Kylian Mbappe - An ATG in the making?

@Rajdeep

Here are some achievements for Mbappe and he is just 26 years old:

- Won a World Cup. Could've won two as France lost 2022 final.
- Just 10 goals away from being the all-time highest scorer for France.
- Just 5 goals away from being the all-time highest scorer in World Cups.
- All-time top scorer for PSG.

So, it is not far-fetched to say he can be in the same league as Pele/Messi/Maradona if he continues like this.

:inti:inti

Bhai mere...I am not saying he is a bad player. However, he is no where at the same level where Ronaldo & Messi was during the same age/time. I see Mbappe more of a Neymar level player as opposed to Messi.

Top scorer for PSG doesn't mean much, isn't it? His real test is now playing for Madrid where both Rodrigo and Junior were equally good, if not better than him. When Ronaldo was in Madrid, he was almost the defacto king which is not the case with Mbappe yet.

Real forward Mbappe in hospital

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is in hospital with gastroenteritis after missing their Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal.

The France captain, 26, missed training on Tuesday with a fever and did not play in Wednesday's 1-1 draw against the Saudi Arabian side.

A Real statement on Thursday said Mbappe has "an acute case of gastroenteritis" and was admitted to hospital for "a series of tests".

Gastroenteritis is an infection in the gut which can cause vomiting and diarrhoea.

Real's next game is against Pachuca on Sunday at 20:00 BST.

Depending on how Mbappe responds to treatment, he is likely to miss that game but could potentially return for Real's final group game against RB Salzburg on 26 June.

Mbappe scored 43 goals in 56 games in all competitions for Real in his first season after joining on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain.

This is Real's first competition under Xabi Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti as manager at the end of the La Liga season.

Real won the Uefa Super Cup and Fifa Intercontinental Cup in Mbappe's first season in Spanish football.

May Mbappe get well soon.

Mbappe 'better' but will miss game against Pachuca

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso says striker Kylian Mbappe is "better" after an illness and, while he will miss his side's Fifa Club World Cup match against Pachuca on Sunday, he could return for their final group game.

Mbappe was absent from training on Tuesday with a fever and missed his side's 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal in Miami on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old was admitted to hospital with what Real described as an "acute case of gastroenteritis" before being released on Thursday and returning to the La Liga club's training complex in Palm Beach.

He has not travelled with his team-mates for Real Madrid's games against Mexican side Pachuca on Sunday at 20:00 BST but could make his first appearance at the tournament when his side face Red Bull Salzburg on Friday at 02:00 BST.

The French star was briefly hospitalised near Miami last week and missed Real's first two matches against Al Hilal and Pachuca.

Mbappe files harassment complaint against PSG and judicial officials are investigating

The Real Madrid star is at odds with his former club, arguing PSG owes him €55 million ($61 million) in unpaid wages.
Mbappe is also unhappy with the way he was treated by the Ligue 1 club when the France captain was sidelined before the 2023-24 season, following his decision not to extend his club contract.

The prosecutor’s office said Mbappe is “denouncing the ‘lofting’ he claimed to have been subjected to at Paris Saint-Germain.” The word lofting is used in France to describe a practice that involves isolating a player from the main squad for sporting, administrative, or disciplinary reasons.

Mbappe joined Real Madrid last summer on a free transfer after scoring a club-record 256 goals in seven years at PSG, which won the Champions League without him this year.

Mbappe’s relationship with PSG ended amid deep tensions, and some fans booed him in his last home game at Parc des Princes. PSG felt let down by Mbappe after offering him the most lucrative contract in club history when he signed a new contract in 2022.

But Mbappe was frustrated because he felt promises to sign key players were not kept. When he signed that deal, he was paraded in front of fans holding up a jersey with 2025 on it. Mbappe was reportedly annoyed because the contract was until 2024 — with a player’s option for an extra season.

Mbappe stunned PSG in June 2023 by informing the club he would not take the option for an extra year. With his contract effectively into its final year, it put PSG in the position of needing to sell Mbappe to avoid losing him for nothing when the contract expired.

His PSG career could have ended that summer amid a tense transfer standoff.

After telling the club he would not extend, Mbappe was left off a preseason tour to Japan and South Korea and forced to train with fringe players. PSG said it would rather sell him than let the player leave for free in 2024, but he rejected a €300 million move to Saudi Arabia team Al-Hilal.

PSG left Mbappe out of the opening league game of that season but he soon returned to the lineup following talks.

Mbappe’s legal team said in April it would start an action against PSG for harassment because of the way he was treated at the time.

