What's new

Man of the match - Fakhar Zaman or Mohammad Amir?

Fakhar who put Pakistan in the most winnable position. Amir who broke the back of the Indian batting lineup. tough call

Amir.

The wicket was flat but he killed the chase before it could even get going.

Also, he managed to get out the best ODI batsmen in the world twice within the space of two balls.

It will be Fakhar but should of been Amir.

Truly an ATG spell on the flattest of roads, completely screwing India's chase..

Amir because he destroyed the scorching hot IND top order.

BUT, Fakhar is a deserving MOTM.

AMir I was shocked to see the top 3 wickets, dismissed Kholi 2 times!

I went for a quick power nap and when came back, they were already 65 for 5.

Aamer.. no other bowler matched him... he dismissed Rohit, Kohli, Dhawan
Fakhar made 100, but few other batsmen had 50s

Amir has been robbed once - he is not only MoM, should be MoS as well. That game was won in 5 overs!!!!!

Aamer. For sure. Took out the top three batsmen in the Champions Trophy on a flat pitch.

No question Zaman

Amir was brilliant, but Pakistan have other wicket takers

Without Fakhar we may not have gone past 240. No one else could've played that innings!

obviously Zaman

Let me tell you why. He played a glorious innings which took Pakistan to 340ish. And we know if you take your team to 340 you dont lose too often, atleast not in a final.

India where barely going to score 338 even on a good day.

They never gives it to bowers!!!! These matches are played on 300+ pitches & this guy could have defended 150 today !!!!

Fakhar because our bowlers do the job from time to time. Fakhar played like Saeed Anwer, demolished their fast and spin bowlers.

Pakistan were always going to win with 100+ runs after they made 338 runs.

I have full faith in my bowlers and captain.

Mohammad Amir was my man of the match in final.

338 is a big total, but no total is big enough for Kohli and co, but Amir ripped through their top order and rest was just a formality.

Unfortunate for Amir, he was holding this back from all his lifetime... this was written in the stars

Usually the best performances are the most underrated, this is the greatest bowling from a Pakistani in history of its cricket

Was hard to call either way. And honestly I don't think either of them care about the award. It is all about the trophy.

Well played Pakistan and I am an Amir fan and have supported him everywhere after coming back from the ban but if we talk of Kohli's on field conduct etc... Then Amir was not gracious enough today .. He was abusive and if we accept it as aggression then we should not question Kohli ..

Did you see Pandya, how abusive he was? He was acting like a dog had bitten him when he got out.

you comparing jubilation of a bowler with Kohli's conduct.

Fakhar with a performance of his lifetime....

Amir with the bowling performance of a generation....

This performance will be remembered in golden words, like Wasim's spell of 1992

Amir blew India away before they could even get going. The importance of his role today can not be overstated.

Fakhar was the right choice.

Pak wouldn't have got a match winning total without his 100 whereas Pak could have won without Amir's 3 wkts.

Fakhar rightfully got it. He's played the best ODI knock I've seen by a Pakistani batsman and batted India out of the game. Amir was amazing as well

Amir deserved it more than anyone, superb, excellent, outstanding and unbelievable bowling. What bowling lad!!!!

Much as Amir was spectacular, think Fakhar deserved it.

He was given a reprieve and he seized that moment and put the pressure back on India. I've never seen Kohli this quiet in the field as he looked while Fakhar was laying into India.

Azhar Ali too deserves credit for trying his best to beat up the bowlers while Fakhar was struggling initially.

I think Fakhar's fearlessness rubbed off on Hafeez and that gave Pak a total to defend that made them feel confident when they came out to bowl.

Fakhar. Amir killed the match in his first spell, but 339 was always going to be too steep in a final even for India.

