After #TheFallOfGabba, Karachi has secured it's longest unbeaten streak.

Thanks to a small contribution by India, Karachi is now officially the greatest fortress ever in Cricket.

Pakistan never lost a match here 1955-1999

They lost 1 in 2000 (ENG) and one in 2007 (RSA)!!!!

Can this young little South African Team under Quinny breach the ultimate fortress by making a comeback in next couple of days?

Karachi was a fortress but then England breached it, you can't call it a fortress when you have only played 2 tests after 2007 defeat vs SA.

This is the 3rd test game Pakistan is playing in Karachi if I'm not wrong, SA defeated us here in 2007.

IMO Dehli is the longest standing fortress in test cricket, India haven't lost a single game in dehli after their loss vs WI in 1987 if I'm not wrong.

No, Pakistan was unbeaten in Karachi till 2000. They were 34 matches unbeaten at the National Stadium Karachi from 1956-2000, when England won in fading light.

Gabba came close to that 34 match unbeaten streak but it ended after India's win there.

On topic, India have helped Pakistan preserve their records on 2 occasions now.

First India won at Perth against Australia in 2008 and prevented them from equaling Pakistan's record of 26 consecutive matches unbeaten at home. Australia were 25 consecutive matches unbeaten at home prior to their defeat at India's hands at Perth.

Secondly, India won at the Gabba in 2021 and prevented Australia from levelling Pakistan's record of 34 consecutive matches unbeaten at National Stadium Karachi. Australia were 31 consecutive matches unbeaten at the Gabba, Brisbane from 1988-2021, but again India ended this streak and helped Pakistan preserve their record.

We must thank our neighbors for helping us preserve our records :inti

Records are meant to be broken, though there are records which are likely to stand the test of time

As we found out recently, this fortress bla bla means nothing. You are only as good or bad as your current team.

Karachi, just like Gabba, did not become a fortress because of the current team.

Bringing India to Karachi and see what happens to the fortress.

One thing is for sure, it will be very hard for any team to surpass Pakistan's record at the NSK. Australia seemed most likely to do it at the Gabbtoir, but their 31 match unbeaten streak is over now.

India have a good chance at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi though. Its been many years since India lost at the Kotla. Although I don't know how many matches, India are unbeaten there currently but they can come close to matching or even surpassing Pakistan's record at the NSK.

LOL where did India come from? Are you unaware that Pakistan and India don't play each other in bilaterally?

I have to thank our Indian brothers. This is a great record to have and I really hope it continues for as long as possible. Even at present we are unbeaten at NSK for 14 years :jk

And though no fortress can remain a fortress as Australia and Sri Lanka found out this month, I really hope we keep winning here for a long time.

Lol aren’t we unbeaten in Pakistan in tests for 14 years by same logic

India also helped Pakistan preserve their record of 26 consecutive test matches unbeaten at home, which Pak achieved from 1980-1986. Australia were 25 consecutive test matches unbeaten at home from 2003-2008, but their streak got broken when India beat them at Perth in 2008.

So twice they have helped us preserve our records. True brothers they are:inti

I thought Karachi's unbeaten streak ended in 2001?

Yes but after #TheFallOfGabba, Karachi has successfully defended it's longest unbeaten streak.

I think 37 matches.

Practically speaking, this speak may never be broken now.

Gabba had a very good shot, it came quite close with 31 tests unbeaten.

But Indians ensured, Karachi defended it's reign, probably forever. :kapil

My point was that Karachi isn't the fortress anymore, Pakistan has lost twice in Karachi in 21st century that streak ended when England defeated us in 2001.

Feroz Shah Kotla or whatever it's name is now is still the fortress. Nobody has breached it after 1987

Feroz Shah Kotla's streak is a baby infront of Karachi 34 which has been sending joy and pride to Andruni mulq since decades.

Certainly it is but it's still going on & I don't see anyone who can beat India there, the current wining streak of Pakistan in Karachi is 1 win & 1 draw after 2007 loss.

Another cracker on the cards at Karachi, the legendary venue.

Ah ok, that's what you mean.

Yes, that seems unlikely now that test teams are exchanges wins and losses so often.

2. SA @ SSP, Centurion= 10.5
3. Ind @ PCA, Mohali= 7
4. Aus @ Hobart= 4.5

Pakistan at National Stadium, Karachi
Tests - 43
Wins - 23
Losses - 2
Draws - 18
Win / loss - 11.5
It's Pakistan's fortress...No team has dominated at a particular venue like Pakistan at Karachi in Test cricket...
2 losses vs Eng & SA

All Hail Karachi.

The greatest fortress ever in Cricket.

I have come here to offer my humble tributes to this legendary fortress registering one more emphatic win.

Sending smiles through Andruni Mulq since 1947

It will be a dream come true to register a test win at Karachi. Pakistan become a different team at this venue.

Irfan Pathan almost did it for us once but Kamran denied us. :kamran

Man, i really really wish to see an Indo Pak bilateral series. Miss those days.

Yeah, a Pak-Ind test series is one for the ages. Should have both home and away legs.

Didn't knew Pakistan had a superb record at Karachi. Needs to be up there on the media more often.

This used to come up a lot when Pakistan actually played at home. It was picked by a lot of news sources during the 95 test match when Inzamam and Mushtaq squeaked Pakistan home with a one wicket victory - having 50 odd run last wicket partnership.

I remember watching that game, quite tense, expecting the (then) unbeaten record at NSK to fall, and instead we somehow won. Amazing test match!

By the way, during those times Niaz Stadium in Hyderabad had one up on National Stadium, that is we were unbeaten in Hyderabad in both tests and ODIs, whereas NSK had seen a few ODI losses. I am not sure what happened to Niaz Stadium, as during early 2000s it was mostly holding wedding receptions :(

Wish we had played more test cricket in the 1990s. Wasim Waqar vs Tendulkar Azhar bhai should have been the spectacle of the 1990s India-Pakistan cricket.

We would have lost most of the times of course but the quality of cricket at display would have been top notch.

Tendulkar played very little vs Pakistan in his prime and that 140 something of his at Chennai still sends shivers down my spine at the way he handled Waqar, Saqlain, Wasim.

India - Pakistan are so close they could have a series like where they alternate test venues between both nations.

Imagine :-

1st Test : Kolkata
2nd Test : Lahore
3rd Test : Mumbai
4th Test : Karachi

Good times indeed. Every team has the right to be sher at home and Pakistan need to be entitled to this again.

It's just great for the game overall. The sub-continent really needs to understand the gravity of influence it can have on economy and sport if they handle things smartly.

Why do that though? Just play regular bilateral series, every 2 years. even though we'd probably lose most of the time, I'd still love to see it happen.

peshawar, rawalpindi, lahore, mohali, delhi, kolkatta, call it GT road series

All players from the 90s hail NSK as the best stadium in Pakistan.

Maybe something that should also be practiced by aus and nz. 2 matches in aus 2 matches in nz. Would remove home advantage and we wont see one team mauling the other in a series.
