Manchester United | 2019/20 Season

Ouch, didnt we beat you?, i think we did

Liverpool are currently far ahead of man utd, and i honestly believe this can continue as i believe is the only manager in todays game who can stay at one club for 10yrs.

I think you beat us in one leg, but that wasnt my point, our team was a wreck we should have lost both legs and got knocked out by PSG, we beat them and still beat you in a leg when our team was falling apart, thats OUCH!

As for LP, continue for how long, they were better than us last season, thats it, dont forget we were runners up season before, these things change in football all the time, a manager staying at a club doesn’t guarantee success, just look what happened with Wenger!

Anyway back to MU:

What a fantastic win, opening the league with a thrashing to Chelsea :hasan2

Haters are going to find a way to hate :)))

AWB and Maguire are such fantastic additions to this defence that we were crying our for. Im really excited for AWB, nothing goes past him, we have been so weak on that right side in the last few years.

I dont know what Periera was doing in the hole, he had an ok game but this position still needs to be filled, we can hope Sanchez steps up this season or give that role to Lingard who is at-least intense in his pressing.

Good peformance by Utd but it was a weak Chelsea team. The return leg will be different in Feb after Chelsea spend hundreds of millions on new players.

Prediction: 5th place finish.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rubbished claims forward Alexis Sanchez has been training with the club's reserves.

Despite Sanchez, 30, struggling for form and fitness since arriving from Arsenal in January 2018, Solskjaer believes the Chilean will "come good".

"It's these stories again that he's been put in the reserves - of course he hasn't," Solskjaer said.

"He's a few weeks behind the rest, but he's very close to being part of it."

Sanchez, who arrived at Old Trafford as part of a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan on a £14m-a-year contract, suffered a hamstring injury while playing for Chile in the Copa America last month, which ruled him out of United's pre-season fixtures and the opening Premier League win over Chelsea.

Solskjaer says Sanchez, who has scored five goals for United in 31 appearances, is "such a professional" who "works really hard" in training, adding he expects the former Barcelona man to play a significant part in his side's attack this season.

"We don't have the biggest forward line in numbers, so Alexis might end up playing a lot more games than you expect," the Norwegian, 46, said.

"We expect him to come good at this club. He's quality."

United's next match is against next Wolves in the Premier League on Monday at 20:00 BST.

I really don't want Sanchez to leave. Ole Gunner said on Friday Sanchez is part of united's plans

Wplves 1-1 Man Utd

Dominated the first half but were very poor in the second esp missing a penalty.

Wolves fought hard and deserved the draw.

Wont be an easy season for both teams.

Sanchez on his way to Inter Milan it seems.

United look ok but lacking a top-class striker at the moment.

Sanchez on his way to Inter Milan it seems.

United look ok but lacking a top-class striker at the moment.

There is nothing a top class striker would have changed.

We are lacking a CM and a no.10.

Lingard for all his energy and pressing becomes useless because he cant finish or pick out a killer pass which is vital for his position, he missed two sitters when the game was at 1-0 and could have ended the game there.

Mctominay is doing very well, but when playing along side Pogba he gets exposed as any CM would, we should have bought a CM and moved Pogba into the hole.

Manchester United's Harry Maguire has called on social media companies to "stop these pathetic trolls" after his team-mate Paul Pogba was racially abused online after missing a penalty.

Pogba had a second-half penalty saved in the 1-1 draw with Wolves on Monday.

The 26-year-old is the third player in a week to be racially abused on social media following a penalty miss.

Another United player, Marcus Rashford, also expressed support for the France midfielder, saying "enough now".

"Manchester United is a family. Paul Pogba is a huge part of that family. You attack him you attack us all," England forward Rashford said on Twitter.

United said they are "working to identify" those responsible for the racist abuse directed at record-signing Pogba.

"The individuals who expressed these views do not represent the values of our great club and it is encouraging to see the vast majority of our fans condemn this on social media also," read a United statement.

"Manchester United has zero tolerance of any form of racism or discrimination and a long-standing commitment to campaigning against it through our #AllRedAllEqual initiative.

"We will work to identify the few involved in these incidents and take the strongest course of action available to us. We also encourage social media companies to take action in these cases."

England centre-back Maguire also said he was "disgusted" by the abuse aimed at Pogba and suggested that social media users should have to verify their identity before opening an account.

England women's manager Phil Neville, the former United player and coach, suggested footballers should "boycott" social media in order to send a "powerful message" that such abuse is not acceptable.

"It's not going away," he said. "We need to take drastic measures in the football community."

Sports minister Nigel Adams added: "The football season is only a few weeks old and yet we've already witnessed sickening examples of racist abuse against players.

"We have been clear that social media companies must do more and the government will hold them to account."

In July, football's anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out published a report that stated incidents of racist abuse increased by 43% last season, with 274 cases compared to 192 the previous season.

Following the abuse aimed at Pogba, the body said: "The number of posts such as these since the start of the season further highlights how discriminatory abuse online is out of control."

It called the messages "unwarranted and vile racist abuse" and added "without immediate and the strongest possible action these cowardly acts will continue to grow".

Kick It Out's head of development Troy Townsend said those being "allowed to spout targeted racial hatred" were "festering in numbers due to lack of accountability and action".

He added: "They are not all bots."

Last week, Chelsea condemned "abhorrent posts" aimed at Tammy Abraham after his decisive penalty miss in the Super Cup against Liverpool.

Blues boss Frank Lampard said he was "disgusted" by the abuse aimed at the 21-year-old England forward, and like Maguire, called on social media companies to do more to stop players being targeted.

Then on Sunday, Reading striker Yakou Meite called out racist abuse sent to him social media after he had a spot-kick saved.

Ivory Coast forward Meite, 23, came on as a substitute against Cardiff and missed a 91st-minute penalty.

Others fans quickly condemned the tweets containing racist abuse that were sent to Pogba - who won the penalty he then missed - shortly after full-time at Molineux on Monday.

Some tweets were later deleted while several accounts appeared to have been taken down.

Twitter's terms and conditions say it "takes action against behaviour that targets individuals with hateful conduct".

Manchester United and Inter Milan are yet to reach an agreement over a deal for forward Alexis Sanchez.

The Serie A side were hoping to find out if they had a chance of signing Sanchez, initially on loan, by the middle of this week.

But 30-year-old Sanchez's £390,000-a-week salary is proving to be problematic as Inter are only prepared to pay less than half of the amount.

United view this offer as unacceptable, while Sanchez himself wants to leave.

Twitter to meet Man Utd and Kick It Out over Pogba racist abuse
The former Barcelona and Arsenal player is looking to link up again with his friend and former United striker Romelu Lukaku - but he is thought to be loath to accept the kind of significant wage cut that would make the move easier to complete.

Inter remain keen on the Chile forward, who has had a hugely disappointing time at Old Trafford, scoring just five goals in a season-and-a-half. Sanchez scored as many times for his country at the Copa America this summer as he did through the entire 2018-19 campaign.

