What's new

Kashmir bowler Rasikh Salam banned for two years by BCCI for age fudging

https://youtu.be/mmh_4eE-jLM
That was his first game for J&K senior team against a very strong Andhra team.
Not a bad performance this, from this video you could notice that he is quick, can swing the ball, gets good bounce and hits the bat hard. His main delivery is the inswinger which we hardly saw in the video unfortunately.Views JattMaula cricketjoshila Madplayer UN talkz troodon

He's only 17, has got hell lot of time to work on the little issues he has got, best thing is that he has got a chance to prove himself and learn from the best, which unfortunately rest of JK pacers didn't get otherwise JK wud have produced some World Class pacers.

Time for him to rise and chance, he has got everything, just needs to keep working hard. He has been unplayable in U19 trophy and best part is that team management is using him wisely and not making him bowl too many overs considering the threat he possesses with ball in hand.

Made his FC debut today against Assam, 2/28 from 10 overs.

A decent debut.Picked up Assam's best batsman's wicket and good to see four U19 players in the playing XI.I am hopeful that from next season onwards J&K will perform well provided they don't bring ttf's back.

Rasikh had a good outing against a strong Jharkhand team.Picked up 3 top order batsmen and had fun while batting.Smashed the likes of Shahbaz Nadeem and Anukul Roy for fun.Smashed 4 sixes and 3 fours in his cameo of 40 of 25 deliveries.
Disappointing season for J&K though.Even though they managed to win 3 matches they were far from good this season. The pleasing thing is that they managed to get the team combination right at the very end.
Looking forward to see talented players like Qamran, Rasikh, Musaif in the next season. They all are 16,17 only yet they have shown that they are here to stay...

Check out his batting in the last Ranji Trophy match, potential to become an allrouder?

Even after having an average of 18 in Cooch Behar trophy and 21 in Ranji Trophy, Rasikh Salam fails to find a place in any of the U19 teams for India.
Any thoughts about this snub..

Madplayer UN talkz there is a T20 match of J&K streaming on hotstar and Star sports 2.Got a chance to look at the bowlers.
Ram Dayal bowled with an average speed of 115 and his fastest delivery was 120.
Mujtaba Yousuf, who is only 16 bowled really well,he did go for runs but I think he has the potential to be really good.He bowled one ball over 130kph and his average speed was 127.
Rasikh Salam bowled one over 131 Kph and he has a good back of a hand slower one.Although he does give many freebies but even the commentators were saying that there must be with the speed guns as he was looking quick.
Lastly there is another 17 year old player.Samad,he is a leggie and has a good googly and also opens the innings.
You guys can watch the highlights on hotstar.
Do you guys think bowlers bowling 130Kph at 17 is something which should get us Kashmiris excited?

What a golden opportunity for Rasikh Salam here.
Playing in the very first match.
He might have impressed in nets but I think he is still way too raw for IPL.

Good potential but would have liked if he was faster and taller. Let’s see how it goes for him

Bowled an absolute brute of a delivery to Dhawan. He had no clue about that.
His very first delivery was a no ball but still conceded only six in the first over and got Dhawan out too but that was on a free hit.

Good potential but would have liked if he was faster and taller. Let’s see how it goes for him

His pace will improve. His highest pace was 134.5 and average pace of 130 is good for a 17 year old kid but I am afraid that he will get murdered bowling 130kph in IPL.
Height also is a concern.

Very very good action. As I have said earlier, he needs 4-5 inches minimum boost as he gets older. Pace will increase.

Pace increased in second over, bowled couple of deliveries at 138.5 Kph but two no balls in two overs have ruined his figures

He has to stop bowling no balls but I remember when he played the very first match for J&K he bowled 5-6 no balls in his first spell but since then he had stopped bowling no balls but its a huge stage this the pressure gets to you

He was very nervous. Will improve with more games under his belt. It is very difficult for someone coming from Kashmir to bowl at such big stage. It is a raw talent. Can be polished for future.

Not that raw. He looks ready for this stage. Mumbai talent scouts rarely bet on wrong horse.

Agree with you completely. He clearly looked nervous and those two no balls were purely because of the pressure.Still bowled some good deliveries and if he gets a longer run he will surely improve.

He will get a lot of chances, one thing MI does better than anyone is giving new guys chances.

Good to see our Kashmiri boi
Want to see Kamran also
I think these 2 will go long way

Got smashed in his last over and it was always going to be tough bowling the 19th over and that too to Rishabh Pant.Bumrah too conceded 30 odd in his last two overs. It just was Pant's day today

Kashmiris has talent and it is time India recognised that and gives them the right platform to showcase their talent.

https://youtu.be/XKMS9YQXrlo
So apparently he impressed everyone in the nets,be it Shane Bond,Zaheer Khan,Rohit Sharma or Yuvraj Singh but it looks like that Rohit wanted him in the team anyhow and he got his opportunity.
If he gets to play in the next match then it will be a huge opportunity for him as he will be bowling on another flat deck and that too against the likes of Kohli and AB but I believe he didn't bowl to his full potential in his first match and his strong point is that big booming inswinger to the right hander but for that he needs to pitch the ball up and if he does that then he will cause troubles.

