I saw another comment - 'Imagine the smell' by one of his fellow Bradford Bhai Bandhu. I have asked brother Rishwat plenty of times to look into the mirror and let me know what he sees. He never answers that question.

Basically it reeks of generational insecurity. Indian diaspora is considered the most economically successful migrant group in the UK where as Bangladeshis and Pakistanis rank the lowest. This is not me making stuff but a govt data. On top of that Hindus/Sikhs are considered most peaceful minority group without a single blemish. So they go against Indians with racist jibes like curry munchers, head wobbling etc. thinking that will make them look superior. Hahaha

this type of stunt is unlikely to work outside of India as he found out the hard way.

If he wants to behave like this, maybe India is the perfect fit for him.

This is an alternative not a competition. UK is multi cultural cuisine, so no-halaal might be a cuisine option. He is the guy running the business, so if he is not violating a law and has no problem with business results, then it is nobody’s business.

He's no longer running the business, it crashed and failed. Of course how he ran it was indeed his business, and unfortunately for him his no-halal model failed. Maybe he should have gone for vegan cuisine instead with lentil curry as the house special.

The issue isn’t his success or failure or what he should serve in the restaurant, that’s his problem. the issue is radicalized scroungers getting a hissy fit and resorting to mob violence because of his business model.

I’ve never seen a restaurant proudly advertise that it doesn’t serve Halal or Kosher food. Restaurants usually do the opposite, they advertise when they do serve Halal or Kosher.

This might be one of the dumbest business decisions imaginable. But when someone’s thinking is driven more by hatred than by business sense, that kind of logic probably feels perfectly natural, even in a multicultural country.
 
Yes, that is indeed very strange. I rarely see someone proudly advertising they sell only non-Halal or non-Kosher food.

The guy is a freshy paindu who couldn't read the room. He probably watched a few Tommy Robinson videos and like @Rajdeep thought he had his finger on the pulse of London. Tommy has championed the Sikh love jihad campaign, but that was from his own roots as a racist goon.

This gullible Sikh guy probably thought Tommy's friends would all come rushing to his restaurant if he advertised non-halal meat, but in reality the EDL whites only see these types as useful idiots. They wouldn't be seen dead in their establishments.

Maybe muslims kept going into his restaurant expecting halal and he's had to keep turning them away. Tis best to keep a sign outside and give them advance notice.

Here in the US its very rare that Pakistanis visit indian restaurants. Maybe they do it when there are no other options available but mostly Indians keep to indian restaurants and pakistan keep to pakistani places. The difference in cuisine is more distinct now after 70 odd years that we can easily distinguish the two.

No. If you look at the OP, this guy was actually threatened by Khalistanis, his issues were with other Sikhs. My guess is his restaurant was not getting much traction so he has closed it down and is hoping to get more traction via social media as a bootlicker of the white power movement.

I go to Indian restaurants when my "white" friends fancy it otherwise it's if it's desi food then it's Pakistani restaurants...

I should add that even my "white" friends prefer a decent nehari or Karahi ghost at Lahore or Tanyabs then a chicken tikka masala

From Sikh friends I know that many Sikhs prefer not to eat halal meat. There’s an Indian restaurant owned by Sikhs that serves amazing chai and chaat, but I personally avoid their meat dishes, even though when asked they confirm the meat is halal.

That’s why it makes little sense to me, if they were truly against halal meat, why would they serve it and risk discouraging other Indians from coming to their restaurant that is predominantly trying to cater Indians.

Personally, I tend to avoid meat dishes at restaurants owned by Sikhs or Hindus, even if they say the meat is halal, and I’m sure many Muslims in the UK who care about halal likely do the same.

I don't think it's that segregated in the UK. Depends on the city though and the availability of food. Many Pakistanis places don't sell drink though and Indian places do.

However almost all the places have same suppliers and are likely halal. There is few exceptions like this Singh.

Also people asking for proofs, well people have asked for proofs for pehelgam, 26/11, 9/11 et. here, so on that basis, I will be skewed towards the owner’s version of the story and his twitter timeline to beleive that some radical Pakistanis may have attacked his establishment.

He doesn’t need to clarify anything. Muslims who care about eating halal simply ask, “Do you serve halal meat?” If the answer is no, they go somewhere that does. It’s that simple.