If Inter fail to significantly increase their figure by the time the European transfer deadline closes on 2 September, Sanchez will remain at Old Trafford until at least January.

Unless United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a change of heart, Sanchez, who played alongside Matteo Darmian, Chris Smalling and Phil Jones in a closed doors friendly against Sheffield United on Tuesday, is only likely to be involved in United's Carabao Cup and Europa League campaigns this season.

Crystal Palace stunned Manchester United as Patrick van Aanholt scored an injury-time winner to record their first victory at Old Trafford since 1989.

Full-back Van Aanholt netted in the 93rd minute, smashing in as the ball broke loose following Wilfried Zaha's burst forward.

Daniel James thought he had rescued a point for United when he curled in a delightful equaliser in the 89th minute following neat build-up from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

But Rashford will rue striking the post from the penalty spot earlier in the second period - the second spot-kick the Red Devils have missed this week after Paul Pogba had one saved in the 1-1 draw at Wolves on Monday.

Jordan Ayew had scored the opener in the first half against the run of play, latching on to Jeffrey Schlupp's flick-on and coolly converting Palace's first goal of the campaign, before the late drama.

Pogba received racist abuse on social media after his miss from the spot at Molineux.

United released a statement condemning the abuse, while fans brought an anti-racism flag into the stadium and sang "there's only one Paul Pogba" to show they were behind the France midfielder.

However, a nasty minority of the tweets that followed Rashford's miss showed the issue remains.

The England striker's failure from the spot formed part of a bad day for United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The club paid a collective £130m this summer for defenders Harry Maguire and Wan-Bissaka - but neither covered round the back of centre-back Victor Lindelof in the lead-up to Palace's opener, so when the Swede lost out to Schlupp as they challenged for goalkeeper Vicente Guaita's clearance, Ayew was able to race clear of the United defence and finish.

James was Solskjaer's third summer signing. The Welshman is having a major impact and his curling shot to equalise was a brilliant effort.

However, for the second game running, the winger was booked for diving - even if the decision from referee Paul Tierney looked harsh.

Dream debut for Cahill
It was a sweet day for Crystal Palace's veteran defender Gary Cahill.

Playing at Old Trafford in the Premier League for his fourth different club, Cahill was celebrating his first win.

He made only two league appearances for Chelsea last season, so the 33-year-old could be forgiven an element of rustiness, although it was pure pace from Martial that caused the centre-back to drag the forward down as the hosts searched for a quick equaliser.

Cahill could easily have been sent off. Instead, he remained on the pitch and used his experience to steer Palace to an unexpected victory.

Eagles manager Roy Hodgson is too experienced to get carried away by one game - but given his side were yet to score this season and had lost five of their past six visits to Old Trafford, the the former England boss surely cannot have travelled with much confidence.

But they now sit level with United on points, and with Cahill easing himself in after his summer move from Chelsea, Hodgson could have one of the season's best free transfers at their disposal.

Palace break records - the stats
Manchester United have won only one of their past nine matches, scoring just eight goals and conceding 16.
Palace's Van Aanholt became only the second player to score a 90th-minute winner against United in the Premier League after Thierry Henry for Arsenal in January 2007, and the first to do so at Old Trafford.
Crystal Palace earned their first win over Manchester United in the Premier League in their 21st meeting in the competition, and their first in the league since May 1991 (3-0 at Selhurst Park).
United are only the second team to win a penalty in each of their first three matches of a Premier League season, after Chelsea in 2012-13. However, the Blues scored all three of theirs while the Red Devils have missed two.
Since the start of last season, Crystal Palace have earned 60% of their points in the league in away games (32 out of 53), more than any other side.

James is the seventh Manchester United player to score in his first two Premier League appearances at Old Trafford for the club.
Ayew's opener for Crystal Palace came from their first shot and first touch in the opposition's box.
Rashford's long-range effort in the 58th minute was the latest United have attempted their first shot on target of a Premier League game at Old Trafford since April 2017 against West Brom (67th minute).

What a horrible performance and result. A continuation from last season. All the delusional United fans were going gaga after the first game which was against a poor Chelsea side. But I am one of the few sane United fans who knew that Chelsea result didn't mean anything and that we would struggle this season.

This is the worst United team that I have seen in my lifetime. So many players who aren't good enough. Shaw is a rubbish left back. Trashford isn't good enough to be the main striker. Lingard is crap. McTominay isn't good enough. Mata is past it. Young was never good enough. And the biggest problem is that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a rubbish manager. He flopped at Cardiff, yet our delusional board thinks that he can be a success at United. He should have been sacked at the end of last season.

Forget top 4, I doubt United will even finish in the top 6.

Mctominay was one of the only players who put a BIG shift in today, he covers alot of ground due to the inability of Pogba to track back, to blame him for the loss does not make you a sane fan! delusion is someone who blames everything without looking at the real problem.

Secondly, Rashford was not the main striker today nor was he in the last 2 games, it was Martial - shows who is the sane fan and deluisonal and even on there bad days they are still better than Lukaku who you were backing and a complete liability in modern football.

We were crying out for creativity all throughout last season, lost 2 MF and were not replaced.

How do you explain controlling a game with 70% + possession and only getting 3 shots on target? our frontline is starved of service.

i agree with Lingard, his is the position that is not connecting the MF with the frontline because he is poor playmaker, pogba is the only one adding creativity in the team.

MU are past blaming the manager, when we had two of the greatest managers who gave the worst ever performance here, its time to look at the facts and that the board need to address the weaknesses in the squad.

Dybala, Pepe, Bruno, nDombelle, Lo Celso, Tielesman, Madison were all available in the summer and would have made a world of difference to the MF yet we didn't sign any of them or anyone in that position.

Now we can only keep Sanchez and hope he fills that void or i will give andre gomez a chance ahead of Lingard.

We lost at home to Palace yet this idiot OGS is in favour of selling Sanchez despite no replacement for him or Lukaku.

United are just a laughing stock these days

Daniel James: Man Utd Winger 'unlucky' to be booked for diving - Solskjaer

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fears winger Daniel James will get a reputation for diving after a second booking in as many games.

Cautioned for simulation at Wolves on Monday, James was again punished after he went down under a challenge from James McArthur in United's 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace .

When asked if James, 21, was getting a reputation, Solskjaer said: "Yes. That is what you do get.

"That is why I raise it here."

Solskjaer, speaking in the post-match news conference, said he feels both cards were unjust, stating James is an 'honest' player who is more prone to falling because he is running at speed.

"At that pace, a touch or a nudge will be enough for him to fall," said the Norwegian following referee Paul Tierney's decision during United's surprise Old Trafford loss.

"I am 100% sure there is contact between Dan and their defender. If you look at the video, there is contact and [there was in] the Wolves game. He has been unlucky. Neither yellow card should have stood."

Neither decision fitted the criteria for a VAR review.

Solskjaer has spoken in the past about his support for the new video refereeing system, providing decisions are made quickly and accurately.

However, he felt let down at Old Trafford.

Like the James incident, Gary Cahill's first-half foul on United forward Anthony Martial happened outside the penalty area.

