir, Imad is a average player at best
 
Micky loves Imad so atleast the captain will have the coach's support. Challenge will be keep lala in check and handling him carefully during crucial moments in the game when he tries to take over the captaincy.
 
Not the worst appointment but would have preferred for Amir or Babar to get the role. Don't think Imad is a long term opition for Pakistan.
 
Wont be surprised if Imad is tipped as our next national t20 captain which will be a bad move. There are better potential captaincy candidates who should be groomed for captaincy.

This is one reason why I am not in favor of coach and chief selector to be part of PSL teams. Spending more time with their PSL teams will clearly make them more inclined towards some players and those players getting undue advantage in turn.
 
Having followed Imad's captaincy in Islamabad for years now and before that in u-19 world cup I would say he is certainly not a bad captain but there are few things which I don't think will work for him and Pakistani team as captain. KK ki captaincy beshak aglay 10 saal karay but don't make him Pakistan captain on basis of that 'experience'. Groom someone else for Pak. Someone like Sarfraz.

Good decision, has a lot of experience as captain for his first class team's.

Amir is already overworked since his comeback, gets injured too much and misses quite a few matches so he wouldn't have been a good choice as for Babar Azam- he is untested.
 
humble pie for those whose said afridi left Peshawar Zalmi for captaincy .

Imad seems like a captaincy hungry player and giving him this role might hurt Pakistan's dressing room

Arthur might start backing him too since they are from the same franchise
 
Good decision.KK need a captain who can lead for the next 3 seasons.He’s done well as a captain in domestics.
 
I think, Imad led one of the best U19 teams ever, though it didn't win the U19 WC, but 8 (or 9) players from that squad has made PAK team - Imad, Amir, Umar, Amin, Shehzad, JK, Sallauddin, Shan for sure, may be few more. Leadership quality was always there and he actually backed that with his T20 performance.

I think, it's a good choice to appoint him T20 captain - if he can maintain his fitness, a long term T20 leadership prospect. However, he shouldn't be picked for the 2 longer formats, because he doesn't offer much with ball unless batsmen are charging and his batting is in decline. For T20, his 3 overs in PP itself is probably good enough to keep him in PAK team, so it's a great choice if we consider that KK had Afridi. I am sure, he'll do better than their previous Captain (s).

Lol chill. He was recently quoted saying “Sarfaraz is good enough a captain and there’s no need for me or anyone else to think of captaincy,"

I think it's a good decision to have PAK player captain instead of foreign oldie like Sanga.

Ideally in PSL you have 4 local captains and 2 international.
 
He captained a side in the Pakistan Cup this year and I heard many people were impressed with his captaincy. Pretty sure his team won the tournament in fact!
 
Let's see how he uses himself as a player. His role in the team has been weird to say the least. Been used like badree in the t20i team by sarfraz, opens the bowling and finishes his quota in the first 10. It effectively uses him as a container and cutting out all his options of taking wickets, unless they have a huge total to chase.
 
PSL captaincy should be breeding ground for future Pakistan captains... don't see Imad as a long term member of the Pakistan team.

He was u19 captain as well, people letting their hate muddle their judgement. Imad can't be a worse captain than Sanga who was pretty useless.

Sindhi and Punjabi aren't castes. They are different ethnicities. I think Imad is Punjabi but don't know for sure.
 
Good decision.

Amir is never far from being unfit/injured so appointing him would've been risky. His motivation is also questionable.

Babar has too weak of a personality to captain a team with seniors and global stars.
 
Not a bad choice. But surprised that Afridi isn't captain. I thought that's why he left Peshwar. If it isn't, wonder what the real reason was.

For the first time though Karachi Kings doesn't look that strong, and they won't be amongst the favourites this time.
 
This is terrible decision, what's up with Pakistanis and picking third rate talent as Captain. Babar and Amir are one of the most talented player of Pakistan, how in the world you pick Immad over them to lead franchise?? - Most teams pick best players as national team Captain, we are not willing to do that in local setting :facepalm:
 
On the eve to the announcement, I was hoping that they don’t announce Afridi as captain. My preferred choice was Amir, then Babar and finally Imad.
Though I am pleased they’ve given it to someone still up for selection, it wasn’t my first choice. Personally I believe Imad is an average to good T20 bowler. However, he is not a good ODI bowler. Batting wise he’s highly overrated.
However, I’m hoping with the role of Captaincy he matures as a cricketer on and off the field and who knows his performances may improve with the added responsibility
 
Just seen on Facebook, according to Rashid Latif the plan was to make Afridi the captain. But Afridi didn't want to be captain. He recommended Imad for the role
 
People saying that he shouldn't be captain since he cant make the team on merit need to relax and realise that, atleast in T20s, he is a very economical bowler who can be handy with the bat. You dont simply get to number one in the T20 rankings if you arent "good enough".
 
He was the only choice apart from Afridi.Babar doesn’t seem like captaincy material and Amir unfortunately has a tainted past.Amir should be VC.
 
I don't mind this. If he does well, he can takeover from the Specialist Captain in T20Is, who is a liability in the shortest format.

Unless he starts putting a shift in with bat and ball I think Imad's career is close to an end. He did some good work for us in the post Ajmal world, much like Irfan and Aizaz Cheema did post Asif/Amir, but now we have better options

In this case Imad is the best choice. But he needs to improve his batting.

I agree Making Babar the captain wouldnt be a bad thought given that he is such a great prospect ,this would develop in him the attributes of a good captain as i see him leadingbthe Pakistan sides in a couple of years after Sarfraz's retirement

Really bad.

Imad is not intl quality cricketer, people are in for a disappointment who think he's good.
 
He's had a very poor game today.

His bowling changes were strange at times and not bowling Umer Khan when the pacers were getting smashed around was a ridiculous decision.

True, commentators were even saying that HARIS who didn’t play a single game might well be seeking ano5her team in the mid season transfer window.
 
His batting has been really disappointing this match.

He’s meant to be one of Pakistan’s big hitters for the World Cup so him being unable to hit boundaries in crucial moments isn’t good to see.

Poor player and captain. Shouldn't lead us again if we fail to win PSL title this year. The squad looks perfect except its captain.
 
I don’t think he merits a place in the team let alone be the captain.. there are better choices

He's taken the responsibility, batting extremely well for his team. What else do you expect? How do you judge his captaincy when his side hasn't fielded yet?

Karachi's looking really strong this year and it's great for the tournament.
 
From this PSL so far, I’ve picked some players PCB need to look at for the T20 WC squad already.

1. Babar Azam
2. Azam Khan
3. Imad Wasim
4. Mohammad Hasnain
5. Sharjeel Khan

I would be SL livid if 2-5 are not picked over players like Rizwan, Shadab, Wahab, possibly Iftikhar
 
Imad taking responsibility as a captain defo will be in the world cup squad
 
i like how this will help Babar focus on what he does best.. batting and not be bothered too much about team selection etc for this short period.. while he can still learn and observe good and bad decisions from Imad..
