Bye bye LQ

Isliyay kehtay hain baray bol nahi boltay. lQ fans deserve this humiliation for their arrogance.

In the end it was the Lahori who trolled Lahore better than any Karaachite ever could :ua

The captain hits the winning runs! Punches this length ball through the covers. Karachi Kings are PSL 2020 champions

:14:

Massive congratulations to all Karachi fans guys. Proper champions on the day.

Amazing timing by Babar on this track

We lost because of useless majestic timer Tamim.

Was nothing to do with Tamim, the Lahore think tank just didn't read the conditions right. The pitch needed proper batting not big swings, and it needed accuracy and brains with the ball rather than speed gun buster bowling.

Congrats to KK fans. Well deserved victory.

LQ needs to bring in a better captain as well as some emerging batsmen (There are quite a few available for next draft who can be good for them provided they do it right)

Even more so when they have clowns like aqib and their owners can't stand them.

Glad Karachi won, but huge congrats to Lahore as well. Great season for them, lot of bright spots for next season! Very well played

Heartwarming. Poor lad Rizwan looks the happiest out of the lot. Sportsman spirit. Stay strong lad we will find you a team and a role InshaAllah

Babar really was the difference today. I hope this is the glimpse of what future holds for him in the coming years !!

I would say it was a poor wicket pitch for the final. Should have been a flat and hard pitch for high scoring game. Well Done Karachi, Hopefully more Karachi born player will play for KK.

LQ was v poor in the power play, lets of cross batted shots instead of looking to play proper shots.

Sending David wiese too late should have came when hafeez got out.

True hopefully we see more Karachi players playing for KK. and more Lahore players playing for LQ. I believe no one in the starting Lahore XI was actually born in Lahore.

Ideally, both teams could have done some damage had a proper wrist-spinner been included. There was turn on offer and could have potentially made the difference. Baffles me as to why there aren't more teams in the PSL, clearly, there is enough talent to support such an expansion.

Babar Azam smashed an unbeaten 49-ball 63 to steer Karachi Kings to their maiden HBL Pakistan Super League title with a five-wicket win over Lahore Qalandars at the National Stadium on Tuesday.

The all-format Pakistan captain recorded his fifth half-century of the 2020 edition, which was studded with seven fours, as Kings chased down the 135-run target with eight balls spare. This was his 46th half-century in the format.

Kings were provided a steady beginning as Babar added 23 and 26 runs for the first and second wicket with Sharjeel Khan (13 off 12) and Alex Hales (run-a-ball 11) after which he stitched a 61-run alliance for the third wicket with Chadwick Walton (22 off 27) that settled the game in his side’s favour.

With 11 runs left in the last three overs, Haris Rauf took two back to back wickets as he dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed (four off six) and Shane Rutherford (0) to give Qalandars’ fan a glimpse of hope, but Kings’ captain Imad Wasim took his side home with 10 not out of seven balls.

Babar finished as the highest run-getter of the tournament with 473 runs at an impressive average of 59.12 and a strike rate of 124.14 and, as such, he bagged the coveted HBL PSL 2020 Player of the Tournament award and Best Batsman of the Tournament award.

Qalandars’ pacer Dilbar Hussain was the other bowler to take two wickets as he returned 4-0-28-2.

Earlier, Qalandars had managed only 134 runs at the loss of seven wickets after their captain Sohail Akhtar elected to bat.

The opening pair of Tamim Iqbal and Fakhar Zaman provided a cautious start with a 68-run alliance in 10.1 overs.

The two, however, failed to build on it as they were dismissed in a span of four balls by Umaid Asif in the 11th over. Iftikhar Ahmed caught both batsmen.

Tamim, who scored 35 off 38 balls, which included four fours and a six, was the first wicket to fall, while
Fakhar followed him back after adding 27 runs to the total from 24 balls, four of which were hit for boundary.

Problems compounded when Mohammad Hafeez (two off four) got out trying to slog Imad Wasim as Qalandars lost three wickets for two runs in seven balls.

From there on, Qalandars lost wickets on regular intervals as Samit Patel (five off eight), Ben Dunk (11 off 14) and Sohail (run-a-ball 14) fell in the 14th, 16th and 19th overs.

That Qalandars’ bowlers had something to bowl at was because of Shaheen who helped his side gather 15 runs off the last over. Shaheen smashed Mohammad Amir for a six – which was the second and the last of the innings – and a four on the second and penultimate ball of the innings, respectively.

Six of the seven Qalandars’ wickets were shared between three pacers - Umaid (two for 18), Waqas Maqsood (two for 18) and Arshad Iqbal (two for 26) – while Imad returned one for six.

Qalandars’ Shaheen won the Best bowler of the HBL PSL 2020 award with 17 scalps – the most in the edition – at a strike rate and economy rate of 16.4 and 7.11 and Ben Dunk won the Best wicketkeeper of the HBL PSL 2020 award for accounting for nine batsmen behind the stumps.

Peshawar Zalmi’s Haider Ali was declared as the Emerging Player of the HBL PSL 2020 as he scored an impressive 239 runs at a strike rate of over 157.