However, given Solskjaer thought the former England man was the last defender, he felt Cahill should have been dismissed.

"He is clear through on goal, one-on-one and it stops a goalscoring opportunity," added the United manager. "There is no doubt."

Solskjaer thought there was no question either that Martin Kelly fouled both Martial and Marcus Rashford in the box during the second half but neither incident brought the penalty he felt should have been the outcome.

"Martial's was a nailed-on penalty," he said. "He will not slip if it didn't have a 100kg central defender on his shoulder.

"VAR has let the referee's decision be a subjective ones. I also think it was a penalty for Marcus when he runs and gets pulled down a little bit.

"When the referee sees it again, he will know he has not had the best of games."
'Technology has taken away some of the feeling' - Hodgson

Unsurprisingly, Palace manager Roy Hodgson did not share Solskjaer's sentiments, preferring to use his own 'feeling' about the controversial decisions, rather than the use of VAR.

He said: "I see things from a football point of view, the fans' perspective, or VAR, where you look at it 50 times.

"The penalty was a penalty, I didn't need VAR for that. None of the others were and I didn't think Gary Cahill's challenge was a red card.

"Unfortunately, technology has taken away some of the feeling people like myself or Sir Alex Ferguson have for the game."

Manchester United star Luke Shaw set for five weeks out with hamstring injury

Manchester United star Luke Shaw is expected to be out for up to five weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace. Shaw pulled up shortly after Jordan Ayew’s opening goal and had to be replaced by Ashley Young as Patrick van Aanholt went on to secure a 2-1 win for Palace with a late strike at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils will have been sweating over the injury considering Diogo Dalot – one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s few options at left-back – is also currently sidelined. According to The Daily Mail, scans have shown that Shaw will be out for around five weeks. This would rule defender out of United’s upcoming clashes with Southampton, Leicester, West Ham and Arsenal.

Asked about Shaw’s injury after the final whistle, Solskjaer replied: ‘We will do the scans tomorrow but he felt something in his hamstring. ‘Hopefully he won’t be too bad and will be back for Southampton.’

Anthony Martial also suffered a thigh problem against Palace and United are waiting for the results of scans. However, it’s understood the club are optimistic that Martial’s injury is not as severe as first feared and the forward will likely return to training over the coming days.

Solskjaer will be hoping Martial returns to full fitness ahead of this weekend’s trip to Southampton, where United will be desperate to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat. Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah remain on the sidelines with knee injuries.

This season should be a free hit, we need to take the Europa route to CL qualification.
OGS should get another couple of windows.
I'm fine with our first choice back 5, so that will get better with mctominay in front as they play more ( although the first goal was a shocker)

Nev’s Utd Verdict: Patience is key

Sky Sports Football pundit insists United are 'four or five' transfer windows away from competing with Liverpool and Manchester City

Gary Neville has called for patience at Manchester United in the wake of their defeat to Crystal Palace, saying there is no "shortcut" back to the top.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bemoaned Manchester United's second penalty miss of the week as his side fell to a shock 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Having been held to a draw at Wolves when Paul Pogba failed to convert, Marcus Rashford's second-half spot-kick hit the inside of the post before Palace claimed their first Premier League win over United.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, Neville said: "I think United are going to have moments like that in this period, there is going to be pain and there are going to be defeats that you can't quite explain. Beating Chelsea emphatically on the first day, playing well at Wolves and could've won the game. Then all of a sudden, you're up against Crystal Palace and you lose at home - it's quite mystifying.

"They're the type of results you get when you're trying to develop and change and transition out of one culture to another.

"All Man United have to do is remain patient and stick to what they're doing."

This is Solskjaer's first full season in charge of United, spending over £140m in the summer to recruit Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James.

Solskjaer is looking to build with youth and enthusiasm at the heart of the philosophy following on from some expensive big-name signings not working out at Old Trafford.

Neville added: "The most important thing about the transfer window for United and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is that they don't make mistakes, not that they do loads of business, but it's about making sure they have the right type of players.

"It may seem like too far into the distance but I would suggest four or five transfer windows to get things absolutely right and get back to the type of squad he would want to challenge these Liverpool and Man City teams. I've said before, he's got to be ready, not at the end of this season, not next season, but the one after, to challenge for the Premier League title.

"Potentially when Pep Guardiola has left Man City, or Liverpool have had another round of recruitment and another set of players in...Ole has got to be ready to pounce. It's a long term thing, there's not going to be quick fix or magic wand from any manager. United have tried David Moyes, they've tried Louis van Gaal, they've tried Jose Mourinho, all proven and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is going down the long road, not the quick path.

"There's no shortcut, there never is, and for me, it's now about making it through these difficult moments, like losing to Crystal Palace and you feel like the world is going to fall in that but people must remain patient.

"I want to see the nonsense go, the speculation that players want to go, I want to see the disciplinary issues or the little ***-for-tat stuff over the last two or three years where there have been fall-outs, I want to see that go and the leaks. I want to see a team building slowly."

This is what i had been saying all along, brilliant article for once in DM

United's fans had seen their side enjoy 71 per cent possession yet fire off just three shots on target, the first of which didn't arrive until the 58th minute.

In the end, United's lack of a cutting edge got what it deserved - an unexpected 2-1 defeat that well and truly punctured any early season feel-good factor created by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

With a forward line of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Dan James, this United team is blessed with blistering speed going forward.

That worked a treat in their season-opening 4-0 win over Chelsea, who came to Old Trafford to attack but left themselves vulnerable to United's speedy counter-attacks.

But confronted with opposition in Palace who set up to defend deep and keep United at arm's length, they sorely missed a player who could pick an incisive pass.

With hindsight, United may have pushed a little harder to sign a defence-splitting passer during the summer but prioritised their defence and attack instead.

So with another hard-to-break-down team awaiting them this Saturday in the shape of Southampton, Solskjaer will have to make do with a tactical adjustment in midfield.

This was replicated against Palace but it soon became apparent that United had become very reliant on the individual runs of their attacking speedsters to create chances.

With Palace sitting back, Rashford, Martial and James found themselves running into cul-de-sacs rather than along highways.

What United were crying out for was a lock-picker to slide passes in behind the Palace back line whenever these quicker players made forward runs.

the Frenchman was burdened by the duties of his deeper station alongside McTominay and couldn't fully commit to the attack.

He did try and play as far forward as possible but it was ultimately his dwelling on the ball, inviting a tackle from Christian Benteke, that led to Patrick van Aanholt's injury time winner.

Against the likes of Palace - and Southampton - maybe it would be better to position Pogba further forward alongside Lingard in an advanced midfield four behind Martial up front.

If Pogba knew that his only job was to pass and create, rather than having to cover, he could even improve on the already impressive 55 chances he created last season.

It would place a greater burden on McTominay, of course, but a back line that looked significantly stronger for the summer acquisition of Harry Maguire should be able to cope against most teams.

