- Once it was clear that sponsors were not interested in giving the league the kind of sponsorship the PCB expected, the PCB Commercial department refused to sign off on the project and advised Ramiz to abandon the project. Ramiz with his bull headed stubbornness bypassed the objections of the PCB Commercial and Finance department and went to the PCB Board of Governors to approve the tournament. As we all know the PCB has incurred a loss of $4.3 million in this tournament and reports of the amount of money that was wasted on this tournament is one of the biggest reasons which the Shahbaz govt used to get rid of Ramiz. Sethi is now demanding an inquiry as to why did the PCB Commercial and Finance department not stand up to Ramiz and prevent the PCB from incurring such a huge loss.

- Domestic players had not been paid their dues and wages for months

- PJL Pakistani players had not been paid. Foreign players were paid 70% and some mentors like Viv Richards were still unpaid

- Ramiz deliberately had his own likes and dislikes when it came to selection matters and would openly tell selectors to ignore players he didn't approve off. He would even be rude to domestic players in domestic players i.e. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Usama Mir. Wahab Riaz has even stated that Ramiz talked about having an open door policy for all domestic and international players but he kept ignoring his phone calls and messages during his tenure

- Ramiz demanded $3 million from the Emirates Cricket Board for issuing NOC's to Pakistani players in the ILT20 Leagues. The Emirates Cricket Board felt betrayed and insulted given the numerous favors they had done to Pakistan Cricket when they had to play most of their home matches in the UAE from 2009 to 2018. Pakistan given its isolation and lack of BCCI financial muscle was in no position to be making demands and if given a choice between choosing b/w Pakistan and India, all Asian countries will side with India therefore the last thing the PCB could afford to do was to further antagonize the rest of the Asian Block. Sethi is now mending relations with the Emirates Cricket Board where he has promised them that Pakistani players will be given NOC's to play in the Emirates League from the next season onwards for no financial demands. Sethi has also agreed to help the Afghanistan Cricket Board out after Australia's refusal to play the cricket series against them by sending the Pakistani team over when the PSL is over

- Ramiz had antagonized almost all the ex Pakistani players and Media reporters. Ramiz had a my way or the high way approach in the PCB where he would not tolerate any difference of opinion whatsover. Sethi in contrast has a more pragmatic, consultative approach where he takes everyone along

- Ramiz encouraged player power in the team, he gave the captain supreme selection authority to select the squad of 15-16 and the final playing eleven. The position of the Chief Selector became redundant and now we have a situation where Babar and his fans are behaving like Cry babies because the PCB is clamping down on factions in the team and trying to reimpose their authority. Babar thinks he has the right to be unaccountable even though his captaincy results are very disasterous as of now.

- Ramiz made no effort to hire a proper full time elite coach to Pakistan. He wasted 12 - 15 months with an absolutely inefficient buffoon in Saqlain Mushtaq and Pakistan looked tactically poor and berift of ideas against Australia, England and New Zealand. Ben Duckett ruthlessly swept and reverse swept all of the Pakistani spinners in the T-20 and Test series and not once did the Pakistani team management has any clue or idea on how to counter him.

- Ramiz made no effort to hire a replacement for Saqlain and Yousaf at the NHPC once they were appointed with the Pakistani team. All the previous coaches with UK Coaching certificates, experience were let go by Ramiz because they were appointed by the previous board

- I don't even need to get started on the pitches under Ramiz's tenure. The pitches under Ehsan Mani, Wasim Khan were much better, more result oriented in comparison to Ramiz. Also Ramiz had apparently wasted Rs 30 crores on his experiment with pitches with zilch to show for it.

Overall i can't say there were really many positives for Pakistan under Ramiz's tenure. The problems we see in our team is all on him. Ramiz overall has given a bad name to Pakistani Cricketers and his era in charge will now be used to highlight why a Pakistani player cannot be a good administrator.

Brilliant post and my nomination for POTW. The only thing not mentioned in that chargesheet is Ramiz's handling of the media which was disasterous.

Every week he made needless statements such as "blank check waiting for team if we beat India, losing is not an option, we made flat pitches to avoid playing into hands of Australian quicks, we beat a billion dollar team, I told Babar what field to set against India" etc.

He also censored the commentators from criticising the pitches during the Australia series. He is definition of a para likha jahil.

