It's been belted into all of us that we have to have kids at some point in our lives or at the very least attempt to procreate. But there are a lot of issues with this as well. For one, I am scared of whether my kids would aspire the same goals I do. What if they are unhealthy? They are easy to breed but hard to feed. :yk2 I am terrified of having kids like Dr. Suess ( a guy whose whole life was based on writing books intended for children ) I wonder if anybody goes through the same thoughts or if anyone has had children, how they managed this huge ordeal?

If you have a child now, he will likely live up to the 22nd century in a planet where we will expand to 10 billion people and sap it dry.

Does that sound appealing to you? Don't do it.

There is always an element of risk with kids being born unhealthy. Its all luck and genetics. If any of your family or close family has a history of physical and developmental issues, there can be a chance of your kid also getting effected by it. But I see people with Cancer, Heart disease, Diabetes (Type-1) and many other terrible diseases having kids without an ounce of fear.

If you and your side of the family are healthy, just make sure your wife and her side of the family do not have any significant diseases that can cause issues with your kids health.

Regarding whether your kids share your thoughts or not, its a total lottery. You can change them to some extent. But you cannot force yourself upon them completely because there is a good chance they will hate you when they grow up.

Thanks for the great input.

I go through the same thoughts. What if they are unhealthy? What if I cannot give them a good life? What if I am a terrible parent? Plus, growing up Pakistani and hearing, "Your kids will put you through the same that you put us through." Lol, no thank you. Plus, the world we live in is growing terrible day by day. I do not want to bring children into it. Our current generation (20-40 year adults) are here because our parents only knew that way of life. Get married, have kids. That is it. A lot of people still see it that way. What is the purpose of procreation exactly?

World has always been terrible. In fact thanks to modern medicine, many diseases and conditions can be managed easily.

Imagine us living in Stone Age or medieval times. You never know when a carnivore will pounce on you or the army from enemy kingdom will attack and butcher everyone in your city or town.

World is over populated. So at least try having one kid if you have a good job or if you have nice property you inherited. 2 kids is the max.

Nothing lile having kids. The love you have for Them is the only real move. All the money, things, sex, vacation means nothing. We were born to procreate. I think 2 to 4 kids are fine If you Can give Them a good life and Education.

2-4 is too much. Think About Mother Earth.

2-4 is too little for educated parents, as their collective knowledge is being restricted to a few kids..and the world is getting deprived of their full potential. If anything, the less educated should be neutered after 2 kids, and educated should get state incentives to produce 6 kids.

That's interesting because most people say its the other way around.
