Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana (born 1 August 2000) is a professional cricketer who plays for the Sri Lanka national cricket team in all three formats of the game. He made his international debut for Sri Lanka in September 2021. Regarded as one of the best T20 bowlers in the world, his bowling action resembles that of former Sri Lankan mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis, who coincidentally happened to be his mentor with the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club, whom he has represented in the Sri Lankan domestic game.He is known for bowling spin at high speeds that exceed 100 km/h and for bowling Yorkers by a spinner, which make it harder for batsmen to face. He also shows his capability as a lower-order batsman. Theekshana is considered as one of the best spinners in the T20 format.

Maheesh Theekshana rattles the Indian top order in 3rd T20I 2024 by claiming crucial wickets of Sanju Samson and Rinku Singh so far but can he inflict more damage to let his team claim the first victory in the series.

he bowls with flatter trajectory not much spin he gets at the other end ajantha mendis was a shrp turner of a ball so yes he is god bowler but will take some time to catch mendis.

Mendis introduced carrom ball to world cricket in 2008. Nobody knew what kind of a ball that was. As they got used to it he was found out.

A good bowler but now we see many mystery bowlers in today's era. Soon to be found out by batters around the world.

Maheesh Theekshana said during post match conference:

"For me, it's a confidence-booster as a team. We lost the T20 series 3-0. The whole team was disappointed and we took it as a motivation. Very happy to play the last game and win the series after 1997. It's a huge victory for us and I am really proud to be part of the XI. They (India) usually play on good wickets and small boundaries in India. We knew playing in Premadasa, if there's little bit turn, we can take advantage because we have good spinners."

“Rohit came into bat and he attacked me, Asitha got a good start, came back and got Shubman and then Wellalage was brilliant, Vandersay did a great job ... Hasaranga in the first game, Akila bowled economically in both the games. I wanted to bowl more dot balls. It was a team effort. All the players contributed, that's why we ended up winning 2-0.”

Don't think Theekshana can be compared to Ajantha Mendis.

Mendis had far more variations. Mendis was like Narine.

But, Theekshana is obviously achieving more.

Maheesh Theekshana has gotten an ODI hat-trick today (against New Zealand in 2nd ODI).

Congratulations.

Fantastic hat trick. Kiwis were on their way to a much better score than they got in the 2nd ODI but Theekshan had other plans...

8 overs 44 runs and 4 wicket for him today.