The only positive was that he didn't tinker with the domestic system.

Sethi is now demanding an inquiry as to why did the PCB Commercial and Finance department not stand up to Ramiz and prevent the PCB from incurring such a huge loss.

Irony died a 1000 deaths

Also Ramiz failed to discover the best possible broadcast deal for PSL. The current deal of US$24 Million works out to roughly $0.3 Million per match which pales utterly in front of IPL ($ 13 Million per match). Even the Women's IPL broadcast deal was sold for US$ 0.87 Million per match.

Think Mohammad Wasim was allowed to have his way for too long.

OK here are the ones of could recollect:

1) Giving Babar unconditional powers.
2) Drop-in pitches. Which ultimately failed due to the costs and was unecessary in the first place.
3) Flat tracks forhome test series which failed as PAK still maged to lose.
4) PJL. Youngsters need to play longer format to develop but he focussed only on t20s.
5) Mo Wasim. By far the weakest chief selector in recent times.

Think Mohammad Wasim was allowed to have his way for too long.

Don't understand how Mohd Wasim can be blamed if Babar had all the powers. If anything one can feel that Mohd Wasim should have had the moral responsibility to resign if he was just a puppet.

He probably had a decent wage and the title of chief selector looks very good on your resume

Mohammad Wasim provided the players to Babar.

In addition to what’s already listed, Ramiz’s handling of the next Test championship fixture list at the ICC was a disaster. That’s one of the most important responsibilities as head of PCB. We landed fewer tests than I think any of the major nations. We have 2 test matches scheduled for 2025 which is unheard of so we’ll be feeling the impacts for a few years to come. He appeared more focused on tri-nation short format tournaments at the expense of test cricket.

Completely ignored “A” team tours as a way to build bench strength. I don’t think any tours happened or were planned under his watch. Again, he was too enamored with the idea of a glittery under 19 tournament to pay attention to other potentially more important initiatives.

We are playing criminally few number of test matches in the next cycle, but is that on wasim khan or rameez?

Mohammad Wasim provided the players to Babar.

Did he have a choice if Ramiz gave Babar the full authority to select the squad of 15-16 and the playing eleven exclusively to Babar?

No thats all Ramiz since they were finalized in hus tenture.

As mentioned above there is a 15 month period where we play just 2 tests

Reads more like a rant by Abdul Majid Bhatti than a factual list of mistakes.

Ridden with conjecture, opinions and mostly masala.

PJL running at a loss, domestic players not being paid their wages on time, not hiring an internationally proven head coach, giving Babar unchecked power, the sackings of NHPC coaches without replacements and the deterioration in Test pitches are all irrefutable facts.

One thing is was good at was making absurd statements:

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/xpxucj" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

The reporter asked him some justified questions on the PJL, Sarfaraz, unpaid wages, India and Ramiz by his rude, evasive demeanor is clearly leading credence to the claims that he was leading the PCB in a dictatorial, my way or the high way attitude where he would not tolerate anyone questioning his decisions. Such an individual should not be appointed as the PCB Chairman or any head of the organization ever again.

Thanks savak for posting that video

Definetly potw .

Sethi has an uphill task to undo the damage done.

I think all of you remember, Rameez Raja made a statement as Chairman of PCB at that time that if India is not coming to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023, than he wont be sending the Pakistani team to World Cup 2023.

India did not travel to Pakistan, and Rameez Raja was also removed as chairman later on. Now he is a commentator, he got a commentator gig for the world cup, and guess what, he is in India.

Why make such statements as Chairman of PCB when you cant follow these threats as an individual?

Ramiz is knowing for making such claims my dude. Its nothing new, he's a fraud of an alanlyst XD.

Why are you mixing things, you cannot commentary as PCB chairman lol. As an individual he has freedom but as a chairman you know how things work due to politics. So, it's bit harsh from you.

I have seen multiple social media posts where Indian fans are mocking/trolling him for this reason.

However I think past is past and we must move on.

I think we should give him a break, he made that statement as a chairman not as a commentator. Now the PCB had decided to sent the team then as a commentator he has all the rights to travel to Bharat.

He was removed way before the Asia cup schedule finalized.

