PSL and IPL have a symbiotic relationship.

Without PSL, IPL quality drops significantly.

PSL unearths talent unheard of that are not big enough yet for people to notice and bid on in IPL.

However, once PSL bids on an unknown entity or they play a season and excel, then they are primed to be sent off graduation style to their 9-5 mundane routine if PSL is the college stage with late night studying, parties (no drinking ofc) and humble beginnings.

And there’s no shame in that. It’s not about which league is superior. They both need each other. A sandwich isn’t a sandwich without bread or without the roast beef in the middle. They both compliment each other.

Hope this reminder finds you well. For personal reasons and partially due to having some roots in Hyderabad I will quietly and silently follow the Sunrisers on scorecards or the odd highlight of their owner or the six or four compilation of the most recent game, and maybe crack a smile if they win this season for the good ol’ days.

Unearthing talent - To keep it separate, we have to look at domestic and international level seperately

There are only 4 slots for international players in a team which means, there will be low demand high supply for International superstars.

Foreign coaches have done good enough in both IPL and PSL set ups in this case.

The main difference is the domestic / local set up - India has done really well in this case compared to Pakistan.

Both PSL and IPL now competes in the same poop for international talent. So, any replacements for Tier-1 players who are injured in IPL, they go look for Tier-2 players who will get mostly picked at a decent price in PSL.

I mean if Cummins, Hazelwood etc are not injured, they will not go for shopping on the likes of Spencer johnson and all right?? Because there are only few slots available.


Sad truth is, PSL is acting as a feeder league to give international players for IPL in case of injuries. And Tier-2 players also benefit from this.

If IPL and PSL had a different window, I am sure PSL would find better captains than Marnus Labushchagne

My grandfather was as part of the Brit iindian army was part of team that dug canals in the mardan, nowshera , sawat areas of the n w frontier now called khyber pk. He became fluent in pashto & i believe also farsi. I remember once he met someone from those areas & spoke in fluent pashto & was happy to know about his acquaintances & friends in those villages.

There are other leagues as well where the IPL teams can get a closer look at the player before deciding to bid for them. One of the leagues might be PSL. But there's the hundred , SA20 , BBL as well.

That Zimbabwean bowler Bakharkhani or whatever his name is however should be boycotted from PSL campus. No homecoming party for him post IPL.

PSL is Marnus taking extra classes before he finds his rhythm in a low pressure situation and then is unleashed into IPL.

PSL, like any major university, should be proud of the talent it developed, sent off to IPL where said talent is now crushing it.

It's no co-incidence that the highest scores records are being smashed. You just saw India smash 250+ in a semi-final and final of a world tournament, which in itself is a joke but that's where we are at the moment and the gap will only increase.

You can continue to have balanced pitches but your players will never develop according to the standards required for playing modern day limited overs cricket.

I am not denying what you are saying. I am just saying it is not right to use bowlers as donkeys. They should just use bowling machines if they just want to see boundaries.

Anyway, this trend started after BCCICC happened. Indian greed for money is responsible for this "batting-dominated" status quo.

Also, they do all sorts of unethical practices. For example, India don't allow their players to play in other leagues but accept foreign players in their leagues.

Not sure how other countries are okay with this. Other countries should stop giving NOCs for IPL, unless India show fairness.

India age group competition is where true long term talents are unearthed. Under the right team.management they flourish. RR is typically known for picking an youngster and backing them.for long period.

Ijaz Butt was responsible for the success of IPL. He refused to give the NOCs to the Pakistani players in 2009 to play in the IPL. Since then the IPL has only attained greater heights.