Picked for India U19 tour of England. Time to shine. He is way too good for U19.

If there is any swing then he becomes lethal,he bowls those big booming inswingers that Bhuvi,Sandeep Sharma,Anwar Ali used to bowl in the start of their career.Wonder what happened to these three actually they don't swing the ball that much now.Bhuvi does swing it but as much as he used to 5-6 years back.
Coming back to Rasikh,he bowled really well in the NCA camp that was held recently and was the leading wicket taker in the practice matches.I guess playing 140kph at a young age is tough so he might take wickets in the U19 tournament.

I have so much expectations from Qamran,we(Kashmiris) haven't seen a batting talent like him ever,I mean seriously ever.

Qamran should do well, he's played all his cricket outside Kashmir and trained with professionals at proper cricket academies.

Rasikh on the other hand, was unknown until 9 months back.

Exactly.Couldn't agree with you more.
Rasikh is a raw talent and I feel the time he spent in the Mumbai Indians dugout will help him a lot.
Qamran has been a part of the system from the U-14's and he plays his cricket in Delhi during the winters, which is very wise considering the weather here in Kashmir.

Wow,so apparently a 2 year ban coming up for Rasikh Salam.Just when I thought that J&K cricket is on the rise.
Actually to fudge the age is pretty easy in J&K and most(8 out of 10) do fudge their ages but the reason Rasikh is caught is that he had never played any age group cricket before 2018 and now that he has fudged his age,his records(class 10th board certificate) is there Infront of everyone.
Such a sad story this!!

Pretty sad that he/his well wishers felt need to this. He is good even if he is 19 and not 17.

I won't be surprised if this is another scam from JKCA administrators, these things don't happen overnight, it's shocking that it has came to limelight now, when Rasikh probably is in India's plans for the U19 WC.

Let's hope for the best, this article is only quoting the JKCA guys so it can be entirely a false propaganda. But if it's true, can't do much abt it, it's entirely his mistake then.

I see how IPL is taking credit for finding this young talent. He was actually spotted by Irfan Pathan during a talent hunt program in Jammu and Kashmir. You can find his videos on youtube. :inti

Qamran Iqbal is a tall lad. He reminds me of Alex Hales. He should stay away from Pyjama League and target playing for India. There will be two spots available for openers in the near future. :inti

I read the article from the Indian Express too and it was clearly written in that article that he is 19.
I do believe that he has faked his age as he gave his 12 class examinations last year and that does mean that he is 19.
He reduced 2 years from his age to play in the upcoming U-19 world cup.Now there is another case of a promising fast bowler Mujtaba Yousuf who believe it or not is 20 years old but his records suggest that he is 16.Mujtaba did it pretty early, before the board exams and thus won't be caught.
I do not support this at all but I do understand why players do it.Banning a player for 2 years is way too harsh imo.

Pretty sad that he/his well wishers felt need to this. He is good even if he is 19 and not 17.

It's pretty obvious why he did it.Playing for Ind U19 in a world cup brings you instantly into the limelight and selectors start to follow your performances.
2 years ban coming up most probably.
Players from Punjab and J&K do fudge their ages. Not saying that players from other states don't but the ratio is very high among these two teams.

He is actually suited to that league that you are referring. He is an attacking player but his focus is completely on playing all formats for India.

Mumbai will try to save him. Hope this will not ruin the kids career.

may be a 3 months fine to slap him on the wrist but 2 years fine would ruin his career

U-19 World Cup winner Manjot Kalra’s parents fudged his age: Police chargesheet

Manjot Kalra, the Man of the match in India’s U-19 team’s World Cup winning final game in New Zealand last year, is a year older than he claims to be, according to Delhi Police’s special investigation unit of the crime branch that is probing several cases of age fudging among those playing junior cricket in the capital.

Advertising
According to the chargesheet filed before the chief metropolitan magistrate, Tis Hazari Courts, Kalra’s original date of birth is January 15, 1998 and not January 15, 1999 as indicated in the BCCI records. Since the player wasn’t an adult at the time the FIR was filed, his parents — Parveen Kumar and Ranjit Kaur — have been named in the charge sheet. Parents of 11 other players who like Kalra obtained false birth certificates from municipal authorities to be eligible for lower-age groups too were found guilty by Delhi Police and find a mention in the chargesheet.

The Delhi Police found discrepancies in Kalra’s date of birth when they scrutinised records of the two schools the cricketer had been registered. It also found that he got his passport renewed after securing a false birth certificate.