Waseem ripped Raja apart saying that when you get such positions maybe do better dialogue than mix politics

hell no. you sound like a gandhian (not a compliment). forget that. hold the mirror to the shameless hypocrites

This is precisely why it's advisable not to open one's big mouth if they are unable to walk their talk.

'Who will watch the World Cup if Pakistan doesn't play?'

Ramiz Raja is a bit of a Chameleon in other words politician. But I always knew he was merely catering to the audience rather than displaying any sincerity. So I took his comments with a grain of salt.

Cause Pakistanis have forgiving heart. Rameez forgave BCCI and is even doing them a favour by commentating on their shoddily arranged WC.

And the worst part is, he still tries to justify all he did wrong.

The test match pitches, the whitewash by England due to those pathetic pitches and spending millions of dollars on PJL are unpardonable mistakes.

Thanks for the link. Don’t know how I missed it at the time. That is one pathetic interview. Not taking any responsibility, “Next question” when he doesn’t have an answer.

The tone of his answers shows the man is just getting old and he’s losing the plot a little.

i could go on about what a car crash this interview was, but I haven’t got the time.

On his decision to go to India when saying the team shouldn’t - it’s fine for people to argue that this is a personal assignment etc, but it’s not a good look for someone who was so outspoken. There are so many commentary gigs out there, he could have declined this one to save his reputation. It’s not as if he’ll lose future commentary gigs if he didn’t attend this one considering the dearth of Pakistani commentators. All of this just shows bo substance to his weak character

I am a big Imran Khan fan but if he was still in power and Ramiz the PCB chairman, Pakistan would have boycotted the World Cup. This would have costed us millions of dollars and damaged our relationship with the ICC and other boards beyond repair. Would have made cricket just like hockey in this country.

Problem is for his self-interest and false bravado, Ramiz declared India enemy and threatened boycott, he knew this would DAMAGE OUR CRICKET but he only cared about public perception.

So now consider India enemy, but he COVERED IPL 2023 MATCHES ON HIS YOUTUBE. Oxford dictionary should replace the word hypocrisy with Ramiz Raja.

The guy covered IPL 2023 matches on his YouTube. Do you expect any better?

Raja, with his chairmanship, confused everyone. Now people cant figure out if he was a worse chairman or a commentator. For me, he is worse at commentary but I am always open to changing my mind.

He should stick with his YouTube channel and commentary. It is a shame that he doesn't have lots of competition in Pakistan in commentary and we have to listen to him during the Pakistan matches in international events. For me, Bazid is a better choice than him. He has improved a lot as a commentator in recent years.

Some funny remarks by Wasim against Rambo

=====

'Who Was This Genius?' - Wasim Akram Roasts Ramiz Raja

Former Pakistan cricketer, Wasim Akram's incredulous reaction to a radical suggestion by the erstwhile Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja has taken social media by storm.

The clip, filled with disbelief and humour, features veteran batter Azhar Ali unveiling Raja's bold proposition to infuse Test cricket with T20 specialists.

Wasim Akram mocks Ramiz Raja's proposal to infuse T20 gameplay in Tests
The candid video showed Wasim Akram in disbelief as he mockingly inquired about the "genius" behind such an audacious idea. Azhar's confirmation of Raja as the mastermind behind the proposal sent ripples of laughter across the panel.

"Yeh kon the genius (Who was this genius)?" asked Akram.

"Ramiz Raja," said Azhar.

Raja, in a clarion call for innovation during England's tour of Pakistan, had said to Sky Cricket his vision of revamping Test cricket.

By advising then-Test captain Babar Azam to embrace a T20 mindset for the five-day game, inspired by England's ‘Bazball’, Raja aimed to catapult Pakistan cricket into a new era.

His advocacy for a "forced mindset" was a daring gambit to redefine the essence of Test cricket for future generations.

"Like England for example, I suggested to Babar that England are playing the T20 format in a five-day version, so you better pick T20 players here. It's a forced mindset on Pakistan, which I absolutely like. I want the future generation to think of it as a T20 format, like England are playing," said Ramiz during the second Test in Multan.

However, the aftermath of Pakistan's humiliating 3-0 whitewash and the controversial nature of Raja's suggestions resulted in his ousting from the PCB chief's role by the Pakistan government in December 2022, after a tenure of 15 months initiated by former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
