There are many people who convert to various religions and leave their current religion.
I don’t know why you people think people only convert to Islam. There are hundreds of videos on YouTube of ex Muslims who converted to Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism etc. majority seem to prefer atheism.

It is quite funny that you guys constantly shove around random YouTube videos or someone's speech about how pious & peaceful Islam is. Well, action speaks louder than words, isn't it? As a non Muslim, when we see likes of Taliban using medieval principle to rule people, treating women with absolute misogyny and doing all that as per what is written in the holy book according to them, what perception outsiders like us will have? When we see terrorists blow up or beheads people chanting Gods name, how can we think otherwise? Please put yourself in our shoes and think.

Your videos and speeches are all good. However it is not about proving anything to the outsiders like us. If Sharia actually preaches peace and good governance, then likes of Taliban are not doing great job adhering to it. Infact, they are the one who is presenting your religion in a bad light to the outsiders. Just like you guys protest for Women and Children of Palestine, why don't I see a single protest for caged women in Afghanistan? As a moderate muslim, you guys should be protesting against Taliban for projecting your religion in bad light to the outer world. Then perhaps you don't have to make these extra efforts to convince us by presenting these youtube videos. But this widespread silence even among educated western living muslims feels like they secretly like and agree to what Taliban do.

It's so unfortunate that despite being an Indian who has spent his whole life among Muslims, you had to look somewhere else to get idea about Islam. Anyways we condemn Talibans where they are wrong but atleast they are not puppet of any western government.

Anyways I still wish good for you guys and hope that you will judge an entire community and their religion by the actions of that community guys collectively and most importantly in light of their scripture which they are supposed to follow. IERA is a good site for that purpose brother rajdeep.

First of all you guys cannot even agree on one book or scripture to follow. There are a number of books even in Hinduism who are rigid and there is talk of killing humans if they don’t get along with your ideology. It’s good modern Hindus dont pay attention to that sort of stuff.

Hinduism by nature is flexible and malleable because it’s more of a philosophy or way of life than religion. Religions are more rigid. You cannot compare the two.

Obviously you have not been exposed to Orthodox Jews and evangelical Christians. You will get the idea how stubborn, rigid and tunnel visioned they are just like most conservative Muslims. My way or the highway!

You only reserve your negative energy for Muslims because that’s mostly who you have seen in India and thanks to the last 10-12 years now it’s become fashionable for you guys to criticize them.

Maybe you need to take a deeper look at why those things were happening in the first place. For every story you have of a fellow Hindu dying like this there are equal if not more stories of death and sadness on the Muslim side too.

There are bad apples everywhere and with Muslims there are those who force conversions. But Islam is very clear on this subject. There is no compulsion in religion.

It is a tax like any other tax, I don't see how you are translating that into compulsion of religion. Nobody is being forced to follow Islam or convert.

An Islamic state, like others have taxes. There is Zakat, which is levied on Muslims. For non Muslims its Jaziya.

Zakat is a Muslim tax and is one of the tenets of Islam and therefore it is not right to subject non Muslims to it. If you study history, the Jaziya tax was actually cheaper than zakat in some cases.

Quran is for all times. It holds true till the end of times.

AFAIK, tax is always a compulsion by its very nature. Never heard of a voluntary tax. .
Please tell me which of the Jaziya or Zakat were voluntary?