This 4-1-4-1 would still enable Rashford and James to do their thing out wide, but United would carry the additional threat in the middle as well.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...midfield-conundrum-Crystal-Palace-defeat.html

---------

if ole wants to keep 4-2-3-1, then he should just use it in the big games where other teams attack and hit them on the counter but when teams park the bus we become useless.
so we should be changing it to 4-1-4-1 with pogba higher up the pitch to create our chances, wereas in other games he can play deeper.

Inter Milan have agreed a loan deal to sign forward Alexis Sanchez from Manchester United.

Inter boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign Sanchez before the European transfer window closes on Monday.

If a deal goes through, Sanchez will link up with ex-United team-mate Romelu Lukaku, the striker having joined the Serie A club for £74m this summer.

However, Inter have not agreed an option to buy Sanchez at the end of the loan agreement.

United's highest earner, Sanchez is thought to earn around £400,000 a week, a figure way outside of Inter's current pay structure.

It has been suggested United may subsidise his salary as part of a deal and last week Inter offered to pay £150,000 of Sanchez's weekly wages, but United wanted more.

Sanchez has had a disastrous 19 months at Old Trafford since leaving Emirates Stadium in January 2018, scoring just five times in 45 appearances.

He scored twice last season and only once in the Premier League and, should he have stayed at the club, would have predominantly played in the Europa League and Carabao Cup.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to give more game time to teenage forward Mason Greenwood, who has made three substitute appearances so far this season.

everything you say is based on jealousy just looks at the facts and how much time you spend on this thread, what are you a closet MU fan :))) or a complete jealous usless soul who cant take the facts, it can only be one of them,

As for OT it just shows your complete jealousy and hatred when you compare a scapyard like anfield to the theatre of dreams, one of the most elite football stadiums on the planet, anfield is a toilet compared to OT, only a blind person could compare them, your stadium is rubbish its not even in the top 10 in this country son. OT is always packed, instead of lies show me evidence or pictures where OT was empty at the start of any CL or league game, if you cant stop making things up because its all you can do, just lie like a jelous kid.

i dont go on loserpoo sites because there hopeless filled with jelous people like you living in the past, if i wanted to i would be on the losepoo thread on this forum, why do i have to go on another site?

and no its not me begging you to leave, im loving it here, seeing a jealous loserpoo fan full of hate - im loving it, please dont stop and keep it coming and thanks to livening it up here rather than keeping it dead like the loserpoo thread. :)))

dont give me rubbish like people spend hours, because you seem to spend all your available mins that mummy gives to you on this thread :))) you cant hide from the facts, all one has to do is go to your profile and check it seems you only come to this forum for this thread :)))

You keep bringing up rubbish about us, yet you seem to have dedicated every single minute of your living existance to hate MU, i guess this is what the legend Sir Alex Ferguson done to your loserpoo fans brains and completely damaged them.

You see I am a busy man and was seeing the world over the past few weeks enjoying seeing you spanked by Palace at home and drawing at Wolves!! I am not obsessed with this thread like you are with nothing else to do still living with Mummy and Daddy!!:rp I reply when I can letting you wait for me that is the beauty off it! I am sure you have been watching your side missing penalties as well where you are already well behind us in the league:inti We are now undisputed champs of Europe after putting Chelsea in their place where as you are nothing!

Why would I be jealous of a loser side like Man Utd?? It is obvious that you spend all your time at home waiting for my replies coz you have no friends and no social life!! Petro your angry, just admit it, and calm down, no Dybala, it hurts, you have lingaard- you might believe they are equal, but we dont.

Look LFC are doing great, you said many time it will only take 5 years to come back - its past that and it looks like it will be more than 10yrs - because of city

He is just jealous of Liverpool's great Football style and angry at his own team of overpaid flops! There new signings won't help them much either and up forward with the departure off Lakaku and Sanchez it appears a complete lack of options. His comments full of anger and frustration are here for all to see hence his zillion :))) in every post hoping that people won't be able to tell. He says that Liverpool have never won the EPL yet tells us how Man Utd have won the same number of Champions League titles as Liverpool ignoring our old European Cup wins. Well keeping this logic in mind Liverpool won the old Division one many times as well. No top player wants to sign for a third rate side playing in the Europa League, Man Utd can't even sign Dybala's boot!:27:

Are you still alive :))) clearly your obsession with MU will never end - yes you have a great life thats why you are way more active on this thread then your own club :))), heck it seems you post in here more than any other thread, hilarious.

..and you talk about spending time at home and smiles, yet your whole post is full of them and off the net by 9pm which shows who needs to go school and lives with mummy and daddy.

You being obsessed here exposes you more then anything else, your whole posts point to jealousy and as for anxienty its you having panic attacks sitting on a rival thread more then any others, worse thing is your hardly post in your own :))) then fill your post with smiles and complain about mine. lol

I dont need to jealous of a club which hasnt won the EPL ever, heck i dont even need to spend a single minute of my valuable time on any of your sites or threads because im not a loner or loser like you without a life.

..and dont complain about personal attacks kid or deleted posts which i still dont know what your referring too, i only respond to your childish attacks which continue to prove your just a school kid living with mummy who is obsessed with MU more then there own club.

Coming on to your delusions about past and present, epl is the present, its the league we are referring too, even if you talk about last 5 years you only have a single CL only from last season, yet you go on like you have set the world on fire,

As for this season, dont let the happiness now, spoil you a year later, we are only 3 games in and you are a long way competing against city no matter what losepoo fans say, and dont get carried away with our loss noboddy spanked us we lost by a goal in injury time after controlling the game, we are obviously rebuilding and have to iron out the weaknesses.

As for your rant on anfield being an opinion, then its not, you just need to look at pictures of it and compare it to old trafford, YOUR STADIUM IS RUBBISH SON, only a blind person can compare it to the threatre of dreams, like i said your stadium isnt even in top 5 in uk, it defiantly is a toilet box.

Post me proof that i visit loserpoo sites otherwise this is just another of your delusions which you have by being obsessed with us. Your obsession with MU is clearly taking a major toll on your well being which is clearly evident. What you need is a life which you may get when you become older but you need to so something about your obsession with MU as its clearly ruined your life, i now feel sorry for you.

as for Lukaku and Sanchez then ROFL,

The only thing people can tell is how obsessed you are with MU that this is the only thread you are actually active on. hilarious.

Matteo Darmian: Manchester United defender poised for Old Trafford exit

Matteo Darmian may leave Manchester United in the coming days with the club likely to offload a defender before Monday's European transfer deadline.

United have received an inquiry from an unnamed club for the 29-year-old, who arrived from Torino for £12.7m in 2015.

Darmian has played only 13 times since December 2017 and his contract is due to expire next year.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to let Darmian leave, something the Italian wanted 12 months ago.

England defender Chris Smalling and Argentina's Marcos Rojo are other United players with question marks over their futures.

Italian side Roma are interested in Smalling, 29, but despite reports in Italy that a deal has been done, it is not certain the mooted loan move will be concluded.

Like Darmian and Smalling, Rojo has played no part in United's opening three Premier League games.