Bro today is not the time to discuss this. We can all resume being player supporters tomorrow. For now Just celebrate & make as much ruckus as you can

Amir was better, brilliant bowling front up which destroyed India. Those three wickets he took finished the game for India already when only 9 overs had been played. And they were the three best batsmen in the Indian team including the best in the world. We also have to remember Amir only bowled 6 overs for those three wickets. If he had continued I'm sure he would have got even more, maybe 5 wickets, he was being preserved for the death in case it got that far. He didn't even bowl again after over 11, as he'd finished the game. One of the most devastating displays of LOI bowling I've seen, and it came in a final and he did it on a flat pitch.

Fakhar's century was great, but he got lucky to not get out on 3 due to a no ball, and did quite a few risky shots that on a bad day could have got him out. Terrific innings, but I don't think it had quite the same impact as Amir's performance.

However I'm glad that Fakhar got it over Amir. Has been the better player in this tournament overall, and it meant a lot to him I'm sure considering it's like his 7th international match ever.

To think he wouldn't have even played this tournament had Sharjeel not been out. Shows we probably shouldn't panic so much when we lose players, there's always other options.

Shoud have been amir but it doesn't matter both showed tremendous heart

Pandya give you an indication of what would have happen if india had wickets in hand,on this pitch no target was safe.

Amir

That spell was of the highest quality

He was swinging at 90 miles on a flat wicket

Put a shame to the people who bash him m

Put a shame to those who think India had a better Seam attack

Tbh I think both played exceptionally well, and I don't think he cares! But yes Amir bowled as if he was possessed by the legendary, Wasim Akram. Let's just enjoy this stunning victory over India; in the final of what was a gruelling tournament.
#ThankyouMickey

They gave MoS to a bowler.

However i get what you meant.

Man of tournament or series are usually bowlers. Batsman win you matches, bowlers win you tournament. Strac in last World Cup, Hassan this CT.

Amir had a super spell, like he did in BD T20, this time on flat road in a final. If this is not redemption for him, I don't know what could be... He was pumped, bowling yard faster, swinging and dead accurate. He did not hold anything back today.

One of the best bowling performance by Pakistani bowler in important match, same in WASIM in 1992 final.

I like Pandya, but I won't look too much into his performance. The match was dead and buried and he got some lollypop deliveries by Shadab and Fakhar and he found the middle of the bat. As soon as Pakistan crossed 330, I was 90% convinced that we'd defend the total. Even India does not have the guts to chase a total like that in a world tournament final against a bowling attack that had its tail up. They couldn't do it in the 2015 World Cup Semifinal and they weren't going to do it today.

Fakhar's innings won Pakistan the match, while Amir's spell ensured that we absolutely thrashed them, and there were no moral victories.

He deserved the bashing he got. He was not pitching the ball up like he did today and he lacked the intensity that he had in abundance today.

People need to stop being so sensitive. He will be praised when he does well and he will be criticized when he doesn't. Same goes for every other player, now and forever.

The question to answer is that had Pakistan not had 338 on the board but less, would Indian batsman won the match even after Amir spell or played Amir more cautiously.

I believe so, the platform set by Fakhar was more important than Amir. Amir had the backing of scoreboard pressure where Fakhar had to deal with his pressure.

Fakhar rightly MOM.

Tough call, both should get... Fakhar set the platform for a 300+ score...those who say not fakhar, think about if his wicket wasnt a no-ball the score would be 8-1 and pak would have lost 4 wickets before 120 and then it would have been a scrappy 250 and India even after losing all their top 3 cheaply would have still chased it... Amir for getting 3 tournaments top batsmen inside 5 overs is a match winning performance but i feel it was rightly given to fakhar for making mammoth total in a final which stretched India too far from the trophy...

That Kohli wicket is iconic and will be remembered for at least a decade. The roar when Shadab caught that ball was something else.

All three batsmen were playing Amir 'cautiously' when they got out. One of them practically got out twice in consecutive balls. His spell was pure quality.

On the other hand, Zaman played a streaky innings in the beginning could have gotten out easily.

Remembering this match 5 years from today, fans will talk about the spell and a bynote will be the century.

Not to mention that Amir bowled just 6 overs.

There is valid criticism then there is bashing acting like he is abdur rauf