According to the chargesheet a false affidavit was submitted by the parents to get his birth certificate date changed by a year.

“It is crystal clear that the date of birth of Manjot Kalra has been fudged/changed by his parents in order to give him undue benefit of playing with the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). It is proved beyond doubt that the birth certificate of Manjot Kalra has been fudged/changed by his parents,” the chargesheet states.

The cricketer’s father, however, denied that his son’s age had been fudged. “When he was first admitted in school, the entry made by a relative was wrong and we later got it corrected. His correct year of birth is 1999,” Parveen said on Wednesday.

Another prominent cricketer whose birth certificates were allegedly forged when playing Under-15 cricket is Nitish Rana, the middle-order batsman who has played 30 first-class matches for Delhi. The 25-year-old has also been on the roster of the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. “It is proved without any doubt that the birth certificate submitted for Nitish Rana at the time of applying with the DDCA is forged. The whole of the above episode was directed by Dara Singh Rana (father) to give undue and undeserving benefit to his son to play with DDCA,” the chargesheet states, adding that the cricketer was a juvenile at the time of the forgery.

The parent/parents of the following cricketers have also been named in the chargesheet: Harsh Tyagi, Ankit Pratap Singh, Harshit Sethi, Raja Khan, Bharat Gupta, Prasant Bhandari, Prateek Kaushik and Sarang Rawat. Cricketer Deepak Khatri has been chargesheeted as he was not a juvenile at the time of falsification of age proof documents

The chargesheet also names current DDCA secretary Vinod Tihara who was the convenor of the sports working committee of the state cricket unit, also the owner of the Lal Bahadur Shastri Cricket Club where cricketers found to be over-aged played and was also part of the management of the Vidya Jain Public School where they studied. “He (Tihara) has been elected as member of the sports working committee (SWC) since 2004. The ten elected members of the SWC selected him as convenor of the SWC. Panel of selectors for different age groups are selected by the executive committee on the recommendations of the SWC… From the above investigation it is evident that Vinod Tihara showed rosy pictures to the parents of Manjot Kalra and it was under his allurement they fudged the birth date of their son, get (sic) him admitted to Vidya Jain Public School with birth certificate fudged, which was later on used and submitted with the DDCA on the instructions of accused Vinod Tihara,” the chargesheet stated.

Based on former India cricketer Kirti Azad’s complaint FIRs were filed in 2014 and 2015 alleging age manipulation by cricketers and their parents in order to make them eligible to play in the Under-16 and Under-19 category.

CHENNAI: A day after Rasikh Salam Dar found himself in hot water for age-fudging, another Jammu and Kashmir cricketer Qamran Iqbal Lone has landed in trouble on the same charges. The right-hand batsman made his first-class debut in the 2018-19 season. Coincidentally, Qamran and Rasikh have recently been picked in India U-19 squad for a one-day tri-series starting in England on July 21.

The controversy might lead to duo’s ouster from the team. They may also be banned for two seasons and can face criminal action if the committee of administrators (CoA) implement decisions taken by it in a meeting held in May last year.

As per an informal complaint filed with the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) chief executive officer (CEO) Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, the opener allegedly tampered with his age certificate changing the year of birth from 1999 to 2001. Class VIII certificate showed Qamran’s date of birth as October 17, 1999 but it was changed to October 17, 2001 two years later when he was in class X. “Yes a parent approached the JKCA CEO with the documents accusing Qamran of age-fudging. The CEO has asked him to file a formal complaint,” a source privy to the development said.

Dr Mohammad Iqbal Lone, Qamran’s father, however, refuted the allegation. “A complaint in this regard was made two years ago and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) even investigated it but it was found to be baseless.” The JKCA CEO and members of the CoA remained unavailable for their comments. Qamran has played three Ranji matches for J&K this season. He also played for India A in the Quadrangular U-19 Series in March bagging Man of the Match award by virtue of his 60-run knock against South Africa A in the opener.

====

And now Qamran bites the dust too.

It cannot be more ironic than this. Two players from Kashmir get selected for the U19 team and within a week both are in huge trouble.
So Qamran and Rasikh will be out for some time due to age fudging.

Rasikh will still make good career out of his talent. Which is the most important thing. Indian selectors will have their eyes on him. He just needs to keep performing in ranjhi and odi comps. He will be something special.

BCCI and COA will take required action on him. These kind of issues should be handled with severe actions such that other youths will not do it.

I feel the best thing to do is that you ban such players from playing age group cricket.

What the hell :danish

This is disgusting now, all the hopes of new dawn in JK cricket down the drain... But if it turns out true, they deserve the bans, this is a serious issue in JK, happens in every field

#BREAKING: J&K pacer Rasikh Salam, who made his debut for Mumbai Indians this year, has been banned by the BCCI for two years after submitting a faulty birth certificate to the Board

Pakistan should also start doing this. Our players' ages have always been mocked.