'It's crazy' - Mbappe equals Henry's France tally

France captain Kylian Mbappe said equalling Thierry Henry's number of France goals at the age of 26 is "crazy".

The Real Madrid forward moved level with the Arsenal legend on 51 goals for his country as he scored a brilliant solo effort in the 82nd minute to double France's lead in Friday's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Ukraine.

It leaves the 26-year-old six goals behind former Arsenal and Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud's all-time France record of 57 goals.

"Big up to Titi [Henry], but now I want to surpass him," said Mbappe.

"It's an honour to equal a player like Henry, everyone knows what he means to us French people, even more so to strikers. He's someone who paved the way, and I have a lot of respect and admiration for him."

Henry was part of the France squad that won the 1998 World Cup on home soil at the age of 20, while Mbappe was only 19 when Les Bleus won the tournament in Russia in 2018.

Both are behind Giroud's 137 appearances in France's list of most capped players, with Henry ending his international career with 123 caps and Mbappe currently on 90.

France were aiming to defend their status as world champions at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and duly reached the final.

Mbappe scored a hat-trick to take the final to penalties, only for his side to lose to Lionel Messi's Argentina.

Mbappe is now well on track to surpass Giroud, who retired from international football last year following France's defeat by Spain in the European Championship semi-finals.

"The record is getting closer, but it's not something I think about," Mbappe added. "I don't know if it's because I think I can beat it, or because I think there are more important things.

"Reaching this milestone so early is crazy, but I like it. I want to keep going and, above all, win games and titles."

Against Ukraine, Bayern Munich's Michael Olise gave Didier Deschamps' side the lead after 10 minutes in their first match in Group D of qualifying for next year's World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada.

Paris St-Germain's Ousmane Dembele replaced club team-mate Desire Doue at half-time but went off injured in the 81st minute and was replaced by Liverpool's Hugo Ekitike, who came on for his debut.

Mbappe wants £230m from former club PSG

France captain Kylian Mbappe is seeking 263m euros (£231.5m) from Paris St-Germain, with his former club demanding 240m euros (£211m) from the player, as their long-running dispute reached a Paris labour court on Monday.

The 26-year-old Real Madrid forward is claiming the sum, which includes 55m euros (£46.3m) in unpaid wages, from the European champions as damages in response to a contract dispute and alleged perceived ill-treatment by the club.

PSG, however, are claiming their figure as compensation for Mbappe's failed 300m euros transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in 2023.

He joined Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer the following summer.

The tribunal is not expected to come to a decision for several weeks.

The long-running dispute began in July 2023, when Mbappe turned down the move to the Saudi Pro League.

Mbappe believes he was sidelined by the French champions for that decision and for refusing to sign a contract extension.

He was not invited to take part in PSG's pre-season tour of Asia and missed their first match of the season before being reinstated to the side.

PSG claim this followed the player's agreement to forgo some of his end-of-contract payments to protect the club's financial health.

However, Mbappe's representatives have dismissed this as "fantasy", with the player still waiting for salary and bonus payments.

Mbappe spent seven years at PSG from 2017 to 2024, scoring 256 goals in 308 games and winning 15 trophies.

The Real Madrid striker was initially claiming 55m euros (£46.3m) in unpaid wages from the Ligue 1 champions in a dispute which went through French football's governing bodies before reaching the courts.

By the time Mbappe retires, he is likely to be the holder of many records.

If he can win 1 more World Cup, he can be in the same category as Pele, Messi, and Maradona.

Maradona and Messi have just one wc.. Pele has three.. while I understand why others get tagged along with Pele and are GOATs of the game in terms of records but Pele was so influential that 58,62 wc he won for Brazil and then 66 he was at his peak but the Bulgarian and Portuguese teams did so many fouls against him , documented fouls mind you that he was injured (still came to play but again Portuguese injured him) and Brazil got knocked out, England won(home advantage injured Pele), but the legend he is he came back to win the 1970 wc and got the golden ball- He is unbeatable in my eyes.

1966 wc is the biggest Sham.. and worst play against a player ever, as usual England always wins wcs.

Pele, Maradona, and Messi are in the same category.

It is not just about World Cup. That's one component. You have to look at other factors like number of goals scored, number of other trophies etc.

The world cup is one of the toughest aspect as that was actually the biggest competition among footballers back then.

The way Pele took down his opponents winning golden boot, balls was nothing set of extra ordinary.

Teams had to injure him to get a wc win..

By your logic, Joginder Sharma is better than Brian Lara since Lara won no WC and Joginder won 1. :inti

A player's greatness in a team sport is determined by his personal stats and also the trophies he won.