Solskjaer has seven central defenders in his squad, although Eric Bailly is out until the end of December after having knee surgery.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have confirmed forward Anthony Martial and defender Luke Shaw will miss Saturday's Premier League game at Southampton.

Both players were injured in Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Shaw was substituted after suffering a hamstring injury. Martial reported a thigh problem after the game.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has travelled to Italy to finalise a loan move to Serie A side Roma, says boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Premier League club have reportedly agreed a season-long deal with Roma paying a fee of £2.7m.

Smalling, 29, joined United from Fulham in 2010 and extended his contract at Old Trafford to 2022 in December.

"This opportunity for Chris has come up in the last couple of days," said Solskjaer on Friday.

"We've got six fit centre-backs. I couldn't promise him regular football."

Roma sold Greece centre-back Konstantinos Manolas to Napoli for £32m this summer.

Smalling made 34 appearances last season but is now on the fringes of the squad, with fellow England defender Harry Maguire - an £80m summer signing - and Sweden international Victor Lindelof established as the first-choice centre-back partnership.

Solskjaer said Marcos Rojo, who has been linked with AC Milan, Marseille and Monaco, is "staying definitely", along with fellow centre-backs Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe.

"We've got a squad now that's less in numbers but still big enough and strong enough to have coverage in all positions," added Solskjaer, who also confirmed Italian right-back Matteo Darmian is likely to be returning to his homeland.

Thank You Serie A :)))

Cape Town - Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba 'regrets' his decision not to force a move away from Old Trafford in the off-season, according to reports.

The 26-year-old has been the subject of intense speculation over the summer, with his openness about a desire for a new challenge elsewhere compounded by comments from his agent Mino Raiola.

But unlike Romelu Lukaku, Pogba knuckled down during pre-season - despite interest from Real Madrid - and has provided two assists in United's first three Premier League matches.

However, a report in Spanish publication AS claims Pogba now 'regrets' his decision to keep quiet this summer and wishes he had forced a move.

Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded with Marca Lee for his successful football career and his sporting excellence on Monday. Ronaldo joined the likes of Michael Jordan, Pele, Usain Bolt, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Lionel Messi among others. The Po...

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane 'still hopes that Madrid will make a final effort for Pogba in the remaining four days of the market' despite the newspaper acknowledging only a 'miracle' could make a deal happen now.

The report adds that Pogba even feels 'isolated' in the United dressing room following the departure of Lukaku to Inter Milan and 'has been losing support' of his team-mates.

Man Utd already seeking crumbs of comfort after disappointing draw at Southampton

Manchester United are already looking for shafts of light in the dark, four games into the new Premier League season - thankfully Daniel James is shining brightly in the gloom.

While it is far too early to make any definitive judgement on the latest Old Trafford transition, another mediocre display in the 1-1 draw at Southampton pushed the optimism of the opening-day romp against Chelsea even further into the background.

The 4-0 win is United's only victory in those first four games, since when they have cast aside winning positions at Wolves and Southampton, and lost at home to Crystal Palace.

Hardly fixtures from the high end of the Premier League and five points is a very average return for what looks like a very average Manchester United team.

Solskjaer's shocking end to last season was airbrushed away in the summer amid talk of feelgood factors, increased fitness, new brooms sweeping clean and some expensive arrivals.

And then, after Chelsea, reality has kicked back in.

This Manchester United side does not even bear consideration and comparison set against Manchester City and Liverpool. They occupy a different world.

This is already a season where Manchester United will have to aim for a place in the Premier League's top four and you would not risk a lot of money on them being good enough to achieve it.

United have won three of their last 16 games. They have not won away from Old Trafford since that unlikely victory at Paris St Germain in the Champions League in March. They are winless in eight away matches, drawing three and losing five, which is their worst run since going nine without a win between April and November 2014.

The tally of five points in their opening four Premier League games is their worst since they started they 1992/93 season with four points.

They may be elite in name at home and abroad, but it will be a long way before the actions of this team can match those words.

United had a measure of control at the interval at St Mary's but conceded it far too easily to Southampton, allowing the giant figure of Jannik Vestergaard to draw Saints level after James' brilliant opener following a period of pressure.

Paul Pogba had one of those dreadful days that frustrate so many Manchester United fans while Marcus Rashford was so poor it was only the desperate need for a winner that kept him on the pitch when changes were made.

Victor Lindelof had an uncomfortable 90 minutes and was beaten in the air far too easily for Vestergaard's leveller.

It was not a performance that would make any United fans yearn for the return of expensive failures Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez, shunted off to Inter Milan permanently and on loan respectively, but there was no question they lacked a killer touch - especially given the number of crosses that flew unattended across goal.

What the departures, along with Chris Smalling's loan move to AS Roma on loan, do is highlight that United's squad is thin and does not look robust enough when faced with the twin threats of injury and loss of form.

Solskjaer faces a huge job to get United even within touching distance of Manchester City and Liverpool, while threats will come from elsewhere as they try to make the top four.

At this stage, little convincing evidence has been produced that they are any nearer than last season and the manager still has much to prove.

Their next group of fixtures are certainly not any easier than those they have had so far, as they play Leicester City at Old Trafford, West Ham United away then Arsenal back at home.

Solskjaer and United are left looking for crumbs from results like this - and this is why attention will grow on the likes of 21-year-olds James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka to post the signposts to that brighter future.

James still has the erratic touch of youth but what raw materials are here for Manchester United to work with. The danger now is that too much is expected too soon.

He scored a goal here that was a thing of beauty. The threat was instant when he received Scott McTominay's pass in the 10th minute, taking advantage of an invitation inside on to his right foot before firing a magnificent rising drive past Angus Gunn into the top corner.

James had two other attempts punched clear by Gunn and sent several dangerous crosses into the box that failed to draw a final touch.

And when placed in the context of Sanchez's departure, the strength of his early impact is clear.

James has now equalled Sanchez's Manchester United Premier League goal tally after just four games. He has three goals while it took the Chilean 45 appearances to do the same. He has also scored with each of his first three shots on target in the league.

He was also United's biggest threat with four shots on target - no other player had more than one.

This Welsh youngster, looking a bargain at £15m from Swansea City, is already carrying a heavy burden of responsibility but looks comfortable with its weight.

It is, however, a sign of failings and flaws elsewhere that a young man plucked from the Championship for a relatively low fee is suddenly carrying so many of Manchester United's hopes.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks a sound buy for the future but as always, United's - and Solskjaer's need - is now.

James has been the biggest plus for Manchester United in these opening weeks, having already been taken to the hearts of supporters who have re-written the song about his great fellow countryman and predecessor Ryan Giggs tearing defences apart to suit the new boy.

And on this average evidence, this may be a season where United and their supporters will snatch gratefully at every positive sign they can.

This season is gonna be very interesting. Need to keep in toucjing distance of arsenal and an eye on Leicester.
I just don't see Chelsea getting into top 4 with the champs LGE on

i think we will get top 3 - unlike arsenal or spurs, we have actually looked good despite not getting the results, we just lacked creativity and a killer instinct to finish.

we just need to sort out the formation - pogba is not a deep MF and lingard should not be starting games, that is heavily costing us right now as well as de geas form.

