He has good relations with PSL and is well liked by Pakistanis - his modern batting style could be great for our team's batters in the short formats of the game.

Why not use him?

Well he needs to put his ego away and also not get emotional as coaching Pakistan can be frustrating.

I don't think he would be interested tbh. I think he will want to spend time with his family.

He can come when we train and its not every month.

I'm assuming you would want him in a full time role something which he won't commit to.

I'd say only for LOI teams

That could allow him an exposure to the team and see how it develops

Ridiculous idea. Guy proved himself to be an utterly selfish and egotistical individual and to put him in the centre of a volatile country and mercurial team is just asking for trouble. And what are his coaching credentials anyway?

I would love to see the duo of misbah and Younis take up some kind of junior level coaching and then step up to seniors in a few years.

Could be a very good option, am sure he will consider the role. Many people have narrow minded opinions on him due to their ignorance but on merit he can be a great coach

For OP. So you really think this position for batting Coach 'll soon be available?:13:

Not sure but statement such as we need to improve on batting, bowling and fielding will not go down with fans etc

He can be used as a batting consultant like the way ECB uses Saqlain Mushtaq on certain tours. But I can only see this happening ten years down the road.

Not a terrible shout. Great modern batsman who made the most of his talent. Although, like some have pointed out he is a bit self-serving and those people don't always make the best coaches.

Doubt he has the temprament, he comes across as someone who cannot tolerate someone not meeting his own standards. One of the reasons why he was not like by his English team mates was his general attitude of being better than everyone else while everyone else were like sub humans.

From what I understand, he will retire in 12 months and then he plans to build his own house in South Africa. He will probably be unavailable.

Misbah and/or Younis would be a great shout though.

Coaching Credentials - Does he have any?
Coaching Experience - How much of it?

Willing to relocate to Pakistan? Remember Flower/Aurthr/Nixon have no problems in this regard. KP even couldn't make available for a single game in Lahore so I doubt he'd give it a go (realistically speaking).

Also then comes the temperament, coaching Pakistan isn't easy (by any stretch of imagination).

I don't think Kevin is looking for a coaching role at the moment. He might still remain with the BBL in some capacity and he also commentates in BBL during the season. He will be looking for media roles I feel.

One thing is for sure, its time to move on from Grant Flower, i believe he has been given a 2 year extension since the CT win.

His people skills are clearly poor.

And I never understood the assumption that great players make great coaches.

Let him prove himself elsewhere first, then we'll see.

I ocassionally check his twitter and it seems Dubai is one of his favourite places. Also UAE is pretty much now a home turf for Pakistan, so KP won't mind being their batting coach at all.

lol recipe for disaster

and i can bet my bottom dollar he wont be least bit interest

yep - and that's where we play most of our games.

Guy has so much experience and the mindset of an aggressor as we saw in PSL -if not coach then a special 2-3 week camp with KP in Dubai for our top batters in LOIs would be great

Seems to have a great cricket brain, him and Ponting are great at commentary.

Will be a good choice.

It will be either a great decision or disastrous one.

In the end, each and every (Pakistani or outsider) coach is fed up with PCB's officials and we end up bad.

Let's see if PCB can rope him.

We will be after his head within 6 months because Inzi will continue to select his Accumulators XI. No batting coach can change that.

the guy is friends with AHmed Shezad.

No way..

He is a good option but the problem lies within Pakistan batsmen mentality and technical weakness on seaming pitches. Sure, KP will bring aggressive batting approach but the underlying issues remain with inept Pakistan batsmen.

He didn't come late time due to security reasons - he won't come now for same reason.

I won't have him near the Pakistan team- like above posters stated - his ego is damaging.

We will be using him for helping our batters hit big shots not to help with their mental health

He is more interested in media roles and commentary thing. Dont think he will ever become a coach in his life. MenInG maybe batting mentor is more suited for a guy like him rather than a coach which sounds like full time job or involves more responsibilities.

Why not use any of the other great batsmen? KP is no coach. He can barely take accountability for his own actions, let alone guide anyone else.

There are much better batsmen than KP available, many with coaching credentials. Why do you want him in particular?

A coach needs to he disciplined if you want the players to be disciplined. Imagine Umar Akmal and Ahmed Shehzad learning from this guy.

Ignoring the obvious that he has no coaching credentials at any level...

Here is a guy not exactly known for gelling in a team

A guy who was known to be a diva in his playing days

And add Pakistan’s history with off field drama when it comes to teams, captains coaches,PCB,team management etc

Why would you want him as a coach

I would pay good money to watch the drama if that happens though lol.

Knowing him and the Pakistani mentality, kisi ka katal ho jaye ga uss ke hathon

He'll forget what he learned on batting after a week with Azhar, MoHa, Malik, Sarfraz ...........

Like I said, we arent hiring him to tell us jokes and about the meaning of life.

The man can hit the ball and has a technique which we need.

No point asking or wishing for this if KP isn't interested in coaching Pakistan in the first place.