If we combine all factors, Pele, Maradona, and Messi are the best of all time.

No my logic is Alan Border is better than Sunny gavaskar because how much influential he was in games.

I have already said the other footballers are Goats.. my point is Pele was on next level.

Imran Khan is better than Botham for the same reason..

PSG court hearing on Mbappe league ruling set for February

The preliminary court hearing requested by Paris Saint-Germain over a French football league (LFP) decision in the dispute between the club and Kylian Mbappe has been scheduled for February 23, a source close to the case told AFP on Tuesday.

The separate case is linked to the bitter face-off between Mbappe and his former club, which was heard last week by the French labour court, where the France star claimed 263 million euros ($304m) in compensation and the club responded by demanding he pay them 440m euros.

The decision in that case is expected on December 16.

February's preliminary hearing is related to the beginning of the dispute in September 2024 when the player, who left for Real Madrid on a free transfer after seven seasons in Paris, claimed 55 million euros from his former club in unpaid wages and bonuses.

The French league ordered PSG to pay this sum to Mbappe, a decision confirmed by its joint appeals commission in October 2024.

PSG refused to pay and sued the LFP in the Paris judicial court, contesting these decisions.

Following this lawsuit, the LFP's disciplinary committee and then the French Football Federation's (FFF) appeals committee deemed themselves not competent to rule on the appeal.

The preliminary hearing will debate the merits of the case, which then generally takes place several weeks later.

When contacted by AFP, PSG declined to comment.

An investigation against unnamed persons for psychological harassment is still underway despite Mbappe withdrawing his complaint in July, according to another source close to the case.

The 26-year-old initially filed a complaint in June over the way he was treated by PSG at the start of the 2023-24 season.

Mbappe argued that he was sidelined by the Qatari-owned club and made to train with players the club were trying to offload after refusing to agree a new contract.

PSG ordered to pay Mbappe 60m euros

Paris St-Germain have been ordered to pay former striker Kylian Mbappe 60m euros (£52.5m) in unpaid salary and bonuses by a French court.

Mbappe had been seeking 263m euros (£231.5m) from his former club after the long-running dispute reached a Paris labour court in November.

The European champions were counter-suing the France captain for 240m euros (£211m).

The 26-year-old Real Madrid forward claimed the nine-figure sum as damages in response to a contract dispute and ill-treatment by the club.

However, he was awarded just over a fifth of that amount in court on Tuesday.

The court recognised that PSG had failed to pay three months of his salary between April and June 2024 as well as an ethics bonus and a signing bonus under his contract.

It is believed that the majority of the money awarded to Mbappe was bonuses, rather than his salary.

In May, a 55m euro sum in the club's accounts was frozen following a request by Mbappe's legal team.

"We are satisfied with this ruling. This is what you could expect when salaries went unpaid," Mbappe's lawyer Frederique Cassereau said.

In a statement, Mbappe's legal team added: "This judgement confirms that commitments entered into must be honoured. It restores a simple truth: even in the professional football industry, labour law applies to everyone.

"Mr Mbappe, for his part, scrupulously respected his sporting and contractual obligations for seven years, right up to the final day."

While accepting the court's ruling, PSG haven't ruled out appealing against the decision.

The club had been seeking compensation for Mbappe's failed 300m euro transfer to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal in 2023.

He joined Spanish giants Real Madrid on a free transfer the following summer.

The club's statement read: "Paris St-Germain takes note of the judgement pronounced by the Paris Labour Court, which it will execute, while reserving the right to appeal.

Why Mbappe had £1.3m ethics bonus in PSG contract

Kylian Mbappe is set to become 60m euros (£52.5m) richer after winning a battle for unpaid salary and bonuses against his former club Paris St-Germain.

One aspect of Mbappe's legal victory raised eyebrows - PSG were told they must hand over 1.5m euros (£1.3m) in "ethics bonus" payments to the France forward.

For football fans in the UK an ethics bonus might sound a little strange, but in France it is a normal part of a professional athlete's contract.

The "ethics bonus" has made headlines before, primarily when details of Neymar's PSG contract were revealed by Spanish newspaper El Mundo., external

The Brazil forward's deal stipulated a monthly ethics payment of 541,680 euros (£475,876). For Mbappe the bonus was worth 500,000 euros (£438,000) a month.

Reports picked up on clauses that required Neymar to show "courtesy, friendliness and availability to supporters". He was also expected to "greet fans before and after each game".

The truth behind the ethics bonus is very different.

Ethics bonus. Interesting.

Never heard of this before.