We can not go into every match setup as a counter attacking team, it worked against chelsea because they attacked us, as teams sit back we start struggling.

Over the top prediction imo. For Man Utd to finish 3rd it will need Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs to play pretty average for the whole season.

Utd dont have a goals in the team and have a manager who himself is learning the trade.

if we stick with the same formation then yes we will be in trouble because it simply doesnt suit us or the players, because there is no creativity so no goals despite controlling 70% of the possession.

however with a simple tweak in the formation, i see a completely different team, because once pogba is around the box the threat levels increase by so much more.

I watched some of the game v saints and Pogba didn't seem fired up for it. He was giving away the ball at times. I agree Pogba should be just behind the front players, he is a great player if used correctly. The problem of your strikers still remains. Imo you need an out and out goalscorers such as the likes of Cole, Ruud etc. Rashford has been poor this season so far.

pogba giving the ball away is nothing new, hes been doing it all the time, the reason why he fell out with jose was because he was playing deep, ole came and unleashed him, then he put the shackles back on which is quite weird.

any team would suffer with pogba playing deep because he is disposed quite easily, however play him in the final third and he destroys the opposition.

Rashford had an off day at the weekend, i guess because he had to change positions from the wing to striker as martial was injured but he hasnt been poor this season, was on fire against chelsea and did well against wolves, he just went missing against southampton. However im happy with Martial as our main striker, i always wanted him to have a consistant run as no.9 because this is his position and is wasted out wide.

Will be an interesting season for Utd.

Imo get in Poch from Spurs, give him money and within 2 years he will have Utd in the top 4. But a bit early for this talk....I assume.

It’s actually mad the amount of players that have simply not been interested in signing for Manchester United AND signed players turning out to be expensive flops.

For example Pogba, Fred & Sanchez are the recent players that come to my mind.

When Fergie retired - he really should have moved up in the board as a sporting director or something - the gap left behind him has only gone deeper as years gone by.

With the sponsorship deals and worldwide brand recognition, a club like Manchester United really should have become a dominant force - but the recruitment process and transfer strategy really let them down.

I’d say since Fergie’s departure - the only good thing to happen was Rashford’s promotion and the signing of James - this is what Manchester United were identified for.

IMO, Manchester should aim to sell remaining deadwood - focus on young signings and hire Tuchel as a Head coach.

I think since fergie and gill left there was a complete discord between manager and board created by woodward.

There are many things wrong with Ole, but hes doing the right thing for once since fergie left by getting rid of the deadwood and making good signings- James and AWB are fantastic buys and Maguire was a much needed CB and at the same time getting rid of players that just dont fit like Lukaku and integrating mctominay, martial and rashford into the starting 11. I actually think he would have made a great sporting director but MUs real rebuilding is actually starting now for the first time.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling says he will be happy to extend his stay in Italy if his season-long loan deal at AS Roma is successful.

Manchester United's Chris Smalling Action Images via Reuters/Jason Cairnduff
England international Smalling fell out of favour at Old Trafford following the arrival of Harry Maguire as the world’s most expensive defender from Leicester City.

The 29-year-old centre back has been brought in at Roma to help fill the void left by Kostas Manolas at the heart of the defence, and he suggested he could look to make the move permanent.

“This is an opportunity that came to me that I was very interested in, and I was very eager to come,” Smalling told a news conference on Friday.

“It happened very quickly and now I focus on the next game, getting up to speed with training in terms of the manager’s methods and then hopefully have a very good season.

“To be able to have the chance at a big club, and then if it prolongs and the club is happy then I can definitely see a longer-term future in Italy.”

Smalling’s former United team mate Romelu Lukaku, now at Inter Milan, was subjected to racist abuse as he took the penalty during his side’s 2-1 win over Cagliari last weekend.

Serie A have launched an investigation into the incident but an Inter fans group, in an open letter, insisted the monkey chants in Italy are not racist.

Smalling has described racism as an “unacceptable” problem that affects all parts of the world but remains hopeful that it will lessen in the near future.

“There needs to be a change, there will be generational changes and younger people will have a different perspective,” he added.

“But it does happen, not just in Italy but around the world, and it is very sad and unacceptable that it still happens in these modern times.”

Smalling is set to make his debut for Roma against Sassuolo following the international break on Sept. 15.

Cape Town - Juventus are planning to open talks with Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea in the hope of signing him on a free transfer next summer.

The Bianconeri pulled off something similar when luring former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey to Turin on a free transfer and are planning to do the same with the Reds stopper.

The future of De Gea remains up in the air and there is a growing feeling that his time at Old Trafford could be coming to an end as the clock ticks on his contract.

The Spaniard has not been at his best, resulting in him being dropped to the bench by the Spanish national side on Thursday night, but United still view him as one of the best and are keen to secure his future.

It has been claimed that United are willing to offer De Gea as much as £350 000 a week, which would make him the biggest earning goalkeeper in world football, but he could still turn it down.

De Gea could now stall on the contract up until January when he would then be free to negotiate with European clubs over a move at the end of the season, and this is where Juve would step in.

The Old Lady have also been heavily linked with moves for fellow United stars Nemanja Matic and Eric Bailly, but De Gea looks to be their number one priority as they sense they can land him on a free transfer.

Juve are now a huge power in European football, despite the fact that the Champions League continues to elude them.

They showed that when snapping up Cristiano Ronaldo two summers ago, and when signing the in-demand Matthijs de Ligt from under the noses of their rivals in this latest window.

They will be just as hopeful of landing De Gea, and it would appear that United now face a huge battle trying to get him tied down to a new deal.

It’s actually mad the amount of players that have simply not been interested in signing for Manchester United AND signed players turning out to be expensive flops.

For example Pogba, Fred & Sanchez are the recent players that come to my mind.

I’d say since Fergie’s departure - the only good thing to happen was Rashford’s promotion and the signing of James - this is what Manchester United were identified for.

Why would any player, especially a top player at a top European club sign for Manchester United? Man United aren't a top club anymore and signing for them is a massive step down if you play for the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Madrid clubs, Bayern, PSG, Juventus. Manchester United are a Europa league club.

And I'm sick and tired of Manchester United fans with their obsession with young players. This whole "Manchester United Way" nonsense is one of the reasons that we are so rubbish at the moment. We are still stuck in the past, trying to replicate the ways of Sir Alex Ferguson, while the rest of the footballing world has moved on. If a young player is good with a potential to be great, then fine, but if we are backing **** young players like Rashford, then that's a problem.

And it's funny you call Pogba a flop. Pogba is doing the best he can with a bunch of average players around him. He is Manchester United's most creative players and would our best player last year. Against Southampton, he created two one on ones for Rashy, who didn't score, as per expected, because he is ****. I'm sick of United fans jumping on Pogba's back all the time, while not saying anything about mediocre English players like Rashford, Lingard etc.

