Probably 2 of the most defining moments in his career came in the form of throws from the deep.
The first one where he ran Dhoni out from a freakish direct hit all but put Nz in the wc final. Not saying Dhoni would have won the game otherwise but things could have got pretty close.
And secondly as many are now calling it the 'Bat of God' moment, his throw from the deep hit's stokes bat and runs away for conceding a match defining and ultimately world Cup defining boundary!

If he threw to the bowlers end, it would have 2. Imo the run out was never on which is what he was aiming for.

Don't think you can blame him for that, if at all there was a small runout chance it was at the striker's end

Stokes was running at full speed and the ball had a long way to travel. It was a risk that didn’t pay off but really unlucky as well.
