Ask yourself, have we won any major games because of these two senior TTfs? How many major ICC tournaments have we lost because these batsmen failed to perform under pressure and against good attack?

Shoaib Malik has a knack to perform "decent" against week teams to retain his place but when there is a 300 plus run to chase, he lays an egg!. We can't continue to rely on these two senior TTFs.

One word comes into mind about these two players "Mediocre" and its unforuntate we have settled down with such standards. All the major articles points out that Malik could be the key to Pakistan success. Seriously? If he is our best or second best batsman then God have mercy on us.

I would rather lose with younger players . Imagine if fawad alam, sohaib maqsood or any other modern bastmen were given that many chances, I'm sure there is no doubt in my mind they would have fared better than hafeez and Malik.

I hope they do well in this tournament for the sake of Pakistan and if they don't, please please lets move on. We don't want mediocre players. Pretty much through out there careers they never won any major tournaments for us and going with law of averages, I don't see them perform at the highest level in this tournament either. Hope I'm wrong! Go Pakistan!

Malik and Hafeez JUST about make the team for now.

Both can bat at a decent pace when required and have the additional utility of being all-rounders as well.

Keep in mind Malik has performed against India in the 2009 CT so he has some experience in the tournament.

I expect a close game and hope Pakistan can win!

That is the problem, we are going with "experience" again but it's too late now. Every WC , we become defensive and start recalling "experienced" TTF hoping they would save us and it never worked! Maybe this time is different!

yes they have to perform and win matches
they need to prove themselves if they want to play 2019 wc

I don't understand the hype created around Malik. He can only score against the weak teams. He cannot play well against a quality pace attack and to expect him to score runs against fast bowlers on a fast and bouncy pitches is too much. His performance in the recent England and Australian series is testament to the fact that he cannot play freely against fast bowlers.
But again,he will retain his position in the team by bashing minnows.I hope that he leaves the team after CT and any deserving yougster(like Saif Badar) replaces him.

Very well said in that tour of England he has pretty mediocre stats 4 matches 123 runs avg.30 he scored 77 in the last match apart from that he had pretty mediocre series even in that match if I remember correctly his catch was dropped.I don't see him succeeding in the CT.

And the 77 runs he scored was by bashing the spinners. In the Australian series, his performance was poor.Highly unlikely that he will succeed in the CT.

Both will be around for a while yet. Hafeez shouldn't be in the team.

Play Malik and Hafeez at 6 & 7 position, so that they are forced to play fast & don't have the luxury to waste balls. Play babar azam, harris sohail and sarfraz at 3, 4 and 5 three good timers who don't play big shots but quickly and safely pace their innings. Use haffez and malik for all round abilities and not as middle order batsman (which they are not good at).

How many last chances they have got?

With this batting line up Pakistan only deserves 8th place in ODI ranking. If they persist with this line up,there will be no nonPakistani fan of this ODI cricket team.Once upon a time i was such a die hard fan of Pakistan,i used to do "intezar" for Pakistan's match and i used to see full match from beginning to end.Such a romantic, unpredictable cricket team Pakistan was. Now i don't bother when Pakistan will play. For few years,i just can remember when i saw most part of an ODI involving them. They have become a "tuk tuk" afraid team, their nature has become so predictable that they are not an attractive team to watch. These batters and bowlers wouldn't have qualified to carry the towel and drinks of Pakistan A team of 90s,yet they are the "automatic" choice of Pak selectors(!!!!).Is it the downgrade of Pakistani talents or just lack of fare selection i don't know.

I don't get this whole 'Malik only scores against weaker teams' argument. Well at least he scores, some of the others in the batting lineup don't even score against minnows. Sure he's no MoYo or Inzi in batting terms however it's not as if there is a long line of incredibly talented batsmen waiting to take his place in the side.

Malik's been scoring, what else do you want?

Hafeez may know his future after couple of games. Expecting him to come good though.

Last chance for Shehzad, Azhar and Wahab.

Ideally Hafeez's name should also be there but this minnow basher always score meaning less runs against poor bowling sides and saves his place.

Absurd post.

Malik has been outstanding since his return and has become a crucial part of this ODI team.

Malik is performing ok. But we should give chances to Hafeez, Shehzad, Azhar and Wahab for another 5 years. . Also need to show doors to our coaches and selectors because there is no talent
