Look at India's team, at least 8 can bat:

1. Sharma
2. Dhawan
3. Kohli
4. Yuvraj
5. Dhoni
6. Pandya
7. Jadhav
8. Jadeja

9. B Kumar
10. Yadav
11. Bumrah

This means for our batting to even look good on paper we need to start batting 8 deep:

1. Sharjeel
2. Fakhir Zaman
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Shoaib Malik
6. Sarfraz Ahmed
7. Imad Wasim
8. Faheem Ashraf

9. Shadab Khan
10. Mohammad Amir
11. Hasan Ali

Full bowlers in Amir, Hasan Ali, Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim.

Part time bowlers in Faheem Ashraf, Haris Sohail and Shoaib Malik.

The batting is nice and long. We need to start playing this team ASAP to prepare for the 2019 World Cup.

Shadab Khan is a better batsman than Fahim Ashraf. You lot are being swayed by that one innings in the warmup which none of you even watched. There is a reason why he averages 15 in domestics. Numbers do not lie.

Yes, he might have the ability to use the long handle but as the numbers suggest he is not very consistent with it. That does not mean that there is no talent to work with. This is where our management comes in. They need to equip him with the tools he needs to be consistent as a hitter down the order.

Shadab on the other hand has the semblance of a proper batsmen. He is too young at the moment but I think he can be a good enough batsman for the number six position.

I also share your opinion.

It seems to be the new norm. Look at England, their batting depth is insane. South Africa seems to have also adopted the same strategy with so many all-rounders.

In saying that, it's not a sure-fire way of winning. England has lost a few games with such a lineup.

It's more important to have 6 good batsmen who can do their job than 3-4 decent bats and 4-5 bits and pieces players.

Good post. Agree with it .

Fahim played one innings on small boubdaries an everyone has been going crazy.

Shadab is offcourse a better batsmen then fahim

I'm not discrediting Shadab's batting. He's got potential, it's definitely in him. It will only help us if both Shadab and Faheem can develop into threats with the bat down the order.

Right now we are definitely playing a bowler too much. There really is no need to play Junaid (Despite the love this forum has for him). This is why our bowlers don't even complete the 10 overs and sometimes Malik doesn't even bowl a single over.

Need 7 proper bats (1 as wk) then a few ARs to extend the batting and make 5 bowling options.

For the next odi series, this should be our lineup:

1. Fakhar Zaman
2. Azhar Ali
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Malik
6. Sarfaraz Ahmed
7. Shadab Khan
8. Fahim Ashraf
9. Amir
10. Hassan
11. Junaid

Pretty much everything that needs to be set. I personally rate Shadab's batting ability higher than I rate his bowling.