I think what man utd fans are sick of is totally opposite to what you say - after fergie retired we tried going the city/chelsea/rm way by buying our way to the league and it was our worst performance ever. Its high time MU went back to the way what established them and its by creating its own players.

The reason why we are rubbish is because of this mentality that we want to buy our way to the top, it worked for city but its not working here and obviously not at RM/PSG either. Its a rubbish and stupid way to run a major club which has such a big force and academy to develop players.

what is funny is that fans got irritated and annoyed at the fact we wernt giving a chance to the youngsters but when they are now we have fans wanting us to go back to the jose ways.

...and you keep calling rashford rubbish without pointing out any facts, he is one of the best home grown english talents in a long time, by the age of 21 he has almost similar stats to ronaldo and messi at the same age, despite playing out wide for most of his career.

What is more funny is people who criticise these players never blame pogba or de gea but praise them instead, ye pogba is one of the most creative players in the world and sets up goals for fun, but his flaw is that he also gives the ball away a heck of times in his own half, its become a pretty familiar scene,

pogba decides to showboat in his own half instead of passing - gives the ball away and it leads to a goal.

You blamed everyone after the crystal place defeat apart from pogba and de gea yet it was because of those two we lost. He was not our best player last season, not even close and was outshone by even mctominay towards the end of the season.

Arsene Wenger has written off Manchester United's Premier League title chances this season and has cast doubt on whether their new crop can restore the club's greatness.

After four games of the new campaign, in which United have won once, lost once and drawn twice, former Arsenal boss Wenger sees potential in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, but insists they are not ready for the top.

"When you see Man Utd, they are one of the examples where there is a potential there,' he told beIN Sports. "But they have not found a collective way.

"Maybe these players are not mature enough to carry the team play of a team like Man United, altogether. That is the question mark now.

"You feel there is something coming out but it's not ready. When you watch them play, they are not a candidate to fight for the championship.

'Will they emulate what (Ryan) Giggs, (Paul) Scholes, (David) Beckham did over a number of years? Personally, I'm not convinced."

United continue their season at home to Leicester City on Saturday, in a 3pm kick-off at Old Trafford.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2023.

De Gea, 28, has made 367 United appearances since Sir Alex Ferguson brought him to the club from Atletico Madrid in an £18.9m deal in June 2011.

"Now my future is fixed, all I want is to help this team achieve what I believe we can and win trophies again, together," said the Spaniard.

"It has been a privilege to spend eight years at this great club."

De Gea, who helped United win the Premier League title in 2012-13, the FA Cup three seasons later and both the League Cup and the Europa League in 2016-17, said: "The opportunity to continue my career at Manchester United is a genuine honour.

"Since I arrived here, I could never have imagined I would play over 350 games for this club.

De Gea, capped 40 times by Spain, added: "I still feel I have so much more to achieve at the club and I truly believe that Manchester United can build on the club's tradition of success and reward our fans for their support.

"I am committed to continue repaying the fans for all of the care that they've shown me during the good times and the bad."

De Gea has played in all five of United's Premier League games in 2019-20 with the club fourth, seven points behind leaders Liverpool.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "I am delighted that David has committed his long-term future to the club.

"Over recent years, David has proved himself to be the best in the world and a vital part of our plans as we look to take Manchester United back to where it belongs."

The Norwegian added that De Gea "represents everything you want in a goalkeeper".

We have some good young goalies like Dean Henderson and Joel Pereira in the ranks and Sergio Romero is as good as anyone in the league apart from Allison imo.

Probably could have cashed on De Gea who is going stale

De Gea has lost his form and also his place in the Spanish side to Kepa who was outstanding in their previous match.

Giving him such a contract is a big risk because even if his form drops you are pressured into playing him. Imo Utd should have sold him to Real for 100m and then use the money to buy someone who can score goals.

Good news regarding De Gea but I wonder if he is past his best.

his contract is over in the summer, there was no cashing in, no big teams needed a goalie either so would have just waited for him to leave us for free and would have used his transfer fee savings to give him a huge wage otherwise im sure the board would have sold him in the summer.

London - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will hand promising striker Mason Greenwood a chance to lead a Manchester United youth revolution in the Europa League on Thursday.

United manager Solskjaer believes Greenwood is one of the best finishers he has ever seen and he will give the 17-year-old his opportunity to shine when Astana visit at Old Trafford.

Greenwood has made four substitute appearances this season, but Solskjaer told reporters on Wednesday that the English teenager would start against the Kazakhstan champions.

"He is still very young, Mason, but he's maturing," Solskjaer said. "He's developed so much in the last six months since I came in.

"I remember the kid who just wanted to play with mates in the Under-18s. And now he's knocking on a door, he's ready to play these games.

"For me, he has been in the Under-21s with England, he's tasting it more and more. And his appetite for football must be growing.

"I just don't want to put too much pressure on him, apart from go out there and enjoy yourself.

"I know he'll make the right finish. Keeper might make a fantastic save but he's one of the best finishers I've seen.

"It's just that enjoyment, express yourself, go out at Old Trafford because there'll be 11 Astana players living the dream tomorrow."

Solskjaer intends to change tack as his side embark on their Europa League journey as the manager focuses on the youth at his disposal.

He confirmed academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe, 21, will be in the line-up against Astana, 28 months since last starting a match for United at Old Trafford.

A knock sees Daniel James join Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw on the sidelines, with Fred coming into midfield and back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero getting the nod ahead of David De Gea.

"It's a process and for these, we trust them. It's for them to grow as players but also human beings - that responsibility of being robust enough to go out at Old Trafford," Solskjaer said.

"It's not just about enjoying yourself because you've got to get results.

"And if you don't throw them in you don't know what you've got so, for me, I don't see this as any other way of doing this because I've always done this wherever I've been.

"I've not been too many places but that's my belief as a coach that you have to give them a chance, an opportunity.

"Especially forward players. They'll win you games. Defenders it's a shift, find a way to win a game and keep them out.

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has signed a new contract through to the summer of 2024, with the option of a further year.

The Sweden international, 25, has made 74 appearances for the club since joining from Benfica for £31m in June 2017.

"Since the day I arrived at United it has felt like home," said Lindelof.

"I've grown significantly both as a player and as a person in the last two years."

Lindelof has started every game for United so far this season alongside £80m summer signing Harry Maguire.

He is the second Manchester United player to commit his future to the club this week after goalkeeper David de Gea signed a new deal on Monday.

"I know that everyone at the club shares this vision and will give everything to get Manchester United back to where it belongs," added Lindelof, who began his career at Swedish club Vasteras before moving to Benfica in 2011.

"I'm still young and know I can improve further but with the help of the boss and his coaching staff, I believe that only good things are ahead for this great club."

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "Victor has established himself here and has become a very important part of our team. He brings calmness on the pitch and I can see that he is determined to help this club and to be successful here.

"I'm extremely happy that he has committed his future to Manchester United. We're all looking forward to working together to deliver the success and get United back to where we know the club belongs."