Scores in brief:

Karachi Kings beat Lahore Qalandars by five wickets

Lahore Qalandars 134-7, 20 overs (Tamim Iqbal 35, Fakhar Zaman 27; Waqas Maqsood 2-18, Umaid Asif 2-18, Arshad Iqbal 2-26)

Karachi Kings 135-5, 18.4 overs (Babar Azam 63 not out, Chadwick Walton 22; Dilbar Hussain 2-28, Haris Rauf 2-30)

Player of the match – Babar Azam (Karachi Kings)

I'm still only 22. Haven't developed the old man's habit of randomly dozing off but watching Tamim bat finally did it for me.

Woke up just now to find out LQ scrambled for a paltry 134 and Babar Azam breezed it.

Ehsan Mani says PCB fulfilled another commitment

Karachi, 18 November 2020:

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ehsan Mani today congratulated all participants, officials, local administration and security agencies on the successful completion of the HBL Pakistan Super League 2020 on Tuesday under the National Stadium floodlights.

While an empty National Stadium for the playoffs took the gloss away from the first homecoming event that saw nearly 600,000 spectators cross turnstiles in the 30 league matches (last four league matches were played behind closed doors after the Covid-19 outbreak in Pakistan) before the event was suspended on 17 March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, there was no doubt that the HBL Pakistan Super League 2000 had been an outstanding success given the very difficult circumstances.

The two Karachi Kings versus Lahore Qalandars’ home and away preliminary round matches at the National and Gaddafi Stadium were packed-to-capacity as the fans thronged the two iconic and historic venues to watch the oldest rivalry in Pakistan cricket.

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani: “I had promised following the HBL Pakistan Super League 2019 that the 2020 edition will be held in Pakistan from start to finish. I reiterated this when the event was suspended prior to the playoff stage, and despite several challenges, uncertainties and doubts, I am delighted that the PCB has fulfilled another commitment and promise to the loyal and passionate Pakistan cricket fans and supporters.

“But at the same time, I am sad that Karachi Kings had to make history before an empty National Stadium. This great game is all about fans and their absence was badly missed by all of us, including the players and match officials. We can only visualise the celebrations and a festive occasion this final would have created, only if the situation was normal.

“I have been overwhelmed and touched by the fans’ support and appreciation who followed action on television and live-streaming, and took to the social media proactively and with great enthusiasm to contribute in enhancing the reputation and image of the country through positive and sporting posts and engagements. This was just another example of no matter what, you cannot take cricket out of the lives and systems of the Pakistan fans.

“With the Covid-19 situation being an evolving one, the PCB will continue to monitor it and work with the authorities to explore ways of allowing fans to attend matches when international cricket and HBL Pakistan Super League matches are held in 2021.

“The fans’ following, interest and enthusiasm of the Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars final also reflected the value and importance of inter-city matches, something we are on course of rolling out at the City Cricket Association level. Pakistan is lucky to have separate city-based and Cricket Association-based competitions as we aim to make these brands stronger and more popular.

“I also want to offer my wholehearted thanks to the Sindh government and the local security agencies who continued their support of Pakistan cricket by helping in the successful delivery of the playoffs. I also want to offer my gratitude to the local and provincial administrations of other provinces who stood behind us in the preliminary stage matches, which were the cornerstone of the playoffs in Karachi.

“The visiting players were once again appreciative of the way they were looked after and I am sure following these playoff matches, we have added more ambassadors of Pakistan cricket.

“Not many will know, understand and recognise the efforts and hard work of the PCB staff, who have worked incredibly hard to demonstrate to the world that Pakistan can organise and deliver high-quality cricket successfully despite the challenging and difficult Covid-19 situation.

“The PCB has already delivered more than 55 per cent of a full domestic season, while the home international series against Zimbabwe was smooth and flawless.

“I remain confident that the PCB will succeed in completing the 2020-21 domestic season. We look forward to hosting South Africa under the Future Tours Programme agreement in January/February 2021 and leading international cricketers will also return to feature in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2021, which will be played at the back of the home series against South Africa.

“I want to thank all the foreign stars who arrived in Karachi for the playoffs. This not only reflected the stature and value of the HBL Pakistan Super League, but also their loyalty and commitment to their sides.

“As for the local players, it has not been an easy time since the start of the season on 30 September as they have continued to remain in the bio-secure bubble. I know this requires a lot of mental toughness and extra efforts to remain in a restricted environment, take the field almost every day and then produce strong performances. The sacrifices they are making will only contribute in helping them become stronger and tougher professional athletes.

“Lastly, I want to thank all the PCB’s commercial partners, particularly Habib Bank Limited, for their continued patronage and support, as well as the media, who dedicated big spaces in their newspapers and allocated airtime in their prime bulletins and space on their digital platforms to highlight and promote the HBL Pakistan Super League, which continues to strengthen its reputation, credibility and following with every match.”

He made shaheen look like a amatuer
If Pakistan can find a couple of more good batmen (like Babar) then it will be a very good team. The batting
lets down Pakistan. The current bowlers are inexperienced but will become good.

I think Haider ali is a good Bateman and I rate highly may not be a run machine but will win you games on his own.
Another 1 is abdullah hes more of babar kind of player he looks good with decent technique.
Saud I belive has all the shots and has a decent record in domestic. They need a dynamic wicket keeper at the moment we dont really have 1 close one that comes to it is zeeshan Ashraf but his keeping is average

In t20s thiers a couple positions avaliable eg oppening if Haider is going to bat at 3.number 5 wicket keeper.

In odis I have really looking foward to
1.Haider 2.abdullah 3.babar 4.saud 5 keeper 6.khushdil

Happy for Karachi and very touching for them to pay tribute to Dean Jones
