Moeen Ali - Performance Watch

Big Fish Younis jumped into the net willingly, Hafeez medium sized cod bamboozled.
Moeen hoping Pak batsmen will come around the bowl like goldfish for next test match
and forget what they did here....

Terrific innings. The 60 something he got today does not fully reflect how well he batted. Batted with (mostly) a straight bat, blocked and left a lot fof good balls, hit some delightful shots along the way. He can be a good middle order batsman for England if he applies himself like this.

Wow, he's getting pounded pretty bad.

Like a shot for SIX an over now.

I love how indians rejoice in his poor performances, it vindicates the burn he caused them when their team toured England :yk they were playing his bowling as if he was chucking grenades at them on a minefield :yk2

Exceptional batting by Moeen in this match, gave England momentum in both innings.

Has turned things around nicely after a nightmare start to the series.

Moeen is showing everyone what his primary strengths are he is an aggressive batsman who can bowl. He shouldn't be picked as the front line spinner though.

Most know how good a batsmen he is, so no-one should be surprised. The issue is the bowling, and the experts realise that too.

Good on him. Better batsmen than some give him credit for.

Terrific batting. This might lead to more confidence while bowling too.

Due to continued success Moeen at no 7, he is no longer just part time bowler he is also reserved wicket keeper....but will not be moved up the order due to continued success from ballance and Vince......

Will be demolished tomorrow when bowling.

Given Pakistan will presumably be going for the draw they'll be reluctant to hit him out the attack like they have previously so I think tomorrow could actually be one of his of his best of the series.

If he can bag a few wickets tomorrow and England win, he'll be taking the MoM. Crucial knocks in both innings.

Seriously, i have always said he is the most rubbish player in England squad. But tbh, he has saved the 4th Test for England.

Pakistan won't attack him though. They are obviously playing negative cricket and looking for a draw. He can bowl an attacking line and get the Pakistani batsmen out.

He definitely knows how to secure his spot. I reckon he wont bowl much today.

That's partly true. Depends on how many wickets hey have lost when he comes on to bowl

So the dude can work on games in the future as well? :batman:

Definitely, and also he is coming to India and he will love Indian pitches.

Streety is right, he becomes Lara against Pak and Murali against India :))

Btw, if you watch his yesterday's knock, it was truly amazing. Some of his shots were treat to watch.

#GreenRoars Yar actually I have a lot to say !! Lekin Roary abhi yahan mein kuch agar khaun ga then your fellow boys would get their knickers in a twist and I'd be getting notifications left, right and center :))

Let's just say since :moali made runs I would expect Hafeez to also score and make amends accordingly :) - Pitch is flat someone needs to feast and feast hard on the Poms !!

To go along with the 2 half-centuries, man of the match bowling display coming up :warne

They sent Bairstow to complete his 100 but it looks like Moeen was it first :( Yasir under massive attack here

Have to admit, during this test I was licking my lips when he came out to bat even though I know he's a decent bat who lacks a bit of consistency anyhow he smashed our bowlers all around the park and got England crucial breakthroughs. Cook as him in his XI for a reason, so many impact players with great utility.....this was arguably Mo's best performance at the Test level. Great character displayed by him coming back from that awful dismissal at Lords.

Yet again a Man of the Match performance from Moeen

after all the experts wrote him off he has been best spinner on show after 1st Test

Extremely good performance last game.

Both batting and bowling.

Pretty unexpected.

If he masters flight and slows it up, I think he will be a far better bowler.

Today he exhibited some really good skills in bowling.

More quality batting today, both aggressive and controlled, and potentially a red-hot bowling display to come: a future England MVP?

Will end up with more wickets then Ashley Giles and more runs then Andrew Flintoff.

Moeen Ali is arguably the GOAT amongst British asians to have played international cricket for England, what do you guys reckon James Robert Junaids

52 off 79, very good counterattack and again at a critical moment in a Test match.

Nasser Hussain?

I'm starting to dislike him lol.

Why did you like him in the first place? He plays for ENGLAND! Mo lives in my city, I disowned him the moment he put on a blue shirt, we also disowned him at the Birmingham Bears Cricket Club so he could play for Worstershire the club where all the other Birmingham Bear rejects end up

3 Match changing Knocks from Moeen Ali in a row- Is he that Good?

3 Match changing 50s

Edgbaston 1st and 2nd innings

Oval 1st innings

Is he really that good or have bowled poorly at him?

Our bowlers lack the stamina. Misbah, as much as I'm a fan of his, is way too predictable. After 40 overs, the field spreads and our bowlers bowl a one-dimensional line.

Give him some credit. He is a fine cricketer. I first heard of him when he was a teenager smashing bowling attacks all around the park. He is cashing in thanks to Azhar Ali.

I thought so too, but then I remembered Ranjitsinhji!

And Cliff Richard, and Engelbert Humperdinck!

I like how easily he is toying with our bowling line up.. it hurts this kind of onslaught down the order

Peach of a knock this. His best ever knock in his career.

Like I said, he is a mutant all rounder. Turns into Lara against Pakistan and Muralitharan against India.:lara:murali

Has the talent to average 40 but still believe his mental weakness will stop him fulfilling his potential, will finish with an average of 34-36 as a test player.

He has always been a quality batsman. I think the pressure of bowling will prevent him from achieving his full potential as a batsman. He is a rubbish bowler and isn't likely to get much better so England should only play Moeen as a batsman and draft in another spinner.

You guys played too many shots against him and we dropped his catches :yk

In all seriousness tho, full credit to him for the innings he just played today. Especially that 6 vs Yasir was a sweet way to reach 100.

I rate him now, after phainta he gave us.

Brilliant, brilliant innings.

He has turned things around in emphatic fashion since Lord's.

Moeen would be ideal for Pakistan's Test side in terms of adding balance. Capable at 6 or 7 and a 5th bowler.

Now has taken crucial wicket of Azhar like on the 5th Day at Edgbaston.

Moeen Ali, key wickets, crucial runs under pressure etc favourite for MOM again, what a turn around from the Lords Test and fair play to England for keeping faith in him
