Mickey Arthur believes PSL will give him players for the World Cup!

So, everyone had been calling for Inzi head, for giving PSL importance when it comes to selection.

Little do people know that Mickey Arthur and Sarfraz have 100% authority over selection or rejection of a player, given to them by Inzi.


And here, Arthur wants to make PSL the funnel into national squads.



ISLAMABAD: Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has hinted local players who perform well in the upcoming fourth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) can earn a ticket to the ICC World Cup this summer.

“PSL has produced great talent in the past and I am hopeful of finding more this season as well,” a private news channel quoted Arthur as saying.

Arthur, who is also the head coach of PSL franchise Karachi Kings, hailed the tournament and the talent it has produced and believed PSL allows the players to perform under pressure on a big stage.

“I am sure that we will get another name coming out that we can tap into,” he said.”If somebody in this competition really performs well, there might be a jack in the pack that we can use. The competition is so good that it always throws out somebody for us.”

“I am going to keep my eyes peeled and really looking forward to finding more talent from this season,” added the South African.Arthur was optimistic about Karachi Kings’ chances in the tournament but did not discredit other teams either, saying they were all in it to win the trophy.

“I hope (to win the title) but there are five other franchises around as well, so we will see. We will have to be at our best on our match day,” he said.

Didn't they have a very vocal falling out which coincided with Umar's disappearance from the national team? Mickey doesn't strike me as someone who has time for the idiotic antics of the Akmals.

Yes they did, not only that, after that incident, Umar Akmal did press conference and told the media that Micky Arthur has "insulted the whole nation". Theres no way Micky is gonna invite Umar akmal back in the squad, I gurantee it.

The way Shadab, Faheem, Talat have been demolishing teams in the ODIs, we will find another player from the PSL who will take ODIs by storm.

Rizwan was not unearthed with PSL. Talat hardly played any ODI so how can you judge him, and going by his T20 performances he looks a decent prospect for batting. Shadab as been a true star in all format he has played for Pakistan and has been decent in all three forms(batting,bowling and fielsing). Fakhar also has won Pak many matches and has good performances even in SENA; he has already nailed down his position in Pak team for tbewpeld cup. Only question mark is Faheem who has inconsistent performance in bowling, one day very good other day very ordinary. In batting he lacks temparament and sense.

If anything PSL should be used to see which players he can use post World cup in T20s.

Everything is so wrong with Pak cricket. He should be using the domestic cricket to see who is good enough for selection. All this should be done well 6-10 months in advance of the World cup.

Not sure of what Micky will make out of Shan Masood's outing yesterday as compared to Umar Akmal's. Both are vastly different players to the limited overs format but Micky may have had Masood in his initial plans for the summer

Masood looks more assured batsman but umar Akmal is more talented but risky option.

There is no doubt about Talent of Umar Akmal. He can be match winner in the team , but problem is his attitude. If he really wants to win WC for Pakistan , and puts in his mind and soul into it , he can take Pakistan deep into the WC

Indeed, but that was when Mickey’s horse was flying like Borak - won Champions Trophy, drew a series 2-2 in UK, won a Test series in WIN for the first time....

Since then lots of water has flown to not Arabian Sea .... Sarfraz model PAK had a Tests series against SRL in UAE, an ODI NZ tour..... the Asia Cup, the home season in UAE .... finally the SAF tour where immediately after PAK, SRL has ensured that they won’t loose the Test series ....... WC is 100 days away and Mickey isn’t dumb not to notice his #4-5-6..... days have changed.
