Lord Aleem reveals his Top Gear dream

Good luck to the lad. Would make a refreshing change from an all white all male all middle aged line up

He won't get it because beyond Solihull nobody really knows who he is; plus he isn't white so that's a big problem already.

Interesting but I doubt he'll get it, he's Asian.
They'll probably go for a Black guy this time though to boost ethnic minority (Black) representation.

He's barely out of his teens, the show has thrived on middle aged white guys using cars to alleviate mid-life crisis. How many British viewers would want to watch a young Pakistani lad full of himself showing off on tv? Citizen Khan would be a more realistic pull for the audience.

Everyone will watch Clarkson, May and Hammond on ITV anyway.

Who is this guy? Is he an actual lord or he just calls himself lord?

You can buy a title. I can remember there was some Bengali restaurateur who used to feature in The Sun regularly who called himself a Lord. His gimmick was any customer who could finish his hottest curry didn't have to pay.

I won't and many many people would (all other things being equal) always prefer to watch the same content on BBC than ITV simply because they don't have to put up with ad breaks every 15 minutes.

The key thing that the BBC will want from the new presenter team is relatability and a certain chemistry between the presenters as there was between the three previous gimps.

Having Chris Evans with a token woman and a token 'ethnic' would seem a marketing mans dream for 'relatability' and the 'chemistry' would really be up them and whether they got on well. Given his history with team productions on likes of Big Breakfast and TGI Friday you would expect it is something Chris Evans could pull off.

There was a Romanian friend of a friend of mine who took out a loan and bought himself a little Island out in the middle of nowhere. Appointed himself Lord King Mighty and all sort of other fancy titles and then used it to get into the upper echelon of society. It did open quite a few doors for him.

Hope he gets it. He's a great guy and will be nice seeing a fellow Birmingham Pakistani do well and represent us there.

I record things on the Sky Box and start watching them a bit late, then I can speed through the adverts at 30x.

Hundreds of thousands actually.

I think he'll get the Top Gear gig.

That's nothing; he's incredibly unknown nationally and although he's from our ends I've not heard about him until this thread was made. To put things into perspective, Chris Evans has 2 Million followers.

It would be a bold move if the BBC did because no.1 he is unproven and has no experience presenting and no.2 he's pretty unknown, having said that if he displayed charisma and intelligence in the audition tape then perhaps he has a small chance but it would surprising.

Check his YouTube. He's pretty confident and I'm sure he will handle it.

Really hope he gets it.

Lol at people thinking he's a great guy. Seriously? No wonder why British Pakistanis are even lagging behind Bangladeshis (who were relative late movers to Britain).

His fan base is mostly teenage girls who hope he might marry them 1 day

You can see that by going on his social media accounts, any fans who like him for the cars is kinda buried

Good on him going for the top gear role, but nothing will come out of it as he doesn't bring the right audience in

Those who are generally interested in cars will watch anyway. Broadening the audience to appeal to the non-core audience of women/girls would actually be something reflective of the BBC charter.

Did you watch it because you like watching middle aged men doing daft things ? Presumably you loved Last of The Summer Wine ?

No, they will lose a lot of their regular die hard enthusiasts. People don't watch Top Gear simply because they are interested in cars. In fact if its automotive information one wanted Top Gear would be the last thing to watch.

Top Gear has been one of BBC's most entertaining programms cutting across all age groups, sexes, geographical boundaries etc.....and this was primarily because of the camaraderie between the three hosts and their adventures were entertaining. They tried to replicate it in the US and Australia with nowhere near the success. Others have tried as well. BBC knew what they were doing but couldnt handle Clarkson anymore and the recent cost cuts were even more reason (they are laying of a 1000 people).

And that creature mentioned by the op, whatever he calls himself shouldn't go anywhere near national television.

I hope Chris Harris gets the bbc job, but its highly unlikely as 1. He wont be cheap, 2. He was against Clarkson's firing and 3. Ferrari don't like him.

I actually did love Last of The Summer Wine.. it was amazing.

There was a video floating around few weeks ago of his car showroom in Birmingham being raided by the police. There is definitely something fishy about the source of the money. Earlier there were rumours that his family had won the lottery but he keeps insisting that it is all earned legitimately through hard work.

there will always be suspicions, what u can only really judge on is what these guys project, and i dont see anything negative in it. and theres enough ppl who would jump on a young successful (regardless of backstory) apnaa, think we should support these guys as the more they penetrate the mainstream the easier it is us to control our image in the media, as opposed to a picture painted by others, imho.