Most Muslims also already know that a restaurant owned by Sikhs usually doesn’t serve halal meat.

But that’s the kind of basic thing you’d only know if you actually understood the community you’re talking about.

He claimed that this sardar was driven out of business by radicalised mobs, but when asked for some proof of this couldn't produce anything and threw a hissy fit instead.

How hard would it be to get a report of the incident which backed this guy's claims? Surely the police would have pressed charges, and that would have been reported as well.

No issues, everyone has their own preference. I know many Hindus avoid eating at muslim restaurants as there are stories of them spitting on the food. Though I dont have any such biases...as long as the food is tasty and hygenic, I will eat anywhere

It's different if it is a specific community requirement unlike individual items on the menu. As an indian restaurant, he'd attract a huge amount of subcontinent-origin customers, of which muslims would form a fair chunk ... and expecting halal.

I never visit Indian restaurants generally.

I like Afghan restaurants, Pakistani restaurants, and Bangladeshi restaurants. I also visit one Sri Lankan place; they have spicy and delicious potato rolls.

I prefer eating at Muslim restaurants only

I feel more comfortable knowing the food is prepared according to halal guidelines.

In many other places that simply ‘offer halal,’ you can’t really be sure how it’s handled. They might be using the same grill or cooking area for halal meat as well as pork and other non-halal items, or touching pork and then touching halal meat which defeats the whole purpose for me.

That's a very good point. I agree.

I also buy from Muslim restaurants 90% of the time.

Once in a while, I may visit Mexican stores, Subway etc. I go for fish and veggie options when I visit non-halal joints.

here in subway they change their gloves and wash hands if they know your a Muslim.

only non halal place is go to is Greggs and they have different tongs etc for their non meat items

They change gloves for each customer. It is also the same in Canada.

For example, some customers may not want to eat meat. Some may have allergies. Changing gloves is normal here.

I used to know a tour manager in Kerala and he once told me that Ramiz Raja and his family visited Kerala a long long time back and his wife especially couldn't get enough of the masala doshas along with the chutney and sambaar... not sure if the story is true.

but

South Indian vegetarian food is on another level imo, very tasty... I wished it wasn't as spicy though, I struggle with very spicy food 😪

Romalis have been my favourite since the late 90s. I have it with a lot of other foods: peanut butter, nutella, cheese spreads, prawns, dhal, green peece curry, eggs 😆

My favourite combination has always been freshly cooked Tandoori chicken with Romalis, that pairing is dynamite with 65 is a good combo as well.

South Indians are much friendlier with Pakistanis bro. When I was growing up the north Indians were quite friendly too but when the girls started getting friendly with Pakistani boys that seemed to cause some tension. Despite being a few generations in, plenty of desis still haven't integrated fully into western culture despite the big talk. This Sikh guy with the failed restaurant certainly hasn't.
 
Nobody wants to turn up at this Gyani's little restaurant anyway. We just go there to troll him and give him a headache. I heard the food is awful and unhygeinic, typical of Endian restaurants.
 
People who dont like Idli are cursed. A good soft Idli, smabar and coconut chutney are a match made in heaven. Masala Dosa is close second.
 
I've never understood the point of an Idli, tis as bland as some of the english dishes .. and the spices never penetrate into the interior.

Say NO to Idli. Whereas masala dosas are just a sumptuous treat to the palate 👌
 
I remember when my wife first arrived in the states, I asked her if she wanted to go to an indian restaurant. she agreed. i took her to a south indian restaurant and ordered a dosa with potatoes in it. she did not like it.


we dont have a lot of these dishes in pakistan and i will say this with utmost respect, we just dont have the taste for stuff like idli, dosas, and whatever else. I will eat anything as long as its not filthy or haram but I feel Pakistani cuisine is very different now (or maybe this region always was different from rest of sub-continent)

We did get some flavor of UP and other areas when after partition people moved to punjab and started selling nihari and that sort of meat dishes that were not native to these parts (punjab, sindh, etc)

But if you eat Pakhtoon and Baloch cuisine you will realize what I am trying to say. very very different, and you dont have to acquire that taste. They are mainly meat dishes with low spices and i feel the eastern and southern indian cuisine is all about a lot of spices and not meat focused.
