Taking my 2 youngest kids to their first ever game at Selhurst park and walking a few hundred yards from the stadium a 3 y old shouted to his dad - ‘Look daddy there’s some *****’. Kid obviously learned it at home, I feel like the UK is the most racist country to Pakistanis. At least here in the states we're relatively unknown and kinda exotic.

That’s changing fast now thx to DT..

This is the sort of thing you would have heard when I was a kid growing up in a rough white neighbourhood. Very sad that we are starting to hear it again, but it was never far from the surface if you followed the tabloid press and their very telling use of front page headlines.

Kids are a reflection of their parents teachings. The UK still dreams of repatriating brown people to their country of ethnicity. The kid used the P word after learning it from his parents. Once when a kid called me the same I told him how proud I was to be a P. Also called him by a slang word for white people that shut him up. To such people all brown people are the same so ignorant are they.

I was thinking exactly the same thing today when I was at yard and some very brash neighbours honking their horns

If this was 50 years ago I would have to have a fight with them just for looking at them the wrong way and not being able to speak proper english

Ironically Hollyoaks, a daily weekday soap for incapacitated Uni students and young people waking up from a head injury whilst instagramming after doing their homework, is currently delving into such a strand of a storyline and is probably the only UK fictional show with such a focus on racism on tv.
Hollyoaks

Poor man in the OP. Racism exists and has always been here in the UK but much social and economic change is allowing it to ferment again.

Thing is that white people think they can't be offended or have no slang words amongst coloured people. Shut them up by telling them that's not true. Coloured people are part of the fabric of the UK and we ain't going anywhere. After 200 years of occupying the subcontinent white people are in no position to complain. They just need to accept the facts as bitter as they are.

Are you talking about white people or the english?.

Pardon my ignorance, but why the word P*** is considered a bad word ? Considering its just first four alphabets of "Pakistan", and its very different from other racial slurs like N****.
People all the time call Australians as Aussies, but still Aussie is not considered as a racial slur.

Hostorically, it is a racist slur used in the UK.

Which white people? I don’t know any like that.

Why are some people so shocked to hear this as it still happens in this day and age, especially after the hostile environment for muslims especially Pakistanis in the UK.

Let me try and add some context into this. I have always felt that Football and England is a racist sport. Asians (Indians/Pakistanis/Bangladeshis) have never really been accepted in this sport and culture. Football fans, players and even the pundits in England are not the most educated. Most aspiring white/black and mixed race players lose interest in school by the age of 12-13 and are waiting to be picked up by the local major club academy. The OP tweet guy is being very generous to the 'sport's society' itself in England.

English Rugby fans are not racist, in fact they are probably the most welcoming to british culture. They are usually from good schools, backgrounds and jobs. Cricket is a different feeling all together, too many Asian players especially in London and up north are fully involved in this sport. The slight tones of racism/prejudice against the Asians in cricket is not because of an exclusion in the game but due to an over-eagerness in political matters and interference by the Asians in this sport.

Is it that football in England is racist, or that Asians don't tend to take it seriously enough? How many do you know that will go to all the training sessions, apply for local clubs and city teams? I know there are some out there, but not sure there's a massive appetite like there is for cricket, although I expect this to change in the coming generations. Football in the past was based on battling for long balls in England, it's starting to become a lot more technical now so I think it will appeal to Asian lads more.

Thousands of Asians go to watch their teams play every week in England.

Of course you are going to get the odd fan(s) who are idiots and say something racist or stupid but England is far better than most of Europe. Not sure why this chap felt the need to cry over twitter when he didn't have the guts to approach the father.

Mo Salah's wife was wearing her headscarf yesterday with her daughter playing on the pitch and pretty much all of the 50,000+ fans were cheering them.

I think people who dont go to football matches, shouldnt be making judgment calls on the sport.

Merseyside is all passion. They are the best fans in Englan

I'd day English fans in general are pretty good. You wont see mass racist chanting against players as you see in Serie A, La Liga and other places in the world. Sometimes we dont appreciate what we have here in England ,the people of this land in general are some of the most tolerant and understanding people in the world. Mixed marriages between White and Asians are very common now.

Well to be fair the fellow was going to a football match, if he's taking a kid for the first time to support his team you could understand why he might feel disappointed.

I think he made a big deal out of it, the kid was 3 years old. Insted of ruining his day and his own kids, he should have ignored it or confrotned the father, ranting on twitter is only a form of self harm. However I do hope he continues to go to the football.

He's the club doctor. I don't think he's going to stop going anytime soon. Was originally at Liverpool.

The reason he was probably shocked is because South London is very diverse.

Must have been a knuckledragging Bournemouth fan.

I thought i recognised the face. He is totally over doing it with emotion. He must have travelled to so many various venues with the team so shouldn't be surprised. I assume he was disgusted it was a child and it can be seen as a from of child abuse to bring up kids with such hate towards another race of people.

Welcome to Football.

Today while at work, a Liverpool supporter claimed the best part of failing to win the EPL was when Pep congratulated Liverpool for their efforts. I was like, really? Paying commiserations happens all the time in other sports. What's new?

Football was, is, and will remain a working class sport, thus the Hooligans and racism. No other sport requires persistent anti-racism messages. Imagine seeing one of those *Say no to racism* banners at a cricket, rugby, tennis, Golf, Formula 1 etc events.

I am sure many of you have seen that infamous picture of a child sticking his finger up! [Think he was an Arsenal fan].

Which white people? I don’t know any like that.

The thugs who attend sporting events. They only mess with the vulnerable or those they can intimidate. I am not one of them at all.
