I've heard some comments recently from cricketers who claim to be Pakistanis at heart, how they are desperate to see international cricket return to Pakistan, how their aim is to ensure international cricket comes back to Pakistan, how much they love Pakistan etc etc etc.

Gimmick or reality?

Money talking or genuine?

This is the problem with us haha. We simple cannot be satisfied with anything that anyone does. Had they not said anything about wanting to have cricket back in Pakistan, most fans would have labelled them as heartless cricketers, money hungry with no passion for the country and now that they are saying this, we call them gimmicks.

Gimmick or not, the fact is, we believe what they tell us. What would they get out of not wanting cricket back in Pakistan or even for wanting cricket to return? They as sportsmen and cricketers couldn't care less because they'll be making just as much money as they are playing in UAE or in Pakistan.

I think what makes many people suspicious about this undying love is that as soon as the next T20 tournament is going on these same players declare 'this is my new family' etc.

it could be both. Or maybe some of them have genuinely been touched by the hospitality they received in Pakistan. End of the day at least they are saying something positive in regards to Pakistan cricket.

Maybe we could get WI to come to Pakistan for a T20 series.

It's probably genuine. I mean it's also in their self-interest that it happens.

Pakistani hospitality is certainly better than the treatment provided by any odd-T20 franchise. (For that matter so is the treatment IPL sides give their pros).

No reason why players won't genuinely wish it well.

I hate to be cynical but most of the talk coming from the WI players sounds fake to me. Actions speak louder than words and the WICB has cold shouldered us twice.

The comments from our own players eems genuine though.

There is no loyalty for T20 teams that are barely two or three years old, especially when players are associated with four or five of these teams in any given season.

The players are simply after the money and whoever pays them the most will get their loyalty.

When they talk about their country its genuine most of the time. But when they say these things while being part of some foreign league its fake.

There is no loyalty when the same player plays for 5 different leagues. Imagine cristiano ronaldo playing for Real Madrid and Manchester United one by one in a season. Cricket leagues are a joke.

Spot on. Desi fans also give importance to foreign players opinions and think they are genuine. When in reality these players don't give a damn about our countries and culture.

I think money has everything to do with it, netting triple figures in salaries and PR for a few weeks fully expenses paid jolly in the lavish middle east is hardly anything you don't want more of in your life but credit to these cricketers though, they are making the most of it for what it's worth and at the same time doing whatever they can within their very limited capacity to promote the resumption of cricket.

As for the "I'm Pakistani at heart" comment, i think that's it's a lot easier for a caribbean cricketer to come out with those quotes and know well that the public will applaud but not take it too seriously.

I think the first human tendency is only to be nice to outsiders, especially to those whom you see more alike, striving for equality and acceptance just like you. In that sense, its very believable for West Indians and Pakistanis to see each other as natural allies in the cricket world and that is what seems to be transpiring.

What bothers me is the hate Marlon Samuels is getting on social media from a lot of the Indian fans. Utterly embarrassing show of insecurity and small heartedness.

This is my concern, Just how genuine are these cricketers or is it a case of money talking.