The Norwegian boss has revealed that a prized trio will be absent for the Red Devils once again for a trip to the London Stadium

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Anthony Martial, Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw will all miss Manchester United's trip to West Ham this weekend, but he is hopeful Daniel James can still feature.

Pogba has been unavailable since sustaining an ankle injury in a 1-1 draw at Southampton on August 31, while Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw have both been recovering from knocks suffered against Crystal Palace the week before.

James, meanwhile, picked up an injury during last Saturday's 1-0 win over Leicester City, which forced him to miss a Europa League victory against Astana yesterday.

When asked if Pogba and Martial would be fit enough to face West Ham on Sunday, Solskjaer told a press conference: "Not really, no. They've not been training yet so I don't think so. [Luke] won't be ready.

"Daniel James? I don't know. He's not trained in the last few days. Hopefully, but not sure. We'll have a recovery day with everyone tomorrow and we'll see on Saturday."

United currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, having picked up eight points from a possible 15.

However, Solskjaer's men have not secured an away victory since beating Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League on March 5.

The Red Devils' last domestic win on the road came against Crystal Palace on February 25, but Solskjaer insists he is not concerned by their recent away woes.

United have posted draws against Wolves and Southampton on their travels already this season, with Solskjaer adamant that his side should have earned maximum points.

"Why should we coaches be concerned?" he said. "We're looking forward to things, looking for solutions. I've never been concerned about anything really. I don't walk around and worry about things. I'm looking what we can do to improve. I've never been a worrier.

"I think we should've won at Southampton, I think we should've won the Wolverhampton one. Both should be wins. It's still the same size pitch, green with white lines, some fans. You've got to block out the mental part and play as you would in the park."

After their clash with the Hammers, United will turn their attention to a Carabao Cup third-round tie at home to Rochdale, before hosting Arsenal in the Premier League five days later.

Gary Neville quite rightly slating MUFC today versus West Ham.

This team looks a million miles away from previous great MUFC teams.

No strength in depth, strange transfer policy and a manager who looks clueless.

Roy Keane and Jose Mourinho in the studio ripping apart Man Utd today.

I’d give Ole the season for just clearing the dead weight if not anything else

We’re rid of Smalling, Sanchez, Lukaku, Valencia and Darmian in one window already.

Utd fans need to get their heads out of the clouds.

Their team at present is only a top 10 side. Losing to a decent West Ham team isn't a huge issue.

Roy Keane was superb on Sky Sports today - some home truths about the club, the players and the manager.

Souness "this is the weakest Man Utd team since the start of the Premier League".

Utd fans how is the Maguire thing working out :irfan

Our defence is not the problem, you cant blame them when they have nemaja ‘no legs’ matic infront of them and another no legs mata.

I was quite happy with the the team untill today because even though the results wernt going our way we still played good football compared to this time last season when we sat in defence and still leaked goals

However today we played way below standards, we cant blame ole as hes doing his best with a small squad and didnt get replacements for the MFs he lost but he must take the blame today you cant expect to win any match by playing matic and mata in a MF who have no energy and movement, fred may not be the player we expected when we bought him but surly he deserves his chances and should be above matic in the pecking order

The team is definitely not as bad as last season where we stuck Lukaku up top and chucked long balls to him which was a nightmare to watch, our MF is terrible right now and thats because the board didnt address those issues and let herrera leave.

There was this side once...

that is a matured side, this is a young side with an ave age of 21, in 5/6 years people will probably compare the james, greenwards, mctominnays, gomes, AWB with those names too,

Romero as good as Ederson? :))) :)))

Decent back up that’s all. Wouldn’t start at any of the top teams.

i think he is more than a decent backup, but still only a backup. Dean Henderson is the highly rated keeper but i dont know how he would fit in now that de gea has signed a contract unless we get de gea back on form and sell him and by that time dean would have gotten some experience under his belt.

Looks like De Gea will be Manchester United long term keeper. With the mistakes he has been making, the amount of money being invested into him is a big risk for United.

The Manchester United executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has said the club “remain focused on our plan of rebuilding the team” after announcing record revenues of £627.1m for the last financial year.

He said: “We remain focused on our plan of rebuilding the team and continuing to strengthen our youth system, in line with the philosophy of the club and the manager.

“This is reflected in the recent addition of three exciting first-team players, key player contract extensions and the talent we have coming through our academy. Everyone at Manchester United is committed to delivering on our primary objective of winning trophies.”

United are eighth in the Premier League after a 2-0 defeat at West Ham at the weekend, having won two of their six games.

https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-revenue-but-say-focus-is-on-winning-trophies

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward says "everyone at the club" is determined to bring back success by winning trophies.

Speaking to club investors after the club reported record annual financial revenues of £627.1m, Woodward - unusually - addressed on-field matters.

"Everyone at the club remains resolute in our desire to get Manchester United back to the top of English football," he said. "We will continue to make the investments necessary to make that happen."

Man Utd annual revenues hit record high
The latest financial figures cover the 12 months to 30 June.

United have finished in the top three of the Premier League once in six seasons since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

They have failed to qualify for the Champions League three times during that spell and are eighth in the Premier League this season after six games.

The club estimate their failure to qualify for this season's Champions League will cost them between £40m and £60m in reduced revenue for 2020.

"We and our growing global fanbase demand success," said Woodward. "Success means winning trophies and that target has never changed."

'It is important we are patient'
United have started this season disappointingly under new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Sunday's 2-0 defeat at West Ham left them seven points behind leaders Liverpool and trailing Leicester, West Ham and Bournemouth.

Former boss Jose Mourinho, former captain Roy Keane and former Liverpool boss Graeme Souness were damning in their condemnation of the club on Sky Sports on Sunday, adding their voices to allegations from supporters on social media that the club are more interested in finance than football.

Those comments are rejected by United sources, who say the club's commercial income, which has fallen slightly to £275.1m - 44% of overall revenue - exists to help the football side of the club, not diminish it.

"The progress we have made on the business side underpins continued investment in the football side," said Woodward, who added that investments made, particularly around the recruitment department, 'have given us the building blocks for success'.

"We are confident this investment will deliver results but it is important we are patient while Ole builds for the future."

This summer, United spent £145m on three players, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James. In addition, Marcus Rashford, David de Gea and Victor Lindelof are among the first-team players to get significant new contracts.

United say they are happy with their summer business, with Woodward feeling the approach was the right one.

It is understood the club are open to reviewing the football structure and personnel within it amid anticipation of the appointment of a technical director, something United themselves raised in the wake of Mourinho's exit last December.

However, Woodward says the future direction of the club is set.

"Returning to the roots of club's ethos of youth-led attacking football is the right way forward," he said.

"We won't be influenced by short-term distractions."

every player goes through a bad patch and this is de geas,

This bad patch has gone on for a while lol.

started against arsenal towards the end of last season, coincidently thats when oles terrible start began and when he himself got the contract and de geas stretched on and on.
only before that against tottenham, he had his best game, now his contract is signed, he should be judged from now on

The comedy called Man Utd continues after West Ham did them. Already well behind us they are relegation candidates this season:rp Where is my nemesis on this thread?:inti
